This position will be responsible for managing the personnel of 1st shift at the KC manufacturing facility staff and report to the Operations Manager. In addition to managing the 1st shift personnel, this role will play an active role in the day-to-day operations of the facility through scheduling production, managing vendor relationships, and procurement of products supplies necessary to operate the business. This role will continue to foster and drive continuous improvement in the business and help shape future investments in the equipment and facilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Ceate/maintain superior team safety awareness through OPX and develop corrective actions for safety concerns.

  • Maintain employee training records and other facility specific records such as scrap, hold tags, staffing information, and safety data.

  • Serve as a route card resource for both hardware and software troubleshooting and upkeep.

  • Serve as primary point of contact for vendors, contractors, service providers at Kings Chapel Plant.

  • Coach and develop work teams to have positive and proactive attitudes, personal accountability, and superior manufacturing quality as well as encouraging ownership of operations, products, and processes.

  • Manage production flow at the KC plant through scheduling

  • Through employee involvement, the production supervisor will drive ITW principles as well as 80/20 efforts in the facility

  • Standardize methods, work instructions, and best practices through cross functional teams including production coordinators from other facilities.

  • Maintain hiring and staffing levels to meet business needs, working with Human Resources, outside agencies, and consistently following internal policies.

  • Performance management, including the preparation and administration of performance reviews, individual coaching, and disciplinary management

  • Responsible for communicating scheduling priorities with other leaders to ensure safe and efficient operations based on demand.

  • Build relationships, be visible, communicate, encourage creativity and innovation across shifts

  • Effective communication across all shifts and levels of the organization.

  • Holds self and teammates accountable for living the ITW Culture and values.

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration or Engineering Technology (or attainment within five (5) years)

  • Prior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Able to articulate and demonstrate how ITW manufacturing principles (80/20, MRD, etc.) apply in a manufacturing environment

  • Understands the importance of safety compliance and Quality Standards

  • Utilize the ITW Toolbox (80/20, PLS, MRD, USa) to foster continuous improvement of people, processes, and products

  • Proven problem-solving skills to include analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Be customer-focused with management, support staff, customers, and suppliers; understand how the business functions link together to support the customer (engineering, materials, and sales)

  • Exhibit encouragement of diverse ideas, focus on coaching/developing strengths of team members and facilitate effective communication between shifts

  • Skilled at performance management; providing formal and informal feedback to employees

  • Possess the track record of a proven leader and team player, demonstrates a positive attitude, takes personal accountability, coaches, listens, is approachable, and resolves issues/conflicts promptly

  • Must be self-driven and be able to motivate others, able to identify needs and show the ability to make things happen with little supervision

  • Strong computer (Microsoft Office), oral and written communication skills, prior experience with Route Card system is a plus

  1. Unload Deliveries, record in logbook, and distribute to correct receiving locations.

  2. Reliably Receive, stock, and stage materials in the correct locations.

  3. Assist in Maintaining effective inventory levels (KanBan or other system).

  4. Print accurate picking tickets and Prioritize shipments according to shipping date, shipping method and customer ranking. Note lot numbers on slips per instruction.

  5. Accurately pack all materials including related SDS sheets as necessary. Pack products per regulations and customer shipping requirements including bar code labels, material certifications, custom labeling, etc.

  6. Verify accuracy of product numbers, quantities and shipping locations per the packing slip.

  7. Complete all shipping related paperwork accurately and efficiently.

  8. Process non-conforming products in a timely manner and dispose of per procedures.

  9. Close material transfers per procedures.

  10. Track material shipments as requested by customers or customer service.

  11. Restock materials and supplies following each day's activity. Review shipping supply list and reorder materials as necessary.

  12. Perform regular housekeeping including organizing and cleaning of warehouse locations, receiving area, packing/shipping area and supply storage area.

  13. Perform proper disposal of hazardous materials.

  14. Cross train in department for all duties and proper operating procedures.

  15. Maintain any department equipment regularly.

  16. Become certified to ship HAZMAT products for both Ground and Air shipments (DOT and IATA).

  17. Become certified on ITW forklifts

  18. Other duties as assigned.

H.S. Diploma or GED with at least one year of warehouse experience including picking, packing and shipping. Some inventory control system experience.

Basic PC skills including use of Word and Excel, MS Outlook.

Forklift certified - or within 90 days of hire. Will provide training.

Hazmat certification for shipping materials - or attend training and receive certificate within 90 days of hire.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in related technical field

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience with common industrial networks/protocols.

  • Receive parts from warehouse, including verifying with packing slips, matching parts invoices with purchase orders and packing slips.

  • Process Return Apparatus Tags (RAT) involving warranty claims and verify Warranty and Maintenance automatic scale/wrapper credits.

  • Assist with replenishment of truck inventories and handle parts transfers to other Hobart Branches.

  • Handle over-the-counter parts sales to walk-in customers and stocking and pulling parts and assist with various job functions involved in tracking consignment.

  • Assist in preparing reports on order status, parts & material shortages.

  • Keep abreast of new products and related parts required for various modifications and keep bulletins updated.

  • Process parts mail orders from customers. Handle telephone orders from customers for parts, including writing up orders and quoting prices,

  • Follow up with customers and service personnel for availability of parts, upon request.

  • Write up credits for returned merchandise and handle telephone requests from technicians for parts.

  • Follow up on all pending credits, Cycle counts/inventories

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

Primary Objective:

The User Experience (UX) Intern will support design and development of the next generation software used to set up and control MTS test and simulation products. The UX Intern will be part of the team employing usability methods such as heuristic evaluation, needs finding, usability testing and rapid prototyping to design and evaluate next generation and new products.

Major Areas of Accountability:

The UX Intern will lead a pilot program to develop metrics for assessing usability of MTS's platform application software. As a basis of this pilot program, the Intern will investigate which types of usability metrics and heuristics would be most feasible to employ for assessing user interface design for this specific product family. Then build a plan that includes a roadmap, timeline, and steps to be completed to generate metrics based on the findings of this investigation. Critical elements of this plan include:

  • A review of industry best practices in usability metrics

  • Recommendations of which metrics best fit the MTS platform software application product line

  • Recommendations of how those metrics should be measured

  • Building consensus among stakeholders around an optimal set of metrics and how those metrics will be measured

Working with MTS UX experts and software development staff, the UX Intern will develop an analytical foundation to guide the design of the MTS software user experience for years to come. The UX Intern will be responsible for producing user flows, use cases, software screen designs, reports, bug descriptions and work instructions for screen designs. In addition, they will be involved in, and sometimes lead, user interviews, brain-storming sessions, heuristic walkthroughs and usability tests, responsible for developing reports from those activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuit or attainment of a BA or MA/MS in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, User Experience, Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience conducting user interviews, needs finding and user requirements gathering

  • Familiarity with heuristic evaluation techniques and usability testing

  • Familiarity with experimental research of software products

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Rapid Prototyping experience is a plus

Position Summary :

The Application Engineer , as part of our division's commercial excellence team, and primarily located at our Watertown, WI manufacturing plant, will be responsible for supporting sales team by means of communicating technical information with the customer and internal stakeholders.   • Be the -go-to- for the sales team as a first point of contact for technical training, guidance and customer engineering activity (project definition).
