Position Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Software Quality Assurance Analyst to join our team in North Carolina. Remote work is available. This senior-level role requires extensive hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and overseeing testing solutions across various technology platforms, including web-based, client-server, service-oriented, and mainframe systems. Practical experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing testing activities to ensure high-quality software and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive testing solutions.

  • Identify, plan, and execute various testing activities (e.g., white-box/black-box, functional) to ensure application functionality.

  • Test diverse development technologies, including web applications, desktop applications (VB, .Net), API/web services, and legacy/mainframe systems.

  • Utilize middleware components such as IBM's messaging queues or interfaces for application validation.

  • Create and maintain test plans, cases, test data, and summary artifacts.

  • Provide work estimates for testing activities and report on quality metrics.

  • Record and monitor issues until resolution.

  • Promote continuous improvement in testing methods and tools.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical, information systems, clinical, or business-related field. Clinical Healthcare IT experience is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a software quality analyst, utilizing software quality tools or hands-on lab systems experience.

  • Familiarity with established processes, SOPs, and testing methods throughout the software lifecycle.

  • Collaboration with IT entities (Business Analysts, Development, Support, Project Management) as required by task or project deliverables.

  • Ability to interpret business or product requirements documentation to perform appropriate test validation.

  • Creation and review of test plans and test summary documentation outlining test approaches and outcomes.

  • Development of test cases and scenarios based on defined requirements documents.

  • Provide testing updates and metrics throughout the test execution process.

  • Serve as a liaison between IT entities and the business community (internal or external customers) to ensure alignment on test executions and processes.

  • Organize and manage assigned tasks, provide project estimations, and perform risk assessments and planning.

  • Offer peer support and production support during normal or off-hour timeframes.

  • Self-manage analysis and quality processes throughout the software lifecycle while continuously driving quality improvements.

  • Ability to analyze complex processes and develop logical conclusions to implement effective solutions.

General Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical, business, or clinical discipline.

  • Understanding of software testing methodologies, tools for artifact creation and management, and various testing types.

  • Ability to work independently without supervision.

  • Laboratory experience working with LIMS systems is a major plus but not required.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with mainframe, web-based, .NET, VB, middleware components, API/services, and other development technologies.

  • Proficiency with software tools such as HP Quality Center/ALM, Microsoft TFS, JIRA/Zephyr, and Confluence.

  • Familiarity with various lifecycle methodologies (Waterfall, Agile) and testing methods (Functional, Integration, System, User Acceptance, Usability).

  • Knowledge of clinical content and file formats, including Health Level 7 (HL7), FHIR, and JSON.

  • Understanding of HIPAA and other regulatory compliance policies is desirable.

The position, Specimen Processing Specialist, will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment located onsite with one of our client offices.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:15am - 4:45pm, and rotating Saturdays

  • Previous medical or patient facing healthcare experience is a plus

  • Comfortable handling biological specimens

  • Ability to accurately identify specimens

  • Experience working in a team environment

  • Strong data entry and organizational skills

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.

  • Ability to pass a standardized color blind test

As a Technologist Trainee for the Toxicology department, you will receive on-the-job training for the pre-analytical through post-analytical set-up and testing of patient samples. This laboratory performs high complexity testing for pain management and medical monitoring assisted programs in urine samples. This test contains 180+ analytes in one assay. Responsibilities will also include the instrumentation / data analysis of separate ancillary LCMS/MS confirmation methods outside of this panel.

Shift : 2nd

Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 3:00pm - 11:30pm ( Some Overtime is required)

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Receive specimens for testing; evaluate specimens and test orders; determine priority of work and batches to maintain acceptable turn-around-time; recognize unacceptable and unusual specimens and handle appropriately.

  • Work with a variety of instrument and software platforms including Hamilton/Nimbus automated extraction instruments, Immunoassay chemistry analyzers, LCMS Instrumentation, and Data Review through a cloud-based software system.

  • Adhere to SOPs while performing extractions and analysis on client samples, quality control samples and proficiency samples.

  • Maintain, calibrate and clean instrumentation; perform scheduled/routine maintenance and critical function checks; recognize significant changes in instrument function; troubleshoot as indicated.

  • Follow quality control rules; monitor controls for error detection and take corrective action; maintain laboratory records, maintenance logs, quality control logs, reagent and standard logs, and worksheets.

  • Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy (Immunoassay and LCMS); recognize and correct errors and unusual results (individual patient as well as paired sets of patients); interpret results to produce a final report; use GDP in all documentation.

  • Deliver accurate high quality patient care while maintaining efficiency.

  • Follow a proactive approach to assay performance and instrument performance to prevent downtime and delay of reporting results to clients and patients.

  • Evaluate, use and/or prepare laboratory reagents, standards and quality controls according to established department standard operating procedures and established timeframes.

  • Participate in the instruction and training of others; demonstrate and/or explain the testing process to others or observe the testing process as performed by others.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

  • Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required

  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus

  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

The schedule for this position will be: 3rd shift, Monday-Friday, 11:30pm-8:00am. Position is eligible for 15% shift differential due to 3rd shift hours.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality

  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.

  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls

  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

  • Technical lead for developing, optimizing, validating, and performing advanced diagnostic laboratory tests (ADLT) using Next-generation Sequencing (NGS) platforms and orthogonal genomic based methodologies (50%).

Job Summary

The technologist performs high complexity testing pursuant to established and approved protocols requiring the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility. Duties include overseeing the maintenance of equipment and records, and the performance of quality activities related to test performance.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Prepares cell suspensions and performs cell counts on all specimens designated for immunophenotyping.

  • Stains aliquots of cell suspensions with designated panels of fluorescent antibodies for immunophenotyping.

  • Operates flow cytometer instruments and acquires the data necessary for all immunophenotyping tests provided by the Flow Cytometry Laboratory.

  • Analyzes data using approved protocols and software.

  • Runs daily standard checks for instrument alignment and reagent QC on the flow cytometers.

  • Reagent Preparation:

  • Maintains stock and reagent solutions.

  • Validates and tests new reagents.

  • Troubleshooting:

  • Able to troubleshoot instruments and solve reagent problems.

  • Quality Control:

  • Evaluates and documents results on all positive and negative controls of each assay.

  • Participates in or ensures the documentation of the daily performance criteria of reagents and equipment.

  • Performs, by instruction or independently, validations for new reagents, procedures or equipment.

  • Reviews quality control reports generated by Technicians.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Record keeping

  • Tracks the movement of patient specimens either electronically or using manual logs.

  • Maintains numeric data on lab test output.

  • Makes sure all reagents and solutions are properly dated and labeled.

  • Answers phone inquiries and take messages.

  • Inventory Control--Ensures a consistent supply of reagents and consumables is always on hand by making recommendations to the supervisor.

  • Generates incident reports when appropriate.

  • Monitors and replies to pertinent emails as needed.

  • Responsible for the knowledge and practice of safety SOP's in the laboratory

  • Complete all required EHS training

  • Wear appropriate PPE as required

  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, LC EHS policies / procedures and the requirements of accrediting organizations
