Job Description

Purpose of Job

The Capital Strategy Analyst develops, implements and monitors capital and liquidity management strategies at the enterprise and line of business levels, utilizing proficient knowledge of the enterprise, financial services industry, regulatory requirements, rating agency requirements, risk management and financial planning. Provides analysis and support in the execution of complex capital, liquidity and financial initiatives and implementation of business solutions that ensure USAA's ongoing financial strength. Prepares capital and liquidity analysis and reporting to governance committees, senior management, regulatory bodies and the USAA Board of Directors. Ensures all activities are completed within compliance and regulatory policies and processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

  • Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.

  • Executes the preparation of capital and liquidity policies and comprehensive capital plans and contingency funding plans.

  • Applies proficient functional knowledge to produce complex work deliverables in support of balance sheet analysis integrating capital, liquidity, cash and investment strategies.

  • Contributes work deliverables and makes recommendations in support the efficient deployment of capital and liquidity across the enterprise, including insurance, investment and banking lines of business, to meet multiple regulatory, rating agency and internal management objectives.

  • Applies proficient functional knowledge and provides analysis that supports the efficient management of cash positions for the enterprise, insurance, investment and banking lines of business.

  • Supports intercompany capital transactions and member distribution strategies.

  • Advises key stakeholders on capital and liquidity management issues according to industry best practices.

  • Conducts analysis and provides recommendations to senior analysts and management for submission to governance committees if a risk tolerance is exceeded.

  • Contributes to Treasury initiatives in Dodd Frank Act Stress Testing (DFAST) and enterprise stress test planning and execution.

  • Evaluates stress scenario results and the establishment of contingency plans.

  • Analyzes stress scenario impacts to the USAA Consolidated/P&C/Bank/Life Capital Plans and Contingency Funding Plans and associated capital and liquidity metrics.

  • Key contributor in the preparation of key capital and liquidity plans, metrics, analysis and reports to governance committees, senior management, regulatory bodies and the USAA Board of Directors.

  • Primary contributor to meet daily cash and liquidity reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 4 years of related experience in Finance, Risk Management, Treasury, Capital and Liquidity Management and/or Accounting.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel.

  • Proven ability to effectively influence and build cross-functional relationships with employees of various levels throughout the organization.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and present executive-level presentations.

  • Ability to effectively work with both internal and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or masters of related business field.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.

  • Financial services industry experience.

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $72,900 - $131,400 * .

*Geographical Differential : Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

We are looking for experienced Sr. Property Field Adjusters in the Dothan, AL area. A company vehicle is provided.

As a Senior Property Insurance Adjuster, you will work within established guidelines and framework to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle moderate to large loss complex property insurance claims presented by or against our members. You will confirm and analyzes coverage, recognize liability exposure and negotiate equitable settlements in compliance with all state regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and handles existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

  • Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.

  • Handle assigned claims' caseload comprised of claims with complex damages including specialty claims. Updates initial reserve levels.

  • Partners with vendors and internal business partners to facilitate complex claims. May also involve external regulatory coordination to ensure appropriate documentation and compliance.

  • Investigates claim damages by conducting research from various sources, including the insured, third parties, and external resources.

  • Proactively identifies and engages in additional confirmation of potential discrepancies involving complicated situations.

  • Identifies coverage concerns, reviews prior loss history, determines and creates Special Investigation Unit (SIU) referrals, when appropriate.

  • Figures out coverage through analyzing information involving complex policy terms and contingencies.

  • Communicates with insured about coverage or any issues that involve additional information or considerations regarding settlement amount.

  • Resolves and negotiates complex claims settlement and makes recommendations to management for settlement amounts outside of authority limits.

  • Maintains accurate and current claim file documentation throughout the claims process for complex claims.

  • Proficient knowledge of estimating technology platforms to prepare claims estimates in order to manage complex property insurance claims.

  • Serves as a resource for less experienced staff, providing informal coaching as appropriate.

  • Recognizes and solves obstacles that occurs in the claims process without supervisory approval.

  • May require limited travel to resolve claims and conduct in-person inspections.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 2 years' relevant property claims adjusting experience of moderate complexity that includes writing estimates involving dwelling and structural damages

  • Successfully acquire Property & Casualty (P&C) adjuster license and state registrations within 90 days of hire

  • Proficient knowledge of Xactimate or similar estimating platform

  • Advanced knowledge estimating losses of moderate complexity

  • Proficient knowledge of property claims contracts and interpretation of case law

  • Proven negotiation, investigation, communication and conflict resolution skills

  • Ability to travel 50-75% of the year (local & non-local) and/or work catastrophe duty when needed

  • Developing knowledge of residential construction

Preferred Requirements:

  • Prior experience adjusting property claims using virtual technologies

  • Prior property field adjuster experience handling DWG, APS and ALE adjustments

  • Experience handling large loss complex content claims

  • Industry designations such as AINS, CPCU, AIC, SCLA (or actively pursuing)

  • Xactimate Level 1 and/or Level 2 certification

  • Currently hold an active Adjuster License

  • Currently reside within or have the ability to self-relocate to within the area of Dothan, AL.

  • Bachelor's degree

  • US military service or military spouse

Physical Demand Requirements:

  • May require the ability to crouch and stoop to inspect confined spaces, to include attics and go beneath homes into crawl spaces.

  • May need to meet all USAA safe driving requirements including verification of driving record through MVR & possession of valid driver's license.

  • May require the ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds to include lifting a ladder in and out of the trunk of a car.

  • May require the ability to climb ladders and traverse roofs, this includes the ability to work at heights while inspecting roofs and attics.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The hiring range for this position is: $60,300.00 to $108,600.00 USD Annual .
