Job Summary

Dominion Energy is seeking to fill multiple positions which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. All positions are located in Glen Allen, VA. Positions are available within two of our core engineering teams. Candidates are to indicate their preference/s and will be considered for the team which they choose (please select all which candidate would like to be considered for).

Dominion Energy's Power Delivery Group is seeking a motivated and experienced Engineer to be part of the Electric Transmission Planning Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working within the PJM Regional Transmission Expansion Planning Process (RTEPP) to assess and develop the long-term transmission expansion plans (LTRTP) to ensure system reliability, to meet future customer demand, to integrate the renewable energy resources needed to achieve Dominion Energy's net zero carbon emissions goal by 2050, and to plan the grid of the future. Primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Perform power flow analysis in accordance with NERC Reliability Standards, PJM Planning Criteria, and Dominion Energy Electric Transmission Planning Criteria.

  • Develop and maintain power flow and short circuit planning models, including the development of Model on Demand project files, contingency file updates, facility rating updates, short circuit change files, and facility impedance updates

  • Work collaboratively with PJM Planning, the Electric Transmission Planning Team, and the Electric Transmission Operations Engineering Teams to perform annual PJM RTEP assessments, generation interconnection and retirement analysis, and develop transmission solutions to address all reliability criteria violations

  • Participate during competitive FERC Order 1000 open windows by developing innovative and cost-effective transmission solutions using PROMOD software

  • Develop and sponsor regional transmission projects. This includes developing the project scope, justifying the need, presenting, and discussing the project with internal and external stakeholders, and obtaining all the necessary project approvals from PJM and The State Corporation Commission

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of computer-based tools for the Electric Transmission Planning Team

  • Generation Interconnection Studies including knowledge around Invertor Based Resources and DER Integration

  • Economic and financial understanding of co optimization of long term grid planning using PLEXOS is preferred

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned

ET Planning Teams

Long Term Planning Team : Perform Stability and Dynamic studies to ensure reliable operation of generation plants within the Dominion zone. Perform Dynamic studies to ensure reliable operation of generation plants within the Dominion zone. Perform sensitivity analysis to evaluate future load growth, future generation retirements, and future integration of renewable energy resources. Collaborate as needed with Strategic Studies team on EMT/EMPT work on generation interconnection, load deliverability analysis, and long term planning (particularly with IBR integration).

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer II : 3+ years of significant directly related experience

Engineer III: 5+ years of significant directly related experience (5+ years of research engineering work experience on directly related projects for the electric utility industry. Work on such projects may be accomplished as part of an Engineering PhD program [completed and graduated by December 2024] on its own or in combination with additional research engineering work experience on directly related projects for the electric utility industry)

*Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications; A master's degree can count as one year experience

  • Knowledge of power system analysis software packages such as PSS\e, PSS MUST, PSS MOD, Power Gem's TARA software, Aspen One-Liner, Transmission Operations Energy Management System (EMS), etc., is preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in power system modeling (i.e. short circuit, power flow, EMS)

  • Experience writing scripts, macros, or code to develop tools to automate work processes is preferred

  • Firm understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including an understanding of three-phase power systems

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of substation components and their functions

  • Working knowledge of the underlying technology used in used in flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) and high voltage direct transmission (HVDC) equipment is preferred

  • Understanding of the protection principles and practices for transmission lines, distribution feeders, and major substation equipment

  • Working knowledge of substation and transmission line one-line diagrams, and relay functional drawings

  • Ability to work proficiently with Microsoft Office applications

  • Self-motivator who can work cooperatively in a team environment, but is comfortable independently seeking knowledge and information

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments

  • Prefer candidates with Python certification

  • Provides expert technical consultation to other engineers and management

  • Strong technical and organizational leadership skills, including the ability to provide guidance to less experienced engineers

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Candidates should have a strong electrical engineering background, preferably in electric power systems such as engineering experience working in the Electric Utility Industry in Transmission System Operations, Substation Engineering, System Protection or Transmission Planning. Other engineering backgrounds may be considered if presented in combination with a strong electric power utility background. Candidate should possess strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices that will enable the successful candidate to progress in an engineering career series. Industry experience STRONGLY preferred.

Education Requirements

Required degree: Bachelor's in engineering

Preferred: Master's of Science in Engineering, Doctor of Science in Engineering

Preferred discipline(s) : Electrical

Upcoming engineering PhD graduates with a projected graduation date of no later than December 31, 2024, who also meet the engineering criteria will be considered.

Job Summary

Serves as the primary contact for all electric distribution, transmission & substation material requests. Provides high level analysis for material requests, open/closed reservations, movement patterns, and purchase order receipts. Monitors materials and procurement issues to ensure business requirements fulfillment. Provides oversight to all warehouse practices and coordinates adjustments as work demand changes. Coordinates across multiple work departments to include all Central Warehouse personnel, transportation, material recycling center, material coordinators, construction coordinators, supply chain group, leadership, local office warehouses and other groups as assigned. Delivers in-depth, analytical support through inventory optimization techniques. Provides high-level analysis and develops reporting tools for an inventory management plan. Determines best practices to minimize costs and ensures inventory accuracy, appropriate stocking levels, and adequate ordering quantities. Ensures accurate scheduling, communication, and execution of all requests with a high level of efficiency. Assesses and prioritizes department and/or project requirements and resource needed. Validates, documents, and communicates high level decisions to key stakeholders, to ensure effective results. Develops communications on SCM initiatives and strategies across DE system to include all Electric Transmission and Distribution sites. Ensures all processes and compliance requirements are met. Leads a team and partners with Supply Chain Management to complete projects and support clients. Coordinates activities among sourcing teams, expeditors, transportation, and warehousing. Evaluates current business processes and establishes better/more efficient steps and drives that change through the warehouse department.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

5-6+ years of directly related experience in material and logistical coordinating

  • SAP experience preferred

  • Familiar with supply chain management processes and inventory techniques/analysis

  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, logistics support, and material management

Dominion Energy Virginia's Electric Transmission departments are seeking motivated, engaged engineers to fill several vacancies within the organization. Electric Transmission is the organization responsible for the long-term planning, engineering, construction, and operations of the high voltage electric grid system operated from 69kV to 500kV. The grid is accountable for transmitting electricity from state of the art solar and wind facilities, integrating those technologies into the energy portfolio, and delivering the power to our many 2.7 million customers including the world's largest cluster of internet data centers. System Protection Engineering has primary responsibilities for the design, modeling, and development of protective relay applications for the grid and substations. Strategic Studies Engineering: Perform stability, sensitivity analysis and power flow studies to ensure reliable operation of generation plants and to evaluate future load growth, future generation retirements, and future integration of renewable energy resources.

System Modeling Engineering: Carry out data mining and data analytics on historical data to validate power system models and load forecasts and comfortable and familiar with creating, maintaining, and using databases and data in the development and maintenance of different models and data files for power flow studies.

Operations Engineering: Perform the modeling of DE's transmission system including network topology, equipment ratings and parameter impedances as well as the maintenance of various operator displays. Coordinate with, and provide technical assistance to, various engineering, operations, and field teams to fully maintain the EMS model. Support the development of tools to improve situational awareness in the operations control room.

Substation and Line Engineering: Responsible for the Creation and maintenance of substation physical electrical, mechanical, and control standard drawings in Cad Drawings. Performing engineering studies in support of substation conceptual scope development, detailed design, and operations. Creation and maintenance of engineering standard drawings and design requirements for the future integration of Autodesk with Inventor 3D and AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE). Creation of policies and practices documentation for standard drawing application, and specification of equipment and components used in substation designs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer I : 0-2+ years of engineering experience (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications; A an advanced degree can count as one year experience)

Required Skills:

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments.

  • Basic understanding of AC/DC fundamentals

- manually digs around various utilities

- performs location of natural gas lines and facilities

- completes pipe maintenance activities

- installs test charts

- sets up common Department of Transportation approved work sites

Job Summary

Dominion Energy's Power Delivery Group is seeking a motivated and experienced Engineer to be part of the Electric Transmission Planning Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working within the PJM Regional Transmission Expansion Planning Process (RTEPP) to assess and develop the long-term transmission expansion plans (LTRTP) to ensure system reliability, to meet future customer demand, to integrate the renewable energy resources needed to achieve Dominion Energy's net zero carbon emissions goal by 2050, and to plan the grid of the future. Primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Perform power flow analysis in accordance with NERC Reliability Standards, PJM Planning Criteria, and Dominion Energy Electric Transmission Planning Criteria.

  • Develop and maintain power flow and short circuit planning models, including the development of Model on Demand project files, contingency file updates, facility rating updates, short circuit change files, and facility impedance updates

  • Work collaboratively with PJM Planning, the Electric Transmission Planning Team, and the Electric Transmission Operations Engineering Teams to perform annual PJM RTEP assessments, generation interconnection and retirement analysis, and develop transmission solutions to address all reliability criteria violations

  • Participate during competitive FERC Order 1000 open windows by developing innovative and cost-effective transmission solutions using PROMOD software

  • Develop and sponsor regional transmission projects. This includes developing the project scope, justifying the need, presenting, and discussing the project with internal and external stakeholders, and obtaining all the necessary project approvals from PJM and The State Corporation Commission

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of computer-based tools for the Electric Transmission Planning Team

  • Generation Interconnection Studies including knowledge around Invertor Based Resources and DER Integration

  • Economic and financial understanding of co optimization of long term grid planning using PLEXOS is preferred

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned

Collaborate as needed with Strategic Studies team on EMT/EMPT work on generation interconnection, load deliverability analysis, and long term planning (particularly with IBR integration).

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer II : 3+ years of significant directly related experience

Engineer III: 5+ years of significant directly related experience (5+ years of research engineering work experience on directly related projects for the electric utility industry. Work on such projects may be accomplished as part of an Engineering PhD program [completed and graduated by December 2024] on its own or in combination with additional research engineering work experience on directly related projects for the electric utility industry)

*Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications; A master's degree can count as one year experience

  • Knowledge of power system analysis software packages such as PSS\e, PSS MUST, PSS MOD, Power Gem's TARA software, Aspen One-Liner, Transmission Operations Energy Management System (EMS), etc., is preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in power system modeling (i.e. short circuit, power flow, EMS)

  • Experience writing scripts, macros, or code to develop tools to automate work processes is preferred

  • Firm understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including an understanding of three-phase power systems

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of substation components and their functions

  • Working knowledge of the underlying technology used in used in flexible alternating current transmission systems (FACTS) and high voltage direct transmission (HVDC) equipment is preferred

Serves as the primary contact for all electric distribution, transmission & substation material requests. System Protection Engineering has primary responsibilities for the design, modeling, and development of protective relay applications for the grid and substations. Area Planning Engineering : Strong analytical, project management, communication and interpersonal skills with knowledge and understanding of the protection principles and practices for transmission lines, distribution feeders, and major substation equipment to run power flow studies and find solutions to reliability concerns.

Strategic Studies Engineering: Perform stability, sensitivity analysis and power flow studies to ensure reliable operation of generation plants and to evaluate future load growth, future generation retirements, and future integration of renewable energy resources.

System Modeling Engineering: Carry out data mining and data analytics on historical data to validate power system models and load forecasts and comfortable and familiar with creating, maintaining, and using databases and data in the development and maintenance of different models and data files for power flow studies.

Operations Engineering: Perform the modeling of DE's transmission system including network topology, equipment ratings and parameter impedances as well as the maintenance of various operator displays. Coordinate with, and provide technical assistance to, various engineering, operations, and field teams to fully maintain the EMS model. Support the development of tools to improve situational awareness in the operations control room.

Substation and Line Engineering: Responsible for the Creation and maintenance of substation physical electrical, mechanical, and control standard drawings in Cad Drawings. Performing engineering studies in support of substation conceptual scope development, detailed design, and operations. Creation and maintenance of engineering standard drawings and design requirements for the future integration of Autodesk with Inventor 3D and AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE). Creation of policies and practices documentation for standard drawing application, and specification of equipment and components used in substation designs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Engineer I : 0-2+ years of engineering experience (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications; A an advanced degree can count as one year experience)

Required Skills:

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments.

  • Basic understanding of AC/DC fundamentals

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.

  • Equally effective with working independently or in a team environment.

  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.

Job Summary

The Construction & Maintenance Department is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operation of the Company's natural gas distribution system.

This position:

- installs natural gas pipe in ditches

- manually digs around various utilities

- pressure tests steel and plastic natural gas lines

- participates in the repair of third-party damage to natural gas lines and various types of gas leaks

- performs location of natural gas lines and facilities

- completes pipe maintenance activities

- installs test charts

- sets up common Department of Transportation approved work sites

Job Summary

The Service Department is responsible for servicing and installing various natural gas appliances (residential and commercial), setting and maintaining residential and light commercial meters, restoring gas service to customers, and responding to after-hours and emergency calls.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy is looking for an individual to identify, plan, and execute a strategic sourcing strategy with a primary focus on the following categories: IT/Telecom software, hardware and cloud services. This individual will focus on the following suppliers within the category defined above: Microsoft, SAP/Ariba/Success Factors, Oracle, Cisco, Palo Alto, VMWare, Carbon Black, Okta and Splunk. This individual will work with Supply Chain Management, IT business unit leadership, finance, and supply chain sourcing specialists, to develop the sourcing strategy for the categories noted above to include: developing an understanding of the IT business and financial drivers; developing understanding of supplier complex pricing models; work with internal and external resources to develop strategies regarding continuous price escalations, external license and usage audits, impacts of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and disruption in supply.

In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for determining long term needs through category/commodity management, spend data analysis, and collaboration with internal stakeholders. This individual will lead cross functional teams to plan, develop, identify/evaluate suppliers, evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate agreements, and execute strategic value contract agreements. This individual will also establish and execute supplier performance management programs for strategic suppliers identified above. Although this role will not have direct reports, the successful candidate will be responsible for directing and collaborating with peers in the sourcing organization. This individual will need to have strong communication skills and the ability to communicate across the Dominion Energy enterprise including individual contributors through senior officer leadership. We are looking for innovative and enthusiastic change agents for this role.

This individual's role will include but is not limited to:

- Setting meaningful category spend targets and deliver results by implementing procurement strategies based on TCO analysis and innovation

Job Summary

The Business Development Manager participates and leads significant components of generation project development activities. Responsibilities include supporting or leading site evaluation and selection, financial evaluation, environmental and local permitting, fuel and water procurement, evaluation of interconnection permissions, obtaining land rights, and leading and managing projects for the development of energy infrastructure. Additional functions include supporting and pursuing growth strategies and opportunities, leading evaluation, analysis and due diligence activities, and participating in negotiations for prospective energy infrastructure acquisition/partnership and development opportunities.

The Business Development Manager is the lead on local permitting activities including working directly with local government staff, developing relationships with local stakeholders, and presenting to projects to local governing bodies. Additionally, the Business Development Manager is a key participant in negotiations of project contracts and agreements, pro forma financial modeling and analysis, preparation of regulatory and governmental filings, executive level communications, preparation of governance materials and public presentations. The role involves leading internal teams from multiple disciplines and departments including construction, operations, external affairs, corporate communications, legal, tax, accounting, environmental, risk management, fuels, treasury, public policy, investor relations and financial analysis.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required (financial analysis, project management, account management, contract negotiations, project development, or other similar roles).

  • Knowledge of electric and/or gas project development and production business and energy markets generally acquired through related work experience.

  • Strong financial analysis skills, including ability to review and make investment recommendations based on pro forma financial statement inputs and results.

  • Experience in commercial contract negotiations, acquisition and divestiture activities, and development of large energy infrastructure projects is preferred.

  • Strong leadership and communication abilities (oral/written/presentation/interpersonal) to drive results in a team environment under minimal direction with internal and external customers.

Job Summary

This role performs maintenance, installation and corrective activities on system protection devices, control circuits, metering, and communication equipment (both data and PLC) within Dominion's Transmission, Distribution and Generating network. All maintenance, installation and corrective activities performed under direct supervision from Tech/Senior/Lead technician.

  • This position ensures that appropriate compliance maintenance activities, applications, policies, and associated documentation are managed and maintained in support of ETFO's Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and Protective Relay and Control (PRC) programs

  • Maintenance activities include instruction/guidance in routine cleaning, calibration and functional operational testing of all primary electro-mechanical and microprocessor protection applications

  • Assists during routine testing and functional verification of all communications equipment including data, fiber optic, and power line carrier

  • Assists during functional operational testing of substation auxiliary equipment and verification of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) data systems that provide the operating centers with real time operating and alarm information

  • Assists with protective relay and control equipment repairs

  • Installation activities include assisting Lead/Senior technicians' functional verification of all primary and secondary equipment as designed by Dominion and its manufacturers

  • Corrective activities include assisting Lead/Senior technicians in analyzing alarms, identifying potential problems, and developing safe and effective basic corrective action investigation plans

  • Activities regarding potential cyber issues related to protection and control devices require that security assessments be performed to verify the integrity of cyber security control at substation locations

  • Successful candidate must be able to report to the assigned office within 1 hour

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Business Process Analyst

This Business Process Analyst is responsible for analyzing and making recommendations for changes to internal processes and/or standards/specifications in order to create more efficient and economical operations for Dominion Energy and Dominion Delivery business areas.
