Job Description

LabCorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Processing - Shipping and Receiving team in Dublin, OH.

The schedule for this position is: Monday-Friday (9pm-5:30am) and rotating Saturdays.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 1 year of medical/clinical laboratory experience is preferred

  • Comfortable handling biological specimens

  • Ability to accurately identify specimens

  • Experience working in a team environment

  • Strong data entry and organizational skills

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Able to pass a standardized color blind test

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Receive all branch shipment and deliver to the correct area

  • Prepare outgoing specimen shipments in a timely manner

  • Accurately log specimen tracking data on a nightly basis

  • Drive to local airport to pick up shipments when needed

  • Unpack and route specimen to their respective staging areas

  • Accurately identify and label specimens

  • Pack and ship specimen to proper testing facilities

  • Process all necessary paperwork to process and submit specimen

  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner

  • Perform audits in order to resolve any outstanding issues

The Robotics Operator will be responsible for performing sample sorting and processing in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.

The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 10:30pm to 7:00am, with rotating weekends

  • Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing

  • Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing

  • Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted

  • Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes

  • Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results

  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas

  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required

  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples

  • Resolve and document any problem specimens Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste

  • Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures

  • Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • No relevant experience is required

  • Previous medical or production experience is preferred

  • Proficient computer and typing skills

  • Must pass standardized color vision test

  • Comfortable handling human biological specimens including blood, urine and tissue samples

  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs, work in protective equipment and sit/stand for long periods of time

  • Strong eye hand coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to problem solve

  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal

  • Ability to work overtime when needed

  • Perform operational duties such as payroll, monthly schedules and performance appraisals

  • Partner with Human Resources regarding employee relations issues and disciplinary actions

  • Hire and train phlebotomists to fill any open positions

  • Communicate effectively to internal and external customers including patients, client office staff, sales team, logistics and senior management

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients and clients

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs grossing duties on human tissue and prepares reagents by following established procedures.

  • Receives Specimens, maintains documentation of workload volume, quality control data and all appropriate records as required by the department, company and various regulatory agencies.

  • Researches, troubleshoots and resolves inquiries or problems within the laboratory and with LabCorp clients. Assist less experienced employees in researching, resolving and documenting problems.

  • Performs reagent QC on routinely used reagents. Runs parallel checks on reagents used on instruments for routine lab work. Troubleshoots reagent failure.

  • Performs specimen QC to ensure specimen is appropriate and properly identified for each bench. Note and resolve all specimens not in compliance.

  • Performs routine maintenance on laboratory equipment in designated area. This includes cleaning equipment, minor troubleshooting, and reporting any irregularities in operation to the supervisor.

  • Maintains appropriate records as required by the department, company, and various other regulatory agencies

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required OR an MLS degree
