JOB SUMMARY
The Apprentice Rotating Equipment Repairman (i.e. Electric Motor Winder) is a training position to develop the knowledge and skills a Journeyman Rotating Equipment Repairman will need to perform their job safely and competently. This position is located at the Repair Shop facility in Forest Park, GA. However, on occasion, you will be expected to travel to other work locations to repair equipment on-site.
An Apprentice Rotating Equipment Repairman (i.e. Electric Motor Winder) will work alongside a Journeyman Rotating Equipment Repairman at the Repair Shop to develop and complete tasks associated with the Journeyman Development program to repair and recondition motors and generators. Duties include but are not limited to: disassemble, clean and inspect, rewind, balance of rotating assemblies, assemble, and paint. Related activities include the general usage of hand tools along with operating equipment such as mobile and overhead cranes, forklifts, steam cleaner, paint sprayer, pneumatic tools, ovens, end- turn cut-off saw, VPI tank, and balance machines.
Candidates must be able to support a 24/7 work schedule (shift work) including holidays, weekends, and overtime when necessary. Must be willing to work various shifts, generally day or evening shifts. Subject to callout overtime situations.
Work environment may include working in adverse conditions such as poor weather and hot/cold temperatures, at elevated heights, or in compartments with restricted space.
The starting salary will be based upon the conditions of the Memorandum of Agreement Wage Schedule between Georgia Power and IBEW Local Union Number 84.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Required:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
To be considered for an interview, candidates must qualify on both of the following: Construction and Skilled Trades Test (CAST) and the Skills, Knowledge, and Aptitude Test (SKAT) - Electrical.
Preferred:
Two-year technical degree or certificate in Electrical / Electronic Technology and/or related experience in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance.
Electric Motor Winder experience.
Military experience as Electrical or Mechanical Technician.
Experience Requirements:
This is an entry level position with experience in Industrial Electric Motor Winding or Mechanical Maintenance.
Candidate must have strong safety awareness and adherence to safety practices.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good hand and eye coordination.
Ability to read, understand, and follow procedures, rules, and regulations.
Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
Ability to use precision measuring tools.
Ability to be on feet for long periods of time often doing repetitive motions.
Basic understanding of wiring diagrams, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
Basic knowledge of motor theory.

Other Requirements:
This is an IBEW covered position.
Valid driver's license is required.
Candidates must be willing to work outside in all climate conditions and work at heights requiring the use of fall-protection (greater than 4ft.)
Work in tight or congested areas and in abnormal positions.
Must successfully qualify on the Post Offer Employment Test by demonstrating ability to complete certain physical tasks.
TRAINING
Apprentice Rotating Equipment Repairmen (i.e. Electric Motor Winder) will undergo an extensive training program through the Repair Shop Journeyman Development Program, which includes on-the-job training with classroom training. The training program lasts 4 1/2 years. Upon successful completion of the Repair Shop Journeyman Development Program the employee will be promoted to a Journeyman Rotating Equipment Repairman position through automatic progression.

JOB SUMMARY
This job posting is for a Transmission Line Designer/Engineer, Line Contract Engineer, and Line Scoping Engineer/Estimator positions in the Southern Company Transmission Engineering organization, at the Forest Park, GA office location. The successful candidates will be responsible for applying Southern Company's engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications in the design and construction of high-voltage transmission lines (HVTL). The successful candidates, under direct supervision, will follow prescribed procedures to support estimate preparation, develop design options, and prepare construction specifications. The successful Transmission Line Contract Engineer candidates will provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for Southern Company-approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and prepare construction packages for outsourced line design jobs. These positions may be filled at a grade level commensurate with the successful candidate's experience.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Become knowledgeable of the process used at Southern Company in the planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance of high voltage transmission lines (HVTL)
Become knowledgeable of the functions and activities of the various internal departments that are involved in the design, construction, and maintenance of HVTL
Become knowledgeable of the transmission line design practices and work processes
Become proficient in the use of all software applications used in the design of HVTL
Be knowledgeable of the rules governing FERC property accounting
Support the development of design standards and criteria for use on the Southern Company transmission system
Support construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations as well as in emergency restoration of failed equipment
Serve as a damage assessment team member after major storms after receiving the company-provided training. This will require overnight travel within the Southern Company system.
Primary responsibilities for each position are as follows:

Estimate and order material for transmission projects
Transmit construction packages and supporting specifications
Line Contract Engineer
Provide guidance, oversight, and technical assistance/expertise on design/standards/tools to external engineering firms.
Provide Quality Assurance reviews on PLS-CADD line model and job construction package and assist in material ordering.
Participate in regular line design and construction schedule review meetings.
Provide evaluations / feedback on engineering firms performance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
The following education levels are preferred, but not required, for this position:
BS degree or higher in Engineering (Civil, Electrical or Mechanical preferred)
A two-year degree, or higher, from a technical school or university with 2 years of experience with Transmission Line Design
5 years of experience as a designer with no degree
A Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
Experience:
Previous Transmission Line Design experience is preferred
Maintenance, construction, or project management experience in the utility industry
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of overall transmission line design, construction, and maintenance practices, with specific expertise in line design and construction materials preferred
Technical aptitude to solve civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering problems related to HVTL design and construction
Technical ability to read, interpret, and apply design criteria and government regulations to HVTL design and construction. Knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code preferred.
Computer skills to be proficient with standard office software applications and to adapt quickly to HVTL application software. Previous experience with PLS-CADD is a plus
Interpersonal skills sufficient to build working relationships with peers, internal customers, and the general public
Time management skills sufficient to manage multiple projects with various priorities and competing deadlines
Written and verbal communication skills sufficient to satisfactorily complete project documentation and to function effectively in a team environment

Distribution GIS (DistGIS) plays a vital role in Georgia Power's planned strategic direction and daily operations. The DistGIS database serves as the asset repository for facilities data and drives applications such as TCMS (Trouble Call Management System), Designer, and DistView, which are critical to Distribution Operations.
This position is responsible for the input, processing, and maintenance of Lighting and Smart Services data in accordance with GIS work procedures and consistent with Southern Company GIS Data strategy.
Additionally, the successful candidate will also be responsible for conducting spatial analysis utilizing ESRI-based GIS software and for the production of specialized map products.
NOTE: Position requires that candidate qualify on the EEI TECH test.

Job Summary
This position is responsible for working in a line crew on overhead and underground construction and maintenance of distribution systems. This position is also responsible for responding to and correcting problems with the electrical distribution system during normal working hours, after hours, nights and weekends.
Job Responsibilities
Candidate must safely perform any work normally or reasonably required in this classification. This position builds, maintains, inspects, troubleshoots, replaces, and repairs distribution power lines, poles, and related equipment according to Company specifications and manufacturer's recommendations. Successful candidate will review work orders and determine material needed to complete jobs; along with being able to safely load wire coils, poles, equipment, and materials onto trucks. Candidate is responsible for using hand tools to assemble materials, connectors, brackets, and other equipment in preparation for installation on pole-lines or underground systems. This position frequently works aerially from a ladder, lift bucket, and pole-climbing tools to remove/replace/repair equipment. Successful candidate must climb utility poles and other structures. This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining tools/trucks. Successful candidate must maintain regular attendance and comply with all safety procedures, practices and requirements. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate in person, by radio, and by phone to various company personnel in the normal course of duties. The applicant will complete a prescribed Journeyman Development Program.

Major Job Responsibilities
Effectively lead top-down risk-based approach to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). This includes controls rationalization, effective control design & testing assessments. This position will test IT General Controls, automated controls, and business unit manual controls.

This candidate should be thoroughly familiar with piping design including a solid working knowledge of applicable ANSI or ASME codes and standards.
Develop scope definition, provide schedule input, create material takeoffs, and review fabrication drawings.
Coordinate work with other disciplines, clients, suppliers, and contractors.
Interact with manufacturers, vendors, and Southern Company personnel to resolve standards and material issues.

The Design Engineer in the Mechanical Engineering Group shall perform individually, as a member of, or as the leader of a team in preparing and overseeing mechanical power system design including scope documents, schedules, budgets, P&IDs, piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, and equipment or commodity specifications.
Provide design oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and standards, QA requirements, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Provide oversight and technical direction managing other engineers, designers, and drafters.
Effectively communicate with other groups and disciplines to ensure maximum effectiveness.
Coordinate work with other disciplines, clients, suppliers, and contractors.
Interact with manufacturers, vendors, and Southern Company personnel to resolve standards and material issues.
Review and coordinate vendor design document reviews to ensure conformance to design requirements.
Provide support to Discipline Leads, Construction Services, Field Services, Project Management, Startup and Site Personnel and assist with system checkout and startup when necessary.

FUNCTIONAL EXPERTISE
Partner with members of the Workforce Compliance team assisting with the Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations including confirming of Commercial Motor Vehicle driver credentials. Meet the drug testing requirements outlined by DOT-FMCSA and DOT-PHMSA regulations and ensuring the Southern Company Gas pools are tested in accordance with DOT regulations. Track drug and alcohol compliance information to ensure the Company meets federally established minimum testing guidelines annually.
Assist the Manager, Program Compliance in preparing information used in Public Service Commission audits, internal audits, and departmental audits.

Job Summary:
Sr. Rate Analyst is responsible for forecasting, managing and calculating monthly tariff rider requirements and, as applicable, maintain SOX compliance with such that activities. The objective is establish monthly rates within specific tariff requirements and applicable law that enable the recovery of significant annual expenses and manage the monthly over/under collect amount with oversight from the Manager, Rates and the Director, Rates and Tariff Administration. The position is responsible for the preparation of witness testimony, accounting schedules, and data request responses in conjunction with various annual reconciliations. Additionally, the Sr. Rate Analyst may serve as the expert witness in rate, tariff and rider proceedings. In addition, the position is responsible for preparing other regulatory tariff filings requirements. Finally, the position supports, and in some cases leads, the computation of analytical requirements for rate case preparation, cost of service analysis, rate and rider impact analysis, and oversees the department's economic feasibility study for new business authorization.

Functional Expertise:
-Provide oversight on economic feasibility study analyses for the Company's new business authorization.
-Review annual updates of feasibility study factors for main costs, service costs and depreciation schedules, etc.

-Maintain the Company's historical tariff rate filings for internal use. Prepare documents for the Company's electronic retention archive. Respond to internal inquiries for rate comparison analysis and various tariff administration matters.
-Prepare and support the analytical requirements for general rate case proceedings; i.e. cost of service activities, rate impact analysis, and preparation of filing requirements.
-Lead efforts for monthly tariff filings and annual tariff reconciliations of the corresponding monthly filings
-Lead rate case teams updating miscellaneous tariff charges and tariff language.

Project Support Specialist
Description
Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to coordinate key work management tasks related to capital construction projects, including cost-recoverable programs, from initiation to financial close-out. Duties include project setup and maintenance in Southern Company Gas (SCG) Work Management System (WMS), asset allocation and booking in Power Plan, create and validate spot contracts, and invoice processing. This position serves as a liaison between the pipeline contractors and Southern Company Gas for system and work management issues.
Responsibilities :
Coordinate key work management tasks related to capital construction projects to support initiation, execution, and financial close-out
Validate required information to initiate projects in WMS, Gas Request, and PeopleSoft
Create projects and all supporting work requests in SCG WMS system
Associate work requests to appropriate contract in WMS to ensure pipeline contractor is paid based on agreed upon bill rate
Monitor projects from initiation through completion
Identify, analyze, and resolve project financial transaction issues
Manage project workflow in Gas Request to ensure data being sent to PeopleSoft is correct and projects are opened and funded properly
Monitor construction/retirement work in progress (CWIP/RWIP) reports to ensure projects are placed in service in a timely manner and projects adhere to SOX controls
Review and report all outstanding pay items to pipeline contractors and project coordinators so that all payments can be processed, and projects closed efficiently
Use project completion data to create and retire company assets to ensure cost recovery is achieved in a timely manner. Assets must be created/retired within the month they are placed in service
Perform project closing tasks in PeopleSoft, Power Plan and WMS so that all data and reporting is complete and easily accessible by all departments
Develop in depth understanding of PeopleSoft coding and Power Plan system in order to ensure costs are properly allocated and assets booked accordingly
Invoice processing (including investigating aging reports)
Monitor invoice aging reports as well as follow up with project coordinators to approve invoices in PeopleSoft to ensure timely payments to contractors
Identify invoice processing and payment delays through invoice aging reports and collaborate with pipeline contractors, construction personnel, and Con Ops management at each utility to resolve payment delays and ensure compliance with contracted payment terms
Collect and confirm information needed for invoice accruals at the end of the month and submit to Plant Accounting within deadline
Research and package all invoices and corresponding supporting data for any requests from internal audit or for the GA PSC quarterly audits of the Pipeline Replace Program
Set up and maintain all projects in WMS system, which includes the timely creation of spot contracts with correct unit quantities and unit bid prices
Second validate spot contracts to ensure correct quantities and pricing

This position exists in the Telecom Core Services group inside the Telecom Services organization. The position is responsible for system level support and field engineering of Southern Company's telecommunications transport systems and infrastructure. This includes support of the Company's DWDM, and SONET Telecom systems from both a 24x7 operations and project implementation perspective.
