Fleet Management Mechanic
Description
The purpose of this position is to ensure that fleet vehicles and equipment is maintained and repaired in a safe, reliable, economical and serviceable manner. This is a Nicor Gas role focused on all preventive and certain advanced corrective maintenance activities on company fleet vehicles and equipment.
Functional Expertise:
-Performs all fleet vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance related activities in accordance with defined fleet procedures.
-Performs electric system diagnostic and repairs on all fleet vehicles and equipment; and performs diagnostics and solves drivability problems of all gasoline vehicles.
-Performs brake system diagnostics, repairs and component replacements on all fleet vehicles and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
-Transports fleet vehicles and equipment between fleet service, third party establishments and operating areas; and performs vehicle and equipment fueling tasks in accordance with defined fleet procedures, company safety guidelines and state and federal regulations.
-Conducts fleet helper back-up and other duties as assigned.

-Identifies and informs supervisor and other qualified fleet personnel on vehicle and equipment preventive/corrective maintenance issues outside of their qualifications and expertise to ensure completion in a safe, reliable and timely manner.
-Organizes and effectively manages daily work assignments; and accurately records time, material and service charges in accordance with company policies, procedures and defined fleet work practices.
-Identifies and informs co-workers, peers and management personnel on unsafe conditions and/or work practices to ensure compliance to company policies and to mitigate personnel injuries or safety-related incidents.
Engagement:
-Engages with fleet, business unit and department personnel in a courteous manner and ensures transparency on fleet maintenance and transportation related activities.
-Engages with third party service providers, training and safety to ensure overall effectiveness in fleet maintenance and training related activities.
-Collaborates with fleet, other department and safety personnel/committees to ensure a safe work environment.
Driving Results:
-Executes responsibilities timely and accurately to ensure overall fleet vehicle and equipment availability, performance and reliability.
-Identifies and initiates fleet process, service and material improvements focused on enhancing departmental efficiencies and cost effectiveness.
-Provides timely and accurate information and system updates on pending fleet vehicle and maintenance activities to ensure efficient and effective resource scheduling.
Education, Certifications/Licenses:
Required:
-High school diploma or GED
-Commercial Drivers License class A (with air brake endorsement)*
-Good driving record
-Department of Transportation medical card*
-Must self furnish enough tools to be able to perform daily work and obtain company complete Fleet Services Mechanic tool list per bargaining agreement (within 1 year of certification)*
-Pass company in-house Fleet Services Mechanic Certification test*
-A.S.E. certifications (minimum of 4 total and at least 3 must be from Engine Repair, Brakes, Electrical Systems, Engine Performance, or Suspension/Steering)
-Must be available to work 2nd shift (approximately 3:30 pm-midnight Mon- Thurs Fri 1:30 -10:00pm )

Required:
-2-3 years experience in automotive work, including preventive and corrective maintenance, brake systems, electrical systems and tire mounting; or equivalent academic and education experience

Required:
-Reading, writing and computer/system skills sufficient to enter work orders, time, material and other required record keeping information into company supported systems.
-Ability to timely comprehend training on expected forms of communications with our customers including e-mail and voice mail systems, face-to-face and preventive maintenance/down lists.
-Ability to timely obtain and retain company required driving, safety and compliance training/certifications.
-Ability to comprehend and complete company defined hands-on training requirements of all preventive maintenance procedures and new types of equipment for all fleet vehicles and equipment.

JOB SUMMARY
As a member of a small research team, the incumbent is responsible for evaluating new technology options to accelerate the adoption of decarbonized transportation solutions. The candidate will provide project management including evaluation, development, and demonstration of emerging technologies and tech transfer for light-duty and non-road electric and low-carbon fuels transportation projects. The candidate will also explore opportunities to evaluate emerging advanced vehicle charging technologies, demonstrate vehicle-to-grid integration concepts, conduct electric grid impact studies, and evaluate their ability to act as grid tied resources. In addition to lab and field evaluation, the candidate is expected to provide market research and technical analysis support, interfacing with marketing sales support personnel, retail customers, engineering consultants, and equipment vendors to determine the needs and execution of projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with demonstration of high academic aptitude required; (Mechanical, Electrical degree preferred).
Minimum of 3 years of industry experience is preferred Knowledge of electric vehicles, vehicle communications protocols, utility distribution systems, and vehicle charging infrastructure preferred.
Good project management skills with the ability to prioritize and organize workload.
Proven hands-on capability is required for lab and field testing and demonstrations.
Good technical writing and presentation skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills combined with high personal drive and energy.
Must be creative, self-motivated, and goal oriented.

The Electrical Maintenance Instructor is responsible for analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of Plant Vogtle 1&2 Electrical Maintenance training programs. The individual will report to the Maintenance Training Lead Instructor and will perform activities instrumental in sustaining the plant's Institute for Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) accreditation; specifically,
Conduct needs, job, and task analyses
Design classroom, laboratory, plant, and flow loop instruction
Develop training and examination materials, including lesson plans, lab guides, OJT/TPE guides, and Just-In-Time training modules
Conduct training sessions in classroom, laboratory, flow loop trainer, and plant settings
Administer the training program, to include class scheduling and time keeping
Assist in determining training program effectiveness
Process and maintain plant training and accreditation records
Plan training budgets and forecast costs related to Electrical Maintenance training
Organize training venues, logistics, transport, and accommodations as required to achieve efficient training attendance and delivery
Conduct assessments, research, and evaluations as requested by the Maintenance Training Lead Instructor
Support Fleet instructor peers with all phases of training standardization
Support development and implementation of other training programs
Support Electrical Maintenance Line organization in special projects and outage assignments
Assist in Corrective Action Program activities
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent is required
5 years of Electrical Maintenance in-plant or field experience required
Employer Preferences
Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a related field is strongly preferred
Completion of an accredited-based maintenance training program, or equivalent as evidenced by a certificate, diploma, transcript, apprentice program syllabus, and/or INPO accredited training program (records as available) is preferred
3 years of commercial nuclear power plant related experience is preferred as a journeyman or supervisor
Prior experience with the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process, including classroom instructor experience and experience with accreditation renewal is preferred
Completion of INPO Instructor Certification Program is strongly preferred
Westinghouse Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) experience preferred

Good project management skills with the ability to prioritize and organize workload.

Telecom Analyst
Purpose
The Telecommunications Analyst is responsible for system level support of Southern Company telecommunications transport systems and infrastructure. This includes support of the Company's RF systems to include AMI, MW, as well as GPON, DWDM, SEL ICON, and Nokia SARS Next Gen Telecom systems from both a 24x7 operations and project implementation perspective. This position is expected to manage maintenance, projects, assignments, and requests with minimal oversight and to effectively interface with multiple cross-functional parties on a frequent basis. i.e.: Infrastructure Operations Center, Power Delivery, Telecommunication Engineering, Field Ops, Telecom Requests, as well as, external parties (vendors and partners).
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for strategic and tactical plans and engineering designs for all telecom network facilities including digital microwave- packet, fiber optics, WAN and data communications equipment, ancillary systems, and leased telecommunications services.
Responsible for assisting in the management and prioritization of an annual functional budget and capital budget for transport network improvements in concert with related network planning, business case development, and engineering design.
Responsible for development and compliance of engineering standards including documentation, product, lifecycle plans, and design packages.
Responsible for coordinating supplemental engineering service providers and/or contractors performing transport/telecommunications engineering design.
Responsible for providing support to other Southern Company Operating Companies and/or Partners on issues related to transport network planning, engineering design, and engineering consulting.
Responsible for developing and participation in the successful completion of specified fiber projects within Southern Company territory to include Fiber to Distribution network, long haul fiber, and GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Networks) technology.
Responsible for providing third-level maintenance (reactive, preventative, and quality assurance) support as well as backup maintenance /installation coverage related to the identified networks / equipment at specific Southern Company locations.
Responsible for recommending and coordinating monitoring systems for any new telecommunications systems to include models for monitoring systems.

JOB SUMMARY:
Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Corporate Fleet Plant Support Department provides support for the Southern Nuclear Fleet. We are seeking an experienced IST engineer. This position is responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance in IST. The successful candidate should have experience with IST, and an understanding of the ASME OM Code used in the nuclear plant environment. Activities involve identifying industry best practices, developing/maintaining fleet procedures, setting a strategic vision, participation in industry working groups, and troubleshooting problems.
The job can be located at any of our SNC Plant site, Plant Farley, Plant Hatch, or Plant Vogtle or at the Corporate HQ location in Birmingham. The candidate must live within 1 hour of one of these locations to support ERO duties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university, or Professional Engineer license, is required. (Engineering Technology will not be accepted).
Mechanical discipline is preferred. Nuclear, Civil, Chemical, and Electrical Engineering degrees will be considered based upon the candidate's experience.
Experience Preferences:

Reliability Engineer - Multiple Positions
Reports to: Zachary Nelson, Engineering Supervisor, Power Delivery Systems and Standards
This posting will fill 2 location specific positions and 1 position providing statewide support that are not location specific. The 2 location specific positions will support the Smyrna & Rome Distribution Areas, and Jonesboro & Columbus Distribution Areas. The position that is not location specific will help support Distribution Reliability responsibilities related to annual Asset Management programs across the state.
Rome & Smyrna Reliability Engineer Location : The successful candidate will report to an Operating Headquarters within the Rome or Smyrna Distribution Area and must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the Operating Headquarters in those areas. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates if needed.
Columbus & Jonesboro Reliability Engineer Location : The successful candidate will report to an Operating Headquarters within the Columbus or Jonesboro Distribution Area and must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the Operating Headquarters in those areas. JOB SUMMARY
One of these Reliability Engineering positions will primarily be responsible for supporting Asset Management projects throughout the state. This positions was added to gain efficiencies and support the additional workload created by our transition to vacuum interrupting programmable protective equipment. This new functionalized portion of our Distribution Reliability team will enable us to better support annual Asset Management replacement programs for hydraulic reclosers, cubicles and SF6 devices. These positions will also assist with the programming of non-SCADA protective equipment associated with the statewide Grid Investment initiative. The successful candidates must be a champion of Safety Excellence. Safety and attention to detail are paramount in this position. Therefore, the successful candidate will be expected to incorporate appropriate safety measures into all aspects of their job. He or she will also be expected to engineer and manage their projects efficiently, in order to keep Asset Management projects, and Grid Investment projects, on schedule.
The Reliability Engineering position supporting Asset Management will assist with and coordinate all work needed to program and commission electronic devices installed on the distribution system. Duties include working with and around low voltage. Similar to the Area Reliability Engineer positions, the successful candidates will work closely with area engineering, operating personnel, and Asset Management, providing them with technical expertise, breaker relay settings and protective device relay settings in support of Asset Management equipment replacements. This will require interaction with multiple work groups including P&C Applications, Operations Support and P&C Field Services &/or Distribution Automation. To be effective, the successful candidates must be capable of communicating, building rapport, and establishing professional working relationships with all of their peers and these cross-functional teams across Power Delivery. As with all Distribution Reliability Engineering positions, he or she will be responsible for proper implementation of Company reliability strategies and ensuring proper coordination of protective schemes. These positions will also assist with other corporate reliability projects and initiatives as needed.
The Area Reliability Engineer's primary responsibilities are to support distribution reliability needs in his or her assigned area(s) and to also support GPC distribution reliability initiatives by assisting with corporate reliability projects throughout the state. The successful candidate must be a champion of Safety Excellence. Safety and attention to detail are paramount in this position. Therefore, the successful candidate will be expected to incorporate appropriate safety measures into all aspects of their job. He or she will be expected to engineer and manage their projects efficiently, on schedule, and without service interruptions.
The Area Reliability Engineer will be required to perform field investigations, analyze outage management system data, SCADA data, and metering data to determine root causes impacting distribution reliability and then engineer solutions to optimize system performance. This position will perform circuit studies within their assigned area(s) and in other areas around the state based on priority of corporate reliability objectives. All reliability projects must be thoroughly evaluated to ensure maximize effectiveness.
The responsibilities of this position also include working with the Distribution Automation team on commissioning, testing, and maintaining distribution automation equipment, protective relays, controls, and communication equipment. The Area Reliability Engineer will perform, in conjunction with the Distribution Automation group, all work needed to program and commission electronic devices installed on the distribution system. Duties include working with and around low voltage.
The successful candidate will be considered the subject matter expert on protection and coordination in their assigned area(s). He or she will work closely with area engineering, Distribution Planning, Area Planning, Renewables, and the TMC organization, providing them with technical expertise, breaker relay settings and protective device relay settings as needed. This will require interaction with multiple work groups including P&C Applications, Operations Support and P&C Field Services &/or Distribution Automation. He or she will be responsible for proper implementation of Company reliability strategies and ensuring proper coordination of protective schemes. When system upgrades occur, the Area Reliability Engineer must also ensure that protective equipment is sized appropriately, both in terms of continuous load carrying capacity and fault interrupting capability.
The Area Reliability Engineer will be utilized as a technical resource and is required to demonstrate the skills obtained in GPC Level II Distribution Certification courses. He or she will provide guidance on customer related inquiries and distributed generation interconnection evaluations as needed. This position will review outage data regularly for quality assurance and monitor trends in performance. Periodically, he or she will be required to investigate device operations to ensure proper coordination and take corrective action(s) if necessary.
The Area Reliability Engineer must maintain visibility, communicate effectively, promptly respond to concerns, and provide SERP & Supervisor On Call support for their assigned area(s). The successful candidate must be capable of building rapport and establishing professional working relationships with all GPC stakeholders.

The 2 location specific positions will support the Smyrna & Rome Distribution Areas, and Jonesboro & Columbus Distribution Areas. The position that is not location specific will help support Distribution Reliability responsibilities related to annual Asset Management programs across the state.
Rome & Smyrna Reliability Engineer Location : The successful candidate will report to an Operating Headquarters within the Rome or Smyrna Distribution Area and must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the Operating Headquarters in those areas. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates if needed.
Columbus & Jonesboro Reliability Engineer Location : The successful candidate will report to an Operating Headquarters within the Columbus or Jonesboro Distribution Area and must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the Operating Headquarters in those areas. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates if needed.
Reliability Engineer(s) - Asset Management Locations : State of Georgia. Not required to report to a specific Operating Headquarters location.
JOB SUMMARY
One of these Reliability Engineering positions will primarily be responsible for supporting Asset Management projects throughout the state. This positions was added to gain efficiencies and support the additional workload created by our transition to vacuum interrupting programmable protective equipment. This new functionalized portion of our Distribution Reliability team will enable us to better support annual Asset Management replacement programs for hydraulic reclosers, cubicles and SF6 devices. These positions will also assist with the programming of non-SCADA protective equipment associated with the statewide Grid Investment initiative. The successful candidates must be a champion of Safety Excellence. Safety and attention to detail are paramount in this position. Therefore, the successful candidate will be expected to incorporate appropriate safety measures into all aspects of their job. He or she will also be expected to engineer and manage their projects efficiently, in order to keep Asset Management projects, and Grid Investment projects, on schedule.
The Reliability Engineering position supporting Asset Management will assist with and coordinate all work needed to program and commission electronic devices installed on the distribution system. Duties include working with and around low voltage. Similar to the Area Reliability Engineer positions, the successful candidates will work closely with area engineering, operating personnel, and Asset Management, providing them with technical expertise, breaker relay settings and protective device relay settings in support of Asset Management equipment replacements. This will require interaction with multiple work groups including P&C Applications, Operations Support and P&C Field Services &/or Distribution Automation. To be effective, the successful candidates must be capable of communicating, building rapport, and establishing professional working relationships with all of their peers and these cross-functional teams across Power Delivery. As with all Distribution Reliability Engineering positions, he or she will be responsible for proper implementation of Company reliability strategies and ensuring proper coordination of protective schemes. These positions will also assist with other corporate reliability projects and initiatives as needed.
The Area Reliability Engineer's primary responsibilities are to support distribution reliability needs in his or her assigned area(s) and to also support GPC distribution reliability initiatives by assisting with corporate reliability projects throughout the state. The successful candidate must be a champion of Safety Excellence. Safety and attention to detail are paramount in this position. Therefore, the successful candidate will be expected to incorporate appropriate safety measures into all aspects of their job. He or she will be expected to engineer and manage their projects efficiently, on schedule, and without service interruptions.
The Area Reliability Engineer will be required to perform field investigations, analyze outage management system data, SCADA data, and metering data to determine root causes impacting distribution reliability and then engineer solutions to optimize system performance. This position will perform circuit studies within their assigned area(s) and in other areas around the state based on priority of corporate reliability objectives. All reliability projects must be thoroughly evaluated to ensure maximize effectiveness.
The responsibilities of this position also include working with the Distribution Automation team on commissioning, testing, and maintaining distribution automation equipment, protective relays, controls, and communication equipment. The Area Reliability Engineer will perform, in conjunction with the Distribution Automation group, all work needed to program and commission electronic devices installed on the distribution system. Duties include working with and around low voltage.
The successful candidate will be considered the subject matter expert on protection and coordination in their assigned area(s). He or she will work closely with area engineering, Distribution Planning, Area Planning, Renewables, and the TMC organization, providing them with technical expertise, breaker relay settings and protective device relay settings as needed. This will require interaction with multiple work groups including P&C Applications, Operations Support and P&C Field Services &/or Distribution Automation. He or she will be responsible for proper implementation of Company reliability strategies and ensuring proper coordination of protective schemes. When system upgrades occur, the Area Reliability Engineer must also ensure that protective equipment is sized appropriately, both in terms of continuous load carrying capacity and fault interrupting capability.
The Area Reliability Engineer will be utilized as a technical resource and is required to demonstrate the skills obtained in GPC Level II Distribution Certification courses. He or she will provide guidance on customer related inquiries and distributed generation interconnection evaluations as needed. This position will review outage data regularly for quality assurance and monitor trends in performance. Periodically, he or she will be required to investigate device operations to ensure proper coordination and take corrective action(s) if necessary.
The Area Reliability Engineer must maintain visibility, communicate effectively, promptly respond to concerns, and provide SERP & Supervisor On Call support for their assigned area(s). The successful candidate must be capable of building rapport and establishing professional working relationships with all GPC stakeholders.
