What We're Looking For

This position can be located at many HNTB office locations including, but not limited to, Washington, DC; New York, NY; Oakland, CA; San Diego, CA; and Los Angeles, CA.

Responsible for technical input within one or more specific practice areas in Advisory. This position acts as a consultant in their area of expertise by providing strategic analysis to key clients to ensure successful project and program delivery and client satisfaction. This position supports senior Advisory team members to develop and promote subject matter expertise and best practices in targeted practice areas (strategic, financial, commercial, technical advising), with a specific focus on complex programs and innovative delivery.

Primary Focus May Include:

• Strategic Advising - Provide as needed management consulting to top client leadership. Tasks can range from providing advice or approaches on specific issues, creating structure and workplans around program obstacles, and developing strategies for improving team or program performance.

• Key Issue Resolution - Evaluate, define, and structure solutions to key program risks / issues by interfacing with clients, program staff and other consultants. Involvement can range from distilling technical information and key considerations, to strategizing with clients on multi-disciplinary problem solving, to driving a cross-collaborative working group to develop a solution or deliverable.

• Procurement documents and third party agreement review - Review, revise and, if applicable, draft sections of procurement documents and third party agreements related to projects on which Advisory is engaged (will focus on P3s and other innovative delivery methods, including collaborative contracting - progressive P3 and DB, CMGC, CMAR etc.).

• Federal Policy and Communications Support - Support ongoing federal policy, communications and government relations work as requested by clients in collaboration with HNTB experts and other consultants. Tasks may include developing strategy documents, workplans, tracking progress and managing deliverables, chairing working sessions to align on strategies or messaging, or developing key internal or public facing presentations or documents.

• Administrative - Support HNTB team efforts on project management tasks (develop scopes of work, budgets and schedules) and other support functions related to Advisory assignments, as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• Majority of work experience in a directly relevant role, including specialized knowledge and strong experience applicable to the relevant practice groups within Advisory (Executive Owners Representative, Innovative Delivery, Program Management or Strategy & Transformation)

• Broad knowledge of the infrastructure industry, key players, policies, existing programs, and precedent transactions

• Strong professional connections across the infrastructure industry, well known and respected by industry peers, active in industry organizations

• Excellent communications, writing, quantitative skills

• Professional demeanor, able to independently interface with senior client leaders

• Strategic thinker, able to see the broader picture beyond their assigned role and identify and advance opportunities to enhance service offerings

• Analyzes hydrology and defines runoff, evaluates existing drainage systems, determine points of collection and conveyance routing.

• Creates drainage models, designs inlets, pipes, culverts, ditches, ponds, swales, bridge drainage and river modeling for bridge hydraulic and scour studies.

• Manages task level of effort to deliver quality design products on time, on budget, to the clients' satisfaction, and in compliance with the contract.

• Work with other disciplines to ensure designs are complimentary.

• Mentor and develop engineering skills of junior engineering staff.

• Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.

What We're Looking For

Responsible for the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects. This position consults with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery. Primary Focus Will Include:

• The job responsibilities will primarily focus on structural engineering for rail and building structures. The specific duties will include structural engineering conceptual design through production of construction documents and construction phase services. Breath of duties will include structural concept design development, structural analysis, production of structural design documents, working in multi-disciplined design teams, building site observations, construction administration activities and mentoring junior engineers.

• HNTB's primary project markets are in transportation architecture. Current projects include multi-modal transportation facilities.

This position performs routine cost analysis assignments requiring knowledge of basic cost analysis principles. Prepares and maintains client budgets for projects/programs. • Coordinate with project team to comply with the client's project objectives - managed effectively, are completed on budget and on schedule, are closed out in a timely fashion and comply with all applicable client requirements;

• Coordinate and interface with client for all reporting needs;

• Assist in change management process;

• Assist with M/WBE/SDVOB oversight and tracking;
