Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Monitors schedules, budgets, accounts receivable and manpower requirements and prepares invoices.

  • Develop Project Management plans for assigned projects

  • Establish project pricing and budgets

  • Develop and coordinate project scope

  • Manage subconsultants

The position will entail technical work focusing on historic structures documentation and evaluation, with an emphasis on telecommunications projects, Section 106 compliance, and architectural survey work. JMT's Pittsburgh Construction Management Team is seeking a CDS operators to staff existing PennDOT assignments and upcoming Pa Turnpike assignments on the Mon/Fayette Expansion Project. Sponsorship is not available for this position. As a condition of employment, hire will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Proof of vaccination will need to be submitted as part of the interview/hiring process.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare contractor's payment requests

  • Manage and maintain all project documentation such as PSA reviews, SOS, DBE work, etc.

  • Assist in preparing work authorizations and work orders

  • Proficient in math and have the ability to check calculation completed by field inspectors

  • Ability to perform daily work activities in an efficient and organized manner

  • Coordinate with field staff to ensure construction operations are being properly documented

  • Assist with project closeout, prepare final invoice and preparation of project final documents

  • Organize and maintain project documents

  • Interact with client representatives, auditing firms, contractor representatives, sub-consultants, and other field staff

Required SkillsRequired Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)

  • 4+ years of Construction Documentation (CDS) Experience working on PennDOT or PA Turnpike projects

  • Client requested certifications

  • Strong Computer proficiency

  • Active driver's license

  • Ability to work with individuals representing multiple consulting firms

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with using PennDOT's ECMS system and PPCC site

  • Experience with PaTurnpike's CDSme and Kahua system

  • Supervisory experience in construction inspection situations

  • Field experience with documenting inspection of activities

Working Conditions

Assignments typically require working out of a project field office. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

Candidate needs to be able to work in a fast-paced environment with defined completion dates and interact with various personality types and inspectors with different experience levels.

JMT is seeking an Inspector to perform construction inspection of civil projects and building mechanical, electrical and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to be assigned from the Pittsburgh, PA Office. Sponsorship is not available for this position. As a condition of employment, hire will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Inspecting all building systems, relating to heating, ventilation and air conditioning, electrical and plumbing systems

  • Review and interpret plans, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance with mechanical drawings and compliance with applicable mechanical/building codes

  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and safety standards

  • Communicate and provide recommendation for field issues/conflicts/changes to owner, architects, engineers, contractors, utilities, and regulatory agencies

  • Consults with architects and engineers, HVAC contractors, builders, and homeowners on code requirements concerning HVAC systems.

  • Coordinate and monitor material testing, air balance testing and systems testing. Monitor Commissioning process including equipment testing, functional performance tests and building integration of inter-related systems. Monitor deficiency logs to assure follow up of re-testing and system performance.

  • Coordinate with existing maintenance staff and operations when utility outages, noise control, traffic control or security is required by the work. Attend pre-outage planning meetings

  • Monitor project close-out procedures including O&M manuals, as-builts, punchlists, and warranty walk-through. Issue punchlists for above ceiling, open wall and Substantial Completion inspections, and revisit to confirm completion of deficiencies

  • Maintain and review comprehensive project records including daily diaries, documentation of construction workforce, equipment, and materials records, inspection reports, project photos, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders and monthly payment estimates.

  • Coordinate with local health, safety, fire and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations

  • Follow OSHA Guidelines to ensure safe working environment (lock-out/tag- out, maintain MSDS sheets etc.)

Required Skills

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of construction inspection experience in electrical construction experience in building systems or water supply, wastewater collection facilities, pump stations and treatment facilities

  • Must possess knowledge and experience in construction testing requirements, as well as knowledge in construction inspection procedures and inspections methodologies,

  • Must possess OSHA 10 hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire,

Preferred Experience

  • A Two- year technical school certification in mechanical systems or engineering or technical associate degree a plus

  • Experience with facility start-up and commissioning and project close-out a plus.

  • Experience with construction of new treatment plants and building construction a plus
