JMT's Hunt Valley, MD office is seeking Design Engineer with 2-5 years of experience to be part of a design team in the creation and checking of structural analysis and design calculations, inspection, preparation of construction plan sets, and estimating costs for bridges and miscellaneous highway structures. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Perform engineering tasks in the structural engineering field through application of AASHTO LRFD specifications, and design-oriented computer programs.
Assist in the preparation of bridge project documentation including plan sets, specifications, and engineering estimates including the collection, assembling, and organizing of project data.
Participate in plan and shop drawing reviews.
Drafting using MicroStation.
Assist in the field performing bridge and structure inspections.
Write and review bridge inspection reports.
Ability to interact and collaborate with various different engineering disciplines and other consultants.
Attend project meetings and take meeting minutes.
Responsibilities will require working compensated overtime when necessary.

Position Summary We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, and quality-oriented Fire Protection Engineer with a minimum of 10+ years of experience who is interested in taking a leadership role within our Fire Protection engineering group. The successful candidate will be comfortable consulting to internal and external clients, including Federal/DOD, commercial air carrier airports, and transit systems. The Fire Protection Engineer will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with a high-level ability to manage multiple projects at one time. As this is a growth area within our organization, the leadership within JMT is committed to assisting with both business development and expansion of the group as well as providing the team leader with the support necessary to enhance their marketing tools, skills, and capabilities.
Prime technical skills will include, but not limited to: building and fire code analysis with specific expertise in the federal Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC); fire resistant construction assessment and analysis; smoke control analysis; general fire protection, life safety concepts and research, automatic suppression system design; fire detection, alarm and communication system design. Managing day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations

Prepare proposals as required

Possess project management skills for managing internal projects as well as external client needs
Effectively communicate, both written and verbal, including oral presentations
Experience with current version of AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam software
U.S. Citizen with active security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in fire protection engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
Consulting experience with fire protection for DOD/Federal agencies with experience in Aviation and Transit a plus.
Professional Engineering (PE) license in fire protection engineering
Minimum of ten years of experience in the fire protection profession; Equivalent combination of experience and education considered

JMT is seeking a Summer Intern to join the Interior Design team in Hunt Valley, MD. The intern will be asked to work closely with interior design staff to carry out an array of assigned tasks. Position Summary:
The Bridge Design Engineer/ Bridge Safety Inspector will design bridge and transportation structures of varying complexity in accordance with AASHTO and VDOT Specifications. The Bridge Design Engineer/ Bridge Safety Inspector will receive general supervision from the Project Manager and will work closely with Professional Engineers. Bridge design tasks and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Structural analysis and design calculations for bridges (steel plate girders, prestressed concrete beams, foundations, etc.), retaining walls, bridge repairs, and ancillary structures (traffic signals, overhead sign structures, etc.).
Preparing structural plan details in accordance with VDOT and industry standards, while also considering requirements from other disciplines (survey, roadway, drainage, etc.)
Preliminary design reports, which summarize and compare different structural alternatives depending on the project.
Quantity and cost estimate development.
Construction submittal reviews, including RFI's and shop drawings.
The Bridge Design Engineer/ Bridge Safety Inspector will also be responsible for conducting NBIS inspections of in-service transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and ancillary structures. The Bridge Design Engineer/ Bridge Safety Inspector will receive general supervision from the Project Manager and will work closely with a NBIS certified inspection team leader. Bridge safety inspection tasks and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Reviewing existing information, including as-built plans and previous inspection reports.
Assisting with bridge inspections, using lane closures and access equipment as appropriate.
Recording and quantifying structural deficiencies.
Developing structural repair and maintenance recommendations.
Preparing bridge inspection reports.

Oversee and manage assigned staff working on project
Manage all technical resources on the project team
Development of extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
Coordinate and assist Section Heads, Office Managers, and Practice Leaders with marketing proposals

Required Skills
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
NC Professional Engineer License
10+ years' experience in Water/Wastewater project design and management
Preferred Experience
CAPM or PMP
Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
Project management and business development experience
Experience with multiple project delivery methods i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3
Experience managing multidiscipline project teams
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
