Reliability Engineer - Multiple Positions
Reports to: Zachary Nelson, Engineering Supervisor, Power Delivery Systems and Standards
This posting will fill 2 location specific positions and 1 position providing statewide support that are not location specific. The 2 location specific positions will support the Smyrna & Rome Distribution Areas, and Jonesboro & Columbus Distribution Areas. The position that is not location specific will help support Distribution Reliability responsibilities related to annual Asset Management programs across the state.
Rome & Smyrna Reliability Engineer Location : The successful candidate will report to an Operating Headquarters within the Rome or Smyrna Distribution Area and must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the Operating Headquarters in those areas. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates if needed.
Columbus & Jonesboro Reliability Engineer Location : The successful candidate will report to an Operating Headquarters within the Columbus or Jonesboro Distribution Area and must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the Operating Headquarters in those areas. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates if needed.
Reliability Engineer(s) - Asset Management Locations : State of Georgia. Not required to report to a specific Operating Headquarters location.
JOB SUMMARY
One of these Reliability Engineering positions will primarily be responsible for supporting Asset Management projects throughout the state. This positions was added to gain efficiencies and support the additional workload created by our transition to vacuum interrupting programmable protective equipment. This new functionalized portion of our Distribution Reliability team will enable us to better support annual Asset Management replacement programs for hydraulic reclosers, cubicles and SF6 devices. These positions will also assist with the programming of non-SCADA protective equipment associated with the statewide Grid Investment initiative. The successful candidates must be a champion of Safety Excellence. Safety and attention to detail are paramount in this position. Therefore, the successful candidate will be expected to incorporate appropriate safety measures into all aspects of their job. He or she will also be expected to engineer and manage their projects efficiently, in order to keep Asset Management projects, and Grid Investment projects, on schedule.
The Reliability Engineering position supporting Asset Management will assist with and coordinate all work needed to program and commission electronic devices installed on the distribution system. Duties include working with and around low voltage. Similar to the Area Reliability Engineer positions, the successful candidates will work closely with area engineering, operating personnel, and Asset Management, providing them with technical expertise, breaker relay settings and protective device relay settings in support of Asset Management equipment replacements. This will require interaction with multiple work groups including P&C Applications, Operations Support and P&C Field Services &/or Distribution Automation. To be effective, the successful candidates must be capable of communicating, building rapport, and establishing professional working relationships with all of their peers and these cross-functional teams across Power Delivery. As with all Distribution Reliability Engineering positions, he or she will be responsible for proper implementation of Company reliability strategies and ensuring proper coordination of protective schemes. These positions will also assist with other corporate reliability projects and initiatives as needed.
The Area Reliability Engineer's primary responsibilities are to support distribution reliability needs in his or her assigned area(s) and to also support GPC distribution reliability initiatives by assisting with corporate reliability projects throughout the state. The successful candidate must be a champion of Safety Excellence. Safety and attention to detail are paramount in this position. Therefore, the successful candidate will be expected to incorporate appropriate safety measures into all aspects of their job. He or she will be expected to engineer and manage their projects efficiently, on schedule, and without service interruptions.
The Area Reliability Engineer will be required to perform field investigations, analyze outage management system data, SCADA data, and metering data to determine root causes impacting distribution reliability and then engineer solutions to optimize system performance. This position will perform circuit studies within their assigned area(s) and in other areas around the state based on priority of corporate reliability objectives. All reliability projects must be thoroughly evaluated to ensure maximize effectiveness.
The responsibilities of this position also include working with the Distribution Automation team on commissioning, testing, and maintaining distribution automation equipment, protective relays, controls, and communication equipment. The Area Reliability Engineer will perform, in conjunction with the Distribution Automation group, all work needed to program and commission electronic devices installed on the distribution system. Duties include working with and around low voltage.
The successful candidate will be considered the subject matter expert on protection and coordination in their assigned area(s). He or she will work closely with area engineering, Distribution Planning, Area Planning, Renewables, and the TMC organization, providing them with technical expertise, breaker relay settings and protective device relay settings as needed. This will require interaction with multiple work groups including P&C Applications, Operations Support and P&C Field Services &/or Distribution Automation. He or she will be responsible for proper implementation of Company reliability strategies and ensuring proper coordination of protective schemes. When system upgrades occur, the Area Reliability Engineer must also ensure that protective equipment is sized appropriately, both in terms of continuous load carrying capacity and fault interrupting capability.
The Area Reliability Engineer will be utilized as a technical resource and is required to demonstrate the skills obtained in GPC Level II Distribution Certification courses. He or she will provide guidance on customer related inquiries and distributed generation interconnection evaluations as needed. This position will review outage data regularly for quality assurance and monitor trends in performance. Periodically, he or she will be required to investigate device operations to ensure proper coordination and take corrective action(s) if necessary.
The Area Reliability Engineer must maintain visibility, communicate effectively, promptly respond to concerns, and provide SERP & Supervisor On Call support for their assigned area(s). The successful candidate must be capable of building rapport and establishing professional working relationships with all GPC stakeholders.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a degree in a related field (i.e. Mathematics, Science); 4-year ABET accredited degree is required
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is a plus
Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred

Knowledge of Microsoft office products and other related engineering software systems is preferred.
Working knowledge of CymTCC and CymDist is preferred.
Proven experience in writing and executing switching orders.
Must possess effective project management and organizational skills

Knowledge of Georgia Power Company Distribution Bulletins, the Engineering Handbook & other relevant Company guidelines is preferred.

Other Requirements:
Candidate must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Position requires walking through rough and uneven terrain.
Candidate must be able to lift or move approximately 25 pounds of equipment and materials.
Familiarity with hand tools and test equipment to repair mechanical and/or electrical equipment is desired.
Must be willing to serve in the supervisor on-call rotation at the assigned work location.
Availability for local area emergency assistance after hours, nights, weekends and holidays is required.
Ability to support restoration efforts in state and out of state is required.
Must be available to travel overnight and provide statewide support while working alone and driving to remote locations.

The Reliability Engineering position supporting Asset Management will assist with and coordinate all work needed to program and commission electronic devices installed on the distribution system. Duties include working with and around low voltage. Similar to the Area Reliability Engineer positions, the successful candidates will work closely with area engineering, operating personnel, and Asset Management, providing them with technical expertise, breaker relay settings and protective device relay settings in support of Asset Management equipment replacements. This will require interaction with multiple work groups including P&C Applications, Operations Support and P&C Field Services &/or Distribution Automation. To be effective, the successful candidates must be capable of communicating, building rapport, and establishing professional working relationships with all of their peers and these cross-functional teams across Power Delivery. As with all Distribution Reliability Engineering positions, he or she will be responsible for proper implementation of Company reliability strategies and ensuring proper coordination of protective schemes. These positions will also assist with other corporate reliability projects and initiatives as needed.
The Area Reliability Engineer's primary responsibilities are to support distribution reliability needs in his or her assigned area(s) and to also support GPC distribution reliability initiatives by assisting with corporate reliability projects throughout the state. The Area Reliability Engineer will be required to perform field investigations, analyze outage management system data, SCADA data, and metering data to determine root causes impacting distribution reliability and then engineer solutions to optimize system performance. This position will perform circuit studies within their assigned area(s) and in other areas around the state based on priority of corporate reliability objectives. All reliability projects must be thoroughly evaluated to ensure maximize effectiveness.
The responsibilities of this position also include working with the Distribution Automation team on commissioning, testing, and maintaining distribution automation equipment, protective relays, controls, and communication equipment. The Area Reliability Engineer will perform, in conjunction with the Distribution Automation group, all work needed to program and commission electronic devices installed on the distribution system. Duties include working with and around low voltage.
The successful candidate will be considered the subject matter expert on protection and coordination in their assigned area(s). He or she will work closely with area engineering, Distribution Planning, Area Planning, Renewables, and the TMC organization, providing them with technical expertise, breaker relay settings and protective device relay settings as needed. This will require interaction with multiple work groups including P&C Applications, Operations Support and P&C Field Services &/or Distribution Automation. He or she will be responsible for proper implementation of Company reliability strategies and ensuring proper coordination of protective schemes. When system upgrades occur, the Area Reliability Engineer must also ensure that protective equipment is sized appropriately, both in terms of continuous load carrying capacity and fault interrupting capability.
The Area Reliability Engineer will be utilized as a technical resource and is required to demonstrate the skills obtained in GPC Level II Distribution Certification courses. He or she will provide guidance on customer related inquiries and distributed generation interconnection evaluations as needed. This position will review outage data regularly for quality assurance and monitor trends in performance. Periodically, he or she will be required to investigate device operations to ensure proper coordination and take corrective action(s) if necessary.
The Area Reliability Engineer must maintain visibility, communicate effectively, promptly respond to concerns, and provide SERP & Supervisor On Call support for their assigned area(s). The successful candidate must be capable of building rapport and establishing professional working relationships with all GPC stakeholders.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a degree in a related field (i.e. Mathematics, Science); 4-year ABET accredited degree is required
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is a plus

System engineers: ensure the reliability of assigned plant systems. They solve system and component problems, provide direct technical support for operation and maintenance, and plan long term performance improvements.
Program and component engineers: direct implementation of assigned programs and work processes. Typical assignments are fire protection, Equipment Qualification, in-service inspection, in-service testing, NRC Maintenance Rule compliance, MOV/AOV/Heat Exchanger/Check valve component programs, cable monitoring, instrument & controls, flow accelerated corrosion, and/or snubber testing.
Design engineers: duties include preparation / coordination of designs, calculations, drawings, cost estimates and schedules for plant modifications and retrofits. Work involves field walk downs for constructability and some construction coordination.
Reactor engineers ensure the reliability of assigned plant systems. They perform fuel inspections and specifies fuel movement determinations, perform physics testing, support operations in control rod movements, conduct surveillance testing of reactor core, lead spent fuel audits, and perform reactor engineering calculations.

Cyber Security Engineers or Cyber Security Analysts: Provide technical leadership, execution, guidance, and monitoring of the Vogtle 3&4 Cyber Security Program. The Cyber Security Engineer/Analyst will also be tasked with maintaining programmatic aspects for site digital assets while interfacing with several departments including Site Security, Operations, Emergency Preparedness, and all engineering departments.
Engineers at Southern Nuclear may have opportunities to manage special projects. Also, engineers typically take key refueling outage assignments. Future developmental assignments in operations, maintenance, training, or quality assurance often prepare engineers for supervisory and management positions. JOB SUMMARY

System engineers: ensure the reliability of assigned plant systems. They solve system and component problems, provide direct technical support for operation and maintenance, and plan long term performance improvements.
Program and component engineers: direct implementation of assigned programs and work processes. Typical assignments are fire protection, Equipment Qualification, in-service inspection, in-service testing, NRC Maintenance Rule compliance, MOV/AOV/Heat Exchanger/Check valve component programs, cable monitoring, instrument & controls, flow accelerated corrosion, and/or snubber testing.
Design engineers: duties include preparation / coordination of designs, calculations, drawings, cost estimates and schedules for plant modifications and retrofits. Work involves field walk downs for constructability and some construction coordination.
Reactor engineers ensure the reliability of assigned plant systems. They perform fuel inspections and specifies fuel movement determinations, perform physics testing, support operations in control rod movements, conduct surveillance testing of reactor core, lead spent fuel audits, and perform reactor engineering calculations.

This position will provide Digital I&C support by preparing engineering calculations, performing engineering studies, developing cost estimates for design changes, reviewing vendor correspondence, performing conceptual design studies, performing design changes, performing design bases maintenance, performing equivalency determinations, as well as monitoring and providing technical recommendations and Long-Range Planning for assigned digital systems and components.
Cyber Security Engineers or Cyber Security Analysts: Provide technical leadership, execution, guidance, and monitoring of the Vogtle 3&4 Cyber Security Program. The Cyber Security Engineer/Analyst will also be tasked with maintaining programmatic aspects for site digital assets while interfacing with several departments including Site Security, Operations, Emergency Preparedness, and all engineering departments.
Engineers at Southern Nuclear may have opportunities to manage special projects. Also, engineers typically take key refueling outage assignments. Future developmental assignments in operations, maintenance, training, or quality assurance often prepare engineers for supervisory and management positions. Engineering assignments typically include on-call duty engineer and emergency plan response requirements.

JOB SUMMARY
This position supports Operations Services to provide thought leadership on strategic technology direction. At its core, this position ensures that our technology investments (cost, people, and infrastructure) are optimal, adheres to standards and is aligned with GAS Technology Solutions and the business. Consideration must be given to all technology delivery components, including resources, hardware, software, and outside services. The Technology Planning Analyst is depended on to provide thought leadership on technology direction and decisions based on emerging technologies, industry trends, best practices, and sound business processes. Planning and analysis responsibilities include defining and supporting investments that enable achievement of business objectives and advance the company's capabilities to provide a competitive advantage. The position builds and maintains strategic partnerships, clarifies and documents needs and business processes, elicit requirements, and supports business cases. The position may also lead the execution of technology projects, including requirements gathering, ideation, support business case development in partnership with multiple stakeholders and contractors, technology evaluation and acquisition, and overall planning and delivery activities. This position is responsible for promoting and supporting the realization of what is possible with technology.

Understand and articulate the mission, vision, goals, strategic and tactical initiatives of GAS Technology and the business teams in Operation Services; develop strategic technology plans with the business units on a company, team, or system-wide basis

Anticipate and communicate the business unit's technology needs to the technology organization to ensure that technology priorities are established, prioritized, and driven by the business needs to maximize value of technology investments

Support and assist KAMs in meeting customer service goals as measured by the annual Net Promoter Score (NPS) survey

Perform rate studies for commercial and industrial customers, including comparisons for RTP, meter totalizations, Time-of-Use and other rate options, using interval load data
Provide data analysis and feedback to team members
Provide daily on-call support to customers; act as the primary contact for customers in KAM's absence; respond to billing inquiries and requests for service
Act as the primary contact between the customer, Special Service Accounts, Distribution and the Customer Care Center
Point of contact for daytime CENS rotation
Provide 24-hour support for managed customers during widespread and localized severe weather events

This position supports Operations Services to provide thought leadership on strategic technology direction. Planning and analysis responsibilities include defining and supporting investments that enable achievement of business objectives and advance the company's capabilities to provide a competitive advantage. The position builds and maintains strategic partnerships, clarifies and documents needs and business processes, elicit requirements, and supports business cases. Understand and articulate the mission, vision, goals, strategic and tactical initiatives of GAS Technology and the business teams in Operation Services; develop strategic technology plans with the business units on a company, team, or system-wide basis
Understand and articulate the mission, vision, goals, strategic and tactical initiatives of the technology organization
Anticipate and communicate the business unit's technology needs to the technology organization to ensure that technology priorities are established, prioritized, and driven by the business needs to maximize value of technology investments
Communicate technology initiatives and updates and educate on technology capabilities and opportunities to the business unit and represent the business unit's interests/concerns/issues on these points
Provide active support in the development, communication, and implementation of technology strategic plans and initiatives. Consults with business stakeholders on technology capabilities and on TO products and services

The Data Sales Executive (DSE) is responsible for selling company data products into a defined market. Core responsibilities include presenting the suite of products and services in the Southern Linc data solution portfolio. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to sell and market all data products in the Southern Linc portfolio
Supporting Southern Linc Sales Team's with use case development, sales calls, data solution training for fixed and mobile products and services, and data demos
Support the indirect channel of distribution for data sales
Perform onboarding and offboarding activities for customers, including scheduling meetings and demos either onsite or remote
Maintain an active sales forecast utilizing reporting tools

JOB SUMMARY
This position will be required to handle all of the day-to-day engineering work activities in an assigned area. Description
This position will help lead efforts to ensure Southern Company complies with the Payment Card Industry Standards as well as assist with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) of 2002. Job Responsibilities

Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Plant Vogtle Engineering organization is seeking a high performing engineer with an analytical mindset and a desire to become an expert in programmatic and technical matters in the area of nuclear plant fire protection design. This position will be located at Southern Nuclear's Plant Vogtle units 1&2 in Waynesboro, Georgia near Augusta, GA.
Southern Nuclear, a subsidiary of Southern Company, manages and operates six nuclear power electric generating plants that provide approximately 20 percent of the electricity used in Alabama and Georgia. Southern Nuclear is leading the nuclear renaissance by building the first new U.S. nuclear reactors in more than 25 years. When completed, the two Westinghouse AP1000 reactors currently under construction at Plant Vogtle will make the facility the largest in the U.S. with four reactors on one site. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide code and program expertise. Ensure program compliance with codes, standards, and regulations.
Prepare for NRC/INPO pre-operational inspections.
Monitor the testing and performance of the fire protection detection and suppression systems.
Review design/field changes for accuracy, program impact, and functional testing.
Develop and improve Preventive Maintenance tasks based on corrective actions and monitoring, Operating Experience, and PM feedback.
Develop and/or/provide technical support in the development of surveillance testing, fire protection pre-plans, and impairment monitoring and reporting processes.
Ensure appropriate training and guidance and appropriate reference materials are provided for station personnel who perform or review fire protection documents. Participate in and assess fire drills and emergency response exercises.
Review and respond to industry Operating Experience.
