JOB SUMMARY
This position is for a Southern Company Technology Organization (TO) End User Analyst, I that will partner with Southern Company Services (SCS) and related operating companies to provide technology consulting to business partners to deliver automated or enhanced technological solutions based on the business partner's personal use of technology. Focus is on restoration activities and support responsibilities of assigned business units/sites for whom they will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to educate and train business partners on the use of Southern Company standard products and services. Provides project coordination on technological projects for business partners. This position supports business partners located in Alabama Power Divisions based out of Birmingham, Montgomery or Tuscaloosa.
Education
Two-year degree in a Technology-related field or equivalent military and/or work experience is required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field is preferred
Major Responsibilities
Monitor and resolve break/fix incidents
Proactively provide consulting that includes technology needs assessments, potential solutions, and automation opportunities
Partner with the business and other TO departments for incident and problem resolution
Provide specialized dedicated technical support as requested by business partners
Proactively identify opportunities to educate business partners on leveraging the use of technology more effectively
Provide small project management, planning, coordination, and/or technical support during project implementations
Build effective relationships with key business partners and provide outstanding customer service
Partner with fellow TO End User Analysts, TO Planning Analysts, Application Portfolio teams, and other TO groups to form a strong, dedicated support team
Consult with business partners to ensure an understanding of technology costs of TO products and services (for budgeting and billing purposes)
Partner with other TO personnel to provide support (including after-hours as needed) for storm-related and critical 24/7 business operations
Become aware of and stay abreast of emerging hardware and software technologies

Records gas consumption data from residential, industrial, and commercial customers using electronic remote reading device mounted in company vehicle; reports data for Marketers to use for customer billing. Performs installations and programming of ERTs. Performs basic tasks including using hand tools, corrosion inspections, meter paints, reading meters (manually and electronically). This is a bargaining unit position (IBEW Local 1997).
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Downloads meter reading route(s) daily; enters route information into electronic data collection units in vehicle; drives route and collects data from Encoder Receiver Transmitter (ERTs) mounted on customers' meters; uploads data at end of the route.
Maintains and regularly updates electronic equipment (handhelds, Mobile Collectors, and etc.) to ensure accurate readings.
Troubleshoots ERT problems and Missed Meters: inspects, reprograms, repairs, maintains, removes, reinstalls ERTs and indexes.Enters change data into Meter History System (MHS), and Georgia Customer Management Application (GCMA).
Efficiently works work-order route to complete orders in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures and operator qualifications procedures.
Conducts investigations of high bill complaints, stop meters, and special reading by meter reading validation.
Performs regular meter inspections and paints
Ensures truck is stocked with equipment, supplies, tools, and other equipment in a neat and orderly condition.
Observes all safety requirements and regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance.
Safely operations company assigned vehicles in performance of assignments.
Occasional face-to-face interaction with customers via phone to obtain information and answer questions.
Identifies problems concerning customers assigned to wrong route, converts non-ERT meters to ERT system, updates systems and corrects problems.

This position is responsible for designing, analyzing, attaining necessary approvals for, and supporting the implementation of customer pricing initiatives that strengthen the goals of the Company. Responsibilities of this position
Summarize large data sets and utility concepts. Present results in emails, formal communications, white papers and management presentations for internal and external use
Analyze innovative price design initiatives that provide flexible options for customers while maintaining appropriate cost recovery for the Company. Analysis requires use of computer programs, particularly Excel

Education

Southern Nuclear Operating Company's corporate Nuclear Fuel and Analysis Department, PWR Fuel Engineering, provides support and performance in the fuel and reactor engineering functional area for the PWR Southern Nuclear Fleet. We are seeking an individual capable of driving and executing strategic initiatives in nuclear core physics, advanced fuel mechanical design, and innovation in the fuel and reactor engineering functional area. The position is located at the SNC Corporate Office in Birmingham, AL, and will require up to approximately 25% travel.
This position will be responsible for performing activities related to nuclear fuel and core design, licensing and operation; transient and accident analyses; and technical evaluations regarding nuclear fuel vendor fabrication and design capabilities for current and advanced fuel products. This position may be required to support the fleet Emergency Response Organization. This requires personnel to live within one hour of the SNC ERO facility for emergency response availability.
The position will be filled at an exempt level 6 or below, commensurate with experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college OR Professional Engineer (P.E.) license/certification required OR accredited undergraduate degree in an Applied Science, Mathematics, AND a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from an accredited program.
Professional Engineer license/certification or advanced degree is highly preferred.
Experience Requirements:
Knowledge of nuclear fuel and nuclear fuel thermal-hydraulic engineering analyses.
Demonstrated knowledge of complex nuclear fuel design and core design analysis codes.
Knowledge of nuclear fuel related FSAR and Technical Specifications and site procedures to perform fuel related operation support.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Westinghouse codes and methods, such as NEXUS/ANC9, VIPRE-W, BOA, BEACON, etc.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Studsvik codes is desired.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with loading pattern development is desired.
3 or more years of experience in PWR fuel engineering or PWR reactor engineering preferred.

PowerSecure has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Electrical Designer (Entry Level ) to join our team located in Durham, NC. This is a hybrid work environment-on-site and remote. The primary duties of the Electrical Designer I (Entry Level) are to provide design services for the design and implementation of all DI Products at the Randleman/RTP, NC facility. The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing and business processes with the use of lean manufacturing techniques. This position will be filled as a Journeyman Lineman. This position is responsible for working in a line crew on overhead and underground construction and maintenance of distribution systems. This position is responsible for responding to and correcting problems with the electrical distribution system during normal working hours, after hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
Job Responsibilities
Candidate must safely perform any work normally or reasonably required in this classification. This position builds, maintains, inspects, trouble-shoots, replaces, and repairs distribution power lines, poles, and related equipment according to Company specifications and manufacturer's recommendations. Successful candidate will review work orders and determine material needed to complete jobs; along with being able to safely load wire coils, poles, equipment, and materials onto trucks. Candidate is responsible for using hand tools to assemble materials, connectors, brackets, and other equipment in preparation for installation on pole-lines or underground systems. This position frequently works aerially from a ladder, lift bucket, and pole-climbing tools to remove/replace/repair equipment. Successful candidate must climb utility poles and other structures. This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining tools/trucks. Successful candidate must maintain regular attendance and comply with all safety procedures, practices and requirements. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate in person, by radio, and by phone to various company personnel in the normal course of duties. If this position is filled as an apprentice, the applicant will complete a prescribed Journeyman Development Program.

GIS Development Specialist
Description
This position will be responsible for providing information derived from GIS tools and technologies to support APC's growth focused business units in the Customer Service Organization, including Corporate and Division Economic & Community Development, Business Intelligence, and Account Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering requirements and implementing solutions from a wide range of data sources, analytics, and formats.

Cloud Data (EIX) Product Manager
Description
The Energy Information eXchange (EIX) product manager is responsible for managing, supporting, and prioritizing product enhancements, maintenance, and requests for EIX. EIX enables Southern Company to share data with approved customers and partners in a quick and secure manner via an API-based approach.
This role will manage implementation, adoption, and ongoing use of EIX while following agile methodologies and bridging the gap of data availability, technology, and business use cases. Functional Expertise:

Laboratory Specialist
Description
The Materials Testing Analyst is responsible for maintaining the material quality assurance program, which is accomplished through on-site manufacturing inspections, incoming material sampling inspections, and material analysis and reporting of in-service material failures. The Materials Testing Analyst is also responsible for lab activities in support of testing and evaluating new materials to be used in the gas system. This position will also evaluate new technologies and assist in the implementation, tracking and reporting on status of the technology being introduced. Analyst responds to corporate-wide, material-based requests for technical support.
Functional Expertise:
Establishes testing protocols for tools and materials with guidance from industry standards such as ASTM, ANSI and API. Conducts testing and ensures all laboratory equipment is maintained to the appropriate standards.
Develops and implements statistical sampling of incoming materials to ensure material quality. Compares sampling results against the product requirements specified in the purchase order.
Sets criteria and operates equipment and tools in order to evaluate their performance.
Conducts root-cause analysis of in-use materials/tools deemed defective or to have failed.
Writes formal, analytical communications including approval reports, corrective action reports, material standards, procedures, and operating manuals.
