Nuclear Operations Plant Instructor - Plant Hatch, Baxley, GA
Please note: This position will be filled at the grade level that reflects the candidate's work experience.
JOB SUMMARY: The nuclear operations plant instructor teaches and evaluates initial and/or continuing training to operations personnel and others. The instructor performs or consults on all phases of the systematic approach to training. Instructors model and maintain standards in all training environments. Additionally, instructors assist in detecting and correcting performance gaps.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science desired
- Current or previous SRO or RO license or certification at a commercial nuclear operating facility desired
Background/Experience Requirements
- A total of five (5) years of nuclear power plant experience required
- BWR experience preferred
- Knowledge of or participation in licensed operator requalification programs and examinations desired
- Knowledge of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT)
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze jobs, tasks, and training as needed to support new or modified requirements
- Participate in performance gap analysis as needed
- Design objectives and evaluations
- Develop training material
- Implement training solutions
- Evaluate effectiveness of individual training interventions
- Ensuring standards and expectations meet industry excellence and are being reinforced in training and on shift
- Closing Operations gaps to excellence
- Ensuring Operations Training Programs maintain accreditation

Job Requirements
4+ years of commercial/industrial field experience performing preventive maintenance on 500+kW generators and engines
Operational and functional understanding and able to trouble shoot all types of ATS, including bypass isolation and closed transition.
Able to travel 30% overnight.
Willing to work on call and OT as required.
Able to pass a DOT physical, background check and drug screen.
Proficient written and verbal English skills.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and manufacturer's software programs.
OEM Training, certification and/or EGSA certification a plus.

JOB SUMMARY
This position will have a unique opportunity to support two business functions within the Bulk Power Operations (BPO) organization. The successful candidate will perform Compliance Coordinator activities 50% of the time and administrative support for Southern Companies' Open Access Same-Time Information System (OASIS) 50% of the time. This position provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to work and learn across a broad spectrum of transmission compliance and real-time operations functions.
The Compliance Coordinator role is responsible for supporting BPO compliance efforts associated with North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC), SERC Reliability Corporation, Inc., and other reliability-based standards organizations. As the landscape of the regulatory environment continues to the change, it's critical that Southern be on the forefront of this change by engaging with NERC, SERC, NAESB, NATF and other standards organizations. This position will help facilitate that coordination by ensuring that BPO is compliant with all reliability / regulatory requirements and that Southern Company's positions on industry initiatives are consistently and accurately communicated.
The OASIS support role is responsible for providing daily support for administration of Southern Companies' OASIS system. Leads a crew responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining the Company's district and city gate regulator stations in SOPS. Responsible for the inspection and maintenance program of the Company's emergency valves. Performs compliance inspections of regulator stations and emergency valves per federal guidelines. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Extensive knowledge of the natural gas transmission and distribution systems, system pressures, and various regulator station designs to include but not limited to: wide open monitor configuration stations, working monitor configuration stations, full relief configuration stations, farm tap stations, building wall (commercial application) stations, and single & parallel run configuration stations.
Takes ownership of maintaining and protecting the integrity of local emergency districts, double cuts, and passive/working monitors in assigned area.

Responsible for cold weather monitoring and performing emergency bypass operations in assigned area. Must have knowledge and experience to properly understand pressure issues of assigned systems in order to forecast problem areas and be proactive in assessments and solutions.
Troubleshoots customer gas pressure complaints; analyzes and resolves problems or recommends solutions.
Extensive knowledge of pressure ranges and applications for all types of manufacturer pressure control devices approved for AGLR use including regulators, relief valves and control valves. Ability to independently diagnose equipment failure root causes and implement the problem resolutions.
In-depth knowledge of pressure control devices internal components.
Assist leadership team with Forecast for annual O&M and Capital budget requests for assigned area pressure control activities.

WORK LOCATION
This position is flexible to be located in Alabama, Georgia, or Mississippi, with the expectation that you can successfully telework and would be willing to travel to work and/or field location on a routine (to be determined) and as-needed basis.
This position will require a mix of both field and office work.
Field work will primarily consist of travel to Southern Company generation sites within Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi.

POSITION SUMMARY
Support Southern Company Pipelines as the operator of record for various DOT-regulated pipelines to ensure compliance with various state and federal pipeline safety requirements (e.g. 49 CFR Parts 40, 191, 192, 195, and 199). Supervise several pipeline specialists in the operations and maintenance of ten pipelines in four states (as of 3/2022). Provide technical direction to gas system owners at power generation sites and support their O&M and outage work whenever possible. Provide support for SCS's Fuels (Gas Procurement) whenever possible.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree required.
An Engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution or related degree discipline strongly preferred.
Experience:
Experience in operation and maintenance of DOT-regulated pipelines is strongly preferred. Preferred pipeline experience would include natural gas, water/wastewater, fuel oil, or CO2.
Experience in operation and maintenance of pipeline components such as valves, performance water bath heaters, filters, etc.
Proficiency with codes, standards, and industry methodologies.
Experience related with DOT CFR Title 49, Part 192 for natural gas pipelines, Part 195 for hazardous liquid pipelines, AWWA for water pipelines and state requirements, etc...
Experience with cathodic protection requirements for pipelines.
Experience in reviewing equipment repair work scope.
Experience in developing O&M specifications and enforcing contract provisions.
Experience in planning and budgeting.

The purpose of this position is to handle complex customer questions, complaints, and billing inquiries with the highest degree of courtesy and professionalism to resolve customer issues with one call resolution within multi-jurisdictional and multi-functional customer contact teams in support of Southern Company Gas regulated and deregulated utilities. The incumbent works in a high volume, fast paced, and multi-tasking environment, takes ownership of commercial and residential customer requests for service via telephone, online chat, fax and email. The incumbent for this role is responsible for service delivery and offers alternative solutions where appropriate with the objective of retaining customer's business and serves a customer population of more than 4 million customers. Their responsibilities include business transactions in connection with activation of new customer accounts, processing emergency/priority orders, communication to customers using web-based tools, and making financial decisions to protect/collect revenues and adjusts customer accounts. Incumbents are responsible for regulatory and budget compliance and compliance with work policy, practices, and procedures. Incumbents assist in training and coaching new employees.
Functional Expertise:
Address emergency concerns, miscellaneous customer service and general information calls via the phone, email or internet.
Effectively transfer misdirected customer requests to an appropriate department.
Offer solutions and solve problems that are sometimes unstructured and that may require reliance on conceptual thinking.
Prepare field orders (e.g., turn-ons, turn-offs, leaks and no gases, transfers, meter sets and removals); updates and maintains customer account information.
Determine documentation requirements; review and maintain hard copies when necessary.
Provide information related to outside assistance and other options.
Respond to service policy, rate questions, and billing inquiries.
Answer complex credit and billing inquiries, investigate high bills, analyze customer credit status, quote amount due, authorize extensions, and make arrangements for payment of past due bills, final bills, and returned checks.
Coordinate work requests with appropriate departments and service centers; informs customers of actions taken.
Perform accounting functions related to orders, adjustments, and corrections.
Report service disruptions (vendor, process, systems.
Adhere to established policy, procedure and quality standards within service standards or metrics for work performed.
Track related work activity for business process reporting & workload management.
