Laboratory Specialist
Description
The Materials Testing Analyst is responsible for maintaining the material quality assurance program, which is accomplished through on-site manufacturing inspections, incoming material sampling inspections, and material analysis and reporting of in-service material failures. The Materials Testing Analyst is also responsible for lab activities in support of testing and evaluating new materials to be used in the gas system. This position will also evaluate new technologies and assist in the implementation, tracking and reporting on status of the technology being introduced. Analyst responds to corporate-wide, material-based requests for technical support.
Functional Expertise:
Establishes testing protocols for tools and materials with guidance from industry standards such as ASTM, ANSI and API. Conducts testing and ensures all laboratory equipment is maintained to the appropriate standards.
Develops and implements statistical sampling of incoming materials to ensure material quality. Compares sampling results against the product requirements specified in the purchase order.
Sets criteria and operates equipment and tools in order to evaluate their performance.
Conducts root-cause analysis of in-use materials/tools deemed defective or to have failed.
Writes formal, analytical communications including approval reports, corrective action reports, material standards, procedures, and operating manuals.
Performs gas analysis utilizing gas chromatography

Prepares communication plan in regards to the introduction of new products, changes to existing products, and material failure analysis response.

Interacts with third party labs for specialized testing.

Providing oversight of natural gas transmission and distribution infrastructure construction projects

JOB SUMMARY
This Executive Assistant position provides support for the Vice President of Community and Economic Development and requires someone with extensive experience in the administrative field supporting an officer in a corporate environment. The most qualified candidates will possess exceptional organizational and decision-making skills, strong working knowledge of computer applications and administrative best practices, and the ability and desire to work through changing priorities with minimal supervision. The Executive Assistant works closely with executive offices across the Southern Company footprint to manage calendar and travel arrangements. This position views significant confidential information and must be able to maintain that confidentiality.
** This position does allow for a hybrid work environment.

Description
* THIS IS A BELOW GROUND POSITION
Entry level position as a member of a crew engaged in installing, maintaining, and repairing gas mains and service lines. Performs basic tasks including operating heavy equipment, using hand tools, basic leak investigation, assisting in mechanical joining, landscape maintenance and traffic control. Responsible for completing a variety of tasks in support of field operations to include deactivation of service, delayed match, corrosion inspections, meter paints, reading meters and assisting with other maintenance activities as needed. Performs meter reading, ERT installations and ERT programming in conjunction Automated Meter Reading duties. This is a bargaining unit position (IBEW Local 1997). This position will have an automatic progression pursuant to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
Provides assistance with all distribution activities involved with the installation, repair and maintenance of the distribution system to include:
Operating basic equipment and tools
Traffic control
Landscaping and general maintenance
Digging, shoring, repairing leaks, testing and wrapping pipes
Pressure recording devices
Uses a variety of tools (hand, air, shovels, etc.) while performing distribution crew activities.
Ensures truck is stocked with equipment, supplies, tools and other equipment in neat and orderly condition.
Efficiently works a route to complete customer and compliance orders in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures and operator qualifications procedures.
Observes all safety requirements and regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance.
Actively and accurately captures documentation in the Mobile Data Terminal and recognizes abnormal operating conditions such as corrosion, meters under stress, etc.
Assists in connecting and disconnecting gas service, manually turning meters on and off.
Assists in conducting investigations of high bill complaints, stop meters and special readings by meter reading validation.
Assists in performing regular meter inspections, paints and maintenance of above and below ground gas systems.
Responds to questions from customers and provides answers directly or by referral.
Operates Automated Dispatch system to complete meter reads and turn-offs service at customer's premise.
Identifies abnormal operating conditions and takes appropriate actions.
Performs simple sniff tests to detect gas leaks.
Performs other job-related duties as required.

A top U.S. energy company seeks an experienced cybersecurity professional to join our cybersecurity operations team in a technical leadership role. The candidate will develop and implement solutions that support advanced threat detection and deterrence of cyber adversaries. The focus will be primarily on external cyber threats. The selected candidate will be charged with 1) advancing technical capabilities and projects, 2) guiding other team members in their assigned development and operational tasks, 3) coordinating projects with other company stakeholders.
The Team Lead will leverage his/her experience with threat analysis and cybersecurity engineering, overseeing the work of a small team, and managing projects. The successful applicant will be expected to successfully team with other threat intelligence stakeholders to identify and mitigate risk in both the technology and human domains. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the day-to-day innovation, process, capability development and operations of the team
Develop operational strategies for cyber deterrence, including honeypots, deception campaigns, internal controls, and countermeasures
Develop prototype capabilities for deterrence within an Operational Technology (OT) environment, to include advanced laboratory development for testing
Research, collect, and analyze strategic and operational intelligence on cyber threats to the energy sector and Southern Company
Contribute to the deployment of alerting solutions based on cyber deterrence activities and integrate those alerts with existing Security Operation Center (SOC) processes
Communicate alerts on potential cyber intrusions to other teams and stakeholders
Support the definition, monitoring, and reporting of effectiveness metrics on an ongoing basis
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS in computer science, technology, engineering or cyber security-related field or equivalent experience
Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional security experience, or six (6) years with Master's degree
Prior experience working in a cybersecurity operations environment
Independent thinker with strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills
Understanding of attack signatures, tactics, techniques and procedures associated with advanced cyber threats
Experience with digital forensics tools to determine adversary actions taken during a cyber intrusion event
Understanding of best practices for monitoring network environments for indications of compromise, including command and control
Broad knowledge of IP networking protocols and experience performing network traffic analysis

Do you want to develop novel intelligence on well-resourced cyber threats while protecting US critical infrastructure systems?
A top U.S. energy company seeks an experienced cybersecurity professional to join our cybersecurity operations team in a technical leadership role. The candidate will develop and implement solutions that support advanced threat detection and deterrence of cyber adversaries. The focus will be primarily on external cyber threats. The selected candidate will be charged with 1) advancing technical capabilities and projects, 2) guiding other team members in their assigned development and operational tasks, 3) coordinating projects with other company stakeholders.
The Team Lead will leverage his/her experience with threat analysis and cybersecurity engineering, overseeing the work of a small team, and managing projects. The successful applicant will be expected to successfully team with other threat intelligence stakeholders to identify and mitigate risk in both the technology and human domains. The Team Lead develops and executes a mix of custom and commercial intelligence collection capabilities and works with the cyber threat intelligence team to deliver actionable recommendations to analysts and executive leadership. Such capabilities may include deception, misinformation, internal tripwires, and adversary engagement. The position will report to the Manager of Advanced Threats, Intelligence, and Deterrence.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the day-to-day innovation, process, capability development and operations of the team
Develop operational strategies for cyber deterrence, including honeypots, deception campaigns, internal controls, and countermeasures
Develop prototype capabilities for deterrence within an Operational Technology (OT) environment, to include advanced laboratory development for testing
Research, collect, and analyze strategic and operational intelligence on cyber threats to the energy sector and Southern Company
Contribute to the deployment of alerting solutions based on cyber deterrence activities and integrate those alerts with existing Security Operation Center (SOC) processes
Communicate alerts on potential cyber intrusions to other teams and stakeholders
Support the definition, monitoring, and reporting of effectiveness metrics on an ongoing basis
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS in computer science, technology, engineering or cyber security-related field or equivalent experience
Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional security experience, or six (6) years with Master's degree
Prior experience working in a cybersecurity operations environment
Independent thinker with strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills
Understanding of attack signatures, tactics, techniques and procedures associated with advanced cyber threats
Experience with digital forensics tools to determine adversary actions taken during a cyber intrusion event
Understanding of best practices for monitoring network environments for indications of compromise, including command and control
Broad knowledge of IP networking protocols and experience performing network traffic analysis
Knowledge of Windows operating systems (file system structure, registry keys, scheduled tasks, processes, services, memory management, data storage, etc.)
Experience leading the enterprise deployment of new security tools in an IT environment
Demonstrated ability to achieve timely project execution while adhering to cyber security governance and architecture processes

This posting will serve to fill a Designer/Engineer position within the Substation Physical Design department.
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for the design of Electrical Transmission and Distribution Substations. The Designer/Engineer will produce engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements for substation projects with emphasis on safety, quality, scheduling, and costs. This position will require some travel (approximately 25%) and the ability to work successfully in a remote/virtual environment with access to internet service. Relocation assistance may be provided if the successful candidate does not currently live within a reasonable commute distance.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Make SAFETY our number one priority using a -Safety First- mentality and leading by example.
Prepare high quality design packages needed to construct (new or modify existing) electrical substations using CAD-based tools, adhering to Southern Company design standards.
Design the physical aspects of substations, including but not limited to, Foundation Layouts, Grounding Layouts, Conduit Layouts, Control House Layouts, Section Drawings, Electrical Bus Design, etc.
Specify, order, and provide approval drawings for non-stock materials, as well as inventorying stock materials and shop fabricated materials for substation design packages.
Transmit drawing packages and supporting specifications into SCST Vault using the Physical Substation Transmittal Packages Manual.
Coordinate and communicate with other design disciplines associated with the Substation Physical Design project.
Interact with manufacturers, vendors, and Southern Company committee members to resolve equipment and material issues.
Provide support to Substation Construction, Field Services, Project Management and Substation Maintenance.
Perform site visits for projects, including pre-construction meetings, during construction and post-construction. Some overnight travel will be required.
Participate in substation design review meetings.
Support Southern Company's design criteria and standardization effort.
Support Southern Company's Move to Equity initiative.
Handling multiple tasks simultaneously, setting priorities, and using effective time management and organizational skills to achieve project team goals.
Serve as part of a storm restoration team when requested after storm events, predominately, but not limited to the Southern Company service territory.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education

AutoCAD training, experience, or certification is required.
Experience using 3D modeling software (SDS Inventor) is preferred.
Experience in Transmission &/or Distribution Substation Operations for an electric power utility company is preferred.
Experience in the field of Substation Engineering, Field Services, Switchboard Wiring, Power Delivery, Substation Maintenance, or Substation Construction is preferred.
Experience working with document management & estimating systems such as Transmission Estimating and Management System (TEAMS), STOMP, MAXIMO, SCST Vault is preferred.

JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Supervisor leads a team of employees responsible for all maintenance related activities at the site including safety, compliance, reliability, efficiency and workforce excellence. This individual will provide leadership and guidance in support/communication of Southern Nuclear goals and strategic initiatives. This position ensures that nuclear safety is the overriding priority and instills this priority in the maintenance workers.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will:
- Own the Corrective Action Program.
- Work schedule may include either 12-hour rotating shift or 12-hour rotating shift relief.
- Observe maintenance workers and provide intervention and coaching to reinforce management expectations and positive behaviors.
- Provide employees with regular feedback on performance, including coaching and intervention, to reinforce expectations and develop leadership, teamwork and accountability.
- Ensure activities are performed in accordance with approved written documents, such as approved plant procedures and work order instructions.

JOB EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

JOB SUMMARY
SCS Resource Planning supports the retail operating companies of Southern Company (Alabama Power Company, Georgia Power Company, and Mississippi Power Company) through modeling, analysis, and economic evaluations which inform supply-side and demand-side resource decisions that build the future of energy in a clean, safe, reliable and affordable manner for our customers. Resource Planning supports both the regulatory activities of the retail operating companies and the strategic planning activities of Southern Company. Resource Planning consists of the following four functions: Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), Energy Budget, Forecasting and Model Development, and Reliability and RFPs.
The engineer/analyst role in the IRP group will support development of the Southern Electric System Generation Expansion Plan and for supporting the retail operating companies in 1) the annual development of the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), 2) preparing major portions of the operating company IRP and generation certification regulatory filings and supporting needs related to the IRP and certification regulatory and business processes, 3) determining Intercompany Interchange Contract (IIC) Capacity Recognition as well as other IIC Reserve Sharing support, 4) development of the retail capacity price forecast used by generation, OpCo marketing and customer choice, and 5) various other generation economic analysis and planning work related to Southern Company's generation resources.
This position works closely with various organizations and all levels of the SCS and Retail Operating Company operating and planning organizations, so the successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely with diverse audiences.

This position is responsible for the support and development of the Integration and Extension products within the Enabling Technology COE. Responsibilities of the position include all aspects of application development, production support for standard and custom components, solution delivery of new enhancements and bug fixes, and configuration responsibilities. It also includes developing and maintaining standards that ensure the team can build and support high quality and robust solutions This position must also build and maintain strong relationships with other IT departments as well as with portfolio and business partners, peers, staff, and vendors.
The successful candidate will focus on support and development of integrations between various systems within our footprint. This will include real-time integrations, batch, and other patterns. The candidate will need to deal with topics like guaranteed messaging, message persistence, complex field mapping, transactional behavior, polling, complex data transformations and derivations, complex orchestrations, message aggregation, response caching, and more.
The successful candidate will not only have strong analytical skills but also be able to successfully work within a high-paced diverse team that serves a variety of business value streams across Accounting, Finance and HR.
This position will be based in Atlanta, GA / Birmingham, AL
Job Experience & Education :
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/MIS/Engineering or related degree preferred
3 to 10 years of designing and building software solutions
Strong experience with application development and delivery (preferably with Accounting/Financial and/or HR Technology but not necessarily)
Strong understanding of system and application integration and extension methodologies, patterns, and best practices (preferably with tools like Oracle Integration Cloud, Oracle SOA, Oracle BI Publisher, Biztalk, SSIS, Apigee and other related platforms)
Experience with Oracle databases and PL/SQL preferred but not required
Experience working with API based interactions between complex systems (experience with API Gateways preferred, such as the Google Apigee product)
Experience with application security topics relevant to the Integrations/Extensions space (such as oAuth and file encryption)
Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies utilized by modern Development Teams (Agile, CI/CD, GIT, branching, code quality scans, etc.)

JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for leading a team of employees and consultants that performs many of the support functions for FROW field operations. Key areas include procurement, project controls, business intelligence, technology, and customer communication.
Position will manage the sourcing and renewal of vendor service contracts. Candidate should have knowledge of CAMP and Supply Chain processes. Manages financial transactions like unregulated billing and check requests.
This position will track and communicate financial performance, including monthly spending and workplan progress. Will be directly involved in the development of the Condition Based Maintenance workplan for distribution; supports the transmission workplan from a systems and reporting standpoint.
The business office manager is also responsible for ensuring the organization is enabled by technology, maintaining the systems used by the organization on daily and delivering value-added enhancements to drive operational excellence.
This position will develop and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders including leadership in other business units and contract vendors. Candidate must provide leadership to team, develop employees, and manage employee performance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Educational/Certification Requirements:
