Facilitate management of project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
Attend various meetings, record, and distribute meeting minutes
Communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure project completion by the defined milestones and established quality guidelines
Aid with preparing construction cost budgets and estimates
Compile contract plans, specifications, and estimates of engineering documents for advertisement and bidding activities
Read and interpret construction documents such as drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, testing and inspection reports, maps, aerial photography, topographical surveys
Assist in clarifying and interpreting the intent and scope of the Construction Documents
Maintain a tracking system for project construction records (Submittals, RFI's, ESI's / ASI's, PCO's)
Review and take appropriate action with Contractor's submittals and RFI's
Coordinate with design team to respond to Contractor's submittals and RFI's
Assist in responding to Contractor's inquiries and questions and provide supplemental information as appropriate
Aid in the review of the Contractor's requests for change orders
Support review of Contractor's guarantees and warranties
Assemble and distribute the official punchlist(s)
Assist in reviewing Contractor's record drawings, O&M instructions, and all other close-out documentation

Position summary: Manages various environmental investigation, permitting, ecological restoration, and impact analyses projects, applying knowledge of environmental practices and regulations. Manages, directs, and oversees work of Environmental Scientists.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Conducts and oversees research of designated environmental resources including wetlands, forests, streams, soils, plants, and wildlife, specifically mussels and other aquatic organisms.
Collects and oversees data and field sample collection during field investigations
Oversees, analyzes, and manages data received from field investigations; determines the location, size, condition, and impacts to designated environmental resources
Documents methodologies and findings of research and field investigations
Leads geomorphic surveys and design efforts of ecological restoration projects (for those working in ecological restoration roles)
Leads, prepares, and manages natural environmental technical reports, field delineation reports, impact assessments, environmental inspection reports, and similar reports
Leads and manages various state, federal, and local regulatory permit application processes, such as Section 404/401, Endangered Species Act Section 7 & 10 Consultation, etc.
Oversees Environmental Scientists' work in field investigations and assessments, NEPA documentation preparation, and permit application preparation
Prepares project schedules and milestones in accordance with client requirements and meets deadlines for schedule
Monitors schedules, budgets, and manpower requirements
Hires, trains, develops, mentors, and conducts performance reviews for staff
Leads preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to RFP's, including teaming arrangements and attending and presenting at project/contract interviews
Participates in preparation of public involvement materials and attends public meetings
Participates in and assists Section Heads with strategic planning and Business Development efforts, including leading initiatives

Assumes supervisory responsibility and performs as staff advisor and consultant for surveying functions and personnel management
Coordinates findings with work of engineering, right-of-way, and/or utility coordination personnel, clients, and others concerned with a project
Will determine scope of work, job objectives, and man-hour budgets on projects assigned to the surveying group in concurrence with other project managers and supervisors
Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside the organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters
Researches previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys
Makes decisions independently on surveying problems and methods and represents the organization in conferences and meetings to resolve important questions, and to plan and coordinate work
Plans and develops surveying projects concerned with unique or controversial problems which have an important effect on firm's major projects
Analyze survey objectives and specifications to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation
Schedules, assigns and directs projects concerning surveying within the firm
Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys
Train assistants and helpers and direct their work in such activities as performing surveys or drafting maps
Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures

Required Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word
Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely
Required Experience
Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) preferred, Field of Study: Land Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar degree type.
3-5 plus years of experience in Land Surveying and/or Professional Licensure
Professional License as Land Surveyor in Tennessee and other states that would be helpful include: Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina or Georgia; NCEES Certification preferred.
Experience using Trimble Instruments, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Carlson, Microsoft Office suite
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 80% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
Amount of Travel Required: 20% approximately
