JMT is seeking an Inspector to perform construction inspection of civil projects and building mechanical, electrical and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to be assigned from the Pittsburgh, PA Office. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Inspecting all building systems, relating to heating, ventilation and air conditioning, electrical and plumbing systems

  • Review and interpret plans, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance with mechanical drawings and compliance with applicable mechanical/building codes

  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and safety standards

  • Communicate and provide recommendation for field issues/conflicts/changes to owner, architects, engineers, contractors, utilities, and regulatory agencies

  • Consults with architects and engineers, HVAC contractors, builders, and homeowners on code requirements concerning HVAC systems.

  • Coordinate and monitor material testing, air balance testing and systems testing. Monitor Commissioning process including equipment testing, functional performance tests and building integration of inter-related systems. Monitor deficiency logs to assure follow up of re-testing and system performance.

  • Coordinate with existing maintenance staff and operations when utility outages, noise control, traffic control or security is required by the work. Attend pre-outage planning meetings

  • Monitor project close-out procedures including O&M manuals, as-builts, punchlists, and warranty walk-through. Issue punchlists for above ceiling, open wall and Substantial Completion inspections, and revisit to confirm completion of deficiencies

  • Maintain and review comprehensive project records including daily diaries, documentation of construction workforce, equipment, and materials records, inspection reports, project photos, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders and monthly payment estimates.

  • Coordinate with local health, safety, fire and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations

  • Follow OSHA Guidelines to ensure safe working environment (lock-out/tag- out, maintain MSDS sheets etc.)

Required Skills

  • Must possess OSHA 10 hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire,

  • A Two- year technical school certification in mechanical systems or engineering or technical associate degree a plus

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Lead, prepare, and review standard government form proposals, expressions of interest, technical proposals, award submissions, and presentations.

  • Lead all phases of the pursuit process from kick-off meeting to production and delivery and proposal closeout.

  • Develop pursuit outlines.

  • Participate in pre-proposal meetings, kick-off meetings, debriefings, etc.

  • Provide input on pursuit teaming, content, win strategy, and storyboarding.

  • Provides Marketing essential functions and responsibilities as required.

  • Maintain visually-appealing marketing materials including resumes, boilerplate information, project descriptions, photographs, subconsultant information, etc.

  • Work closely and interact with technical staff, administrative staff, and marketing staff in other offices, as well as outside vendors, subconsultants, and clients.

  • Administrative duties related to marketing such as filing, data input, etc.

  • Research websites, newspapers, magazines and other business publications in search of project opportunities for professional services. When opportunities are found, enter data for these opportunities into marketing database (CRM), tracking leads and associated go/no go decisions, and wins or losses.

  • Interacts with marketing staff in other offices, technical staff, vendors and clients.

  • Gather information, conduct market research about prospects/clients/projects, and participate in the development of various business collateral to support continued strategic growth.

  • Generates reports on marketing efforts.

  • Assist with training of other marketing staff.

  • Involved in external marketing activities such as professional associations/organizations, conferences, exhibitions, etc.

The Water Resources Section Head is responsible for business development, financial success, and managing staff for the Water Resources department in the Virginia Beach Virginia office. The successful candidate will be well-versed across the water resources discipline with demonstrated design and management experience in drainage, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management design, modeling, and permitting with the supporting capabilities to perform a variety of design tasks in the civil engineering and environmental permitting field.

Successful candidates will be expected to effectively oversee and mentor developing staff and perform and manage a variety of water resource related engineering design and permitting projects. Work assignments could include, but are not limited to, drainage design, stormwater management design, erosion and sedimentation control, permitting, watershed studies, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, design/inspection of traditional and innovative green stormwater infrastructure and SWM BMPs in both urban and rural environments, the development of roadway and site grading along with construction staging and sequencing plans.

Assignments will be performed through a working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, and standards and processes. The candidate will be expected to manage multiple design assignments, including oversight and direction of design staff and coordination with clients; prepare scopes of work and personnel hour estimates, developing/maintaining project schedules and budgets; analyzing and documenting critical design elements; coordinating with others to determine requirements and incorporating feedback.

Position Summary

The primary role for this individual is to manage JMT's Raleigh Transportation Structures Section. Candidate will be responsible for the overall vision, business development, managing staff and financial success of a well-established and growing department. This person will be responsible for managing a technical engineering staff, including coordinating staff assignments with the Practice Leader and other offices in timely forecasting of project needs throughout JMT. The selected candidate will work closely with our North Carolina and Virginia Region Structures group while managing, developing, and growing the business in the North Carolina Market. The successful candidate will be expected to assist in development of teaming relationships, qualification descriptions for Letters of Interest, Technical Proposals, responses to Requests for Qualifications and Presentations, and scope of services and fee estimates. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordination with clients, subconsultants, other government and regulatory agencies, and internal JMT staff.
