Engineer - Maintenance - Plant Hatch
Summary of Job Duties:
Maintenance engineers are responsible for implementation of various maintenance programs; problem identification followed by investigation, evaluation and resolution; evaluating and implementing industry operating experience; and providing general engineering and technical support to the maintenance teams as needed.
These engineers provide support through monitoring of plant equipment and resolution of day- to-day problems during work activities. Their responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
Coordinate with equipment vendors for proper product supply or services
Ensure cost benefit analysis balanced against PM effectiveness
Develop vendor specifications for equipment overhauls and monitor quality of onsite services
Develop Equipment repair plans (weld process sheet, temp leak repair, troubleshooting steps, etc)
Act as a project manager
Resolve engineering problems encountered by craft during day-to-day work activities
Coordinate with system and off-site engineering to resolve equipment problems that are the result of design issues
Solve equipment problems through evaluations and modifications
Lead emergent issue resolution
Provide technical oversight for major equipment overhauls
Act as first responders and lead troubleshooting on abnormal operating equipment
Develop Maintenance Related Causal Products
Perform ASME Nuclear Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code reviews (special qualification required)
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or a related technical field is required. (Position job title will be determined by candidate's educational background)
Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering degree and experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A background in engineering with working knowledge of applicable discipline codes, standards and regulatory requirements related to the nuclear power industry.
An ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions, based on experience and appropriate industry practices, in order to make timely decisions which might impact plant safety and reliability.
Ability to perform detail oriented work, sometimes in a fast paced environment
Technical writing ability, computer knowledge and good communication skills required.
Engineering assignments typically include on-call duty engineer.

Please note: This position may require the successful completion of the SNC Initial Engineering Training as a condition of continued employment. The training is approximately 4 weeks long and is a rigorous period that may require studying after work hours.
