This position is within ITW's Zip-Pak division. Zip-Pak is the global leader in resealable solutions for the flexible packaging industry. Our expertise in zipper, application technology, and packaging systems makes Zip-Pak the primary choice of brand owners, OEM's, and converters for innovative resealable solutions. Zip-Pak's lean, modern, and continuous manufacturing environments produce zippers using high-volume plastic extrusion.
The division has +300 employees, 6 global manufacturing sites and presence in North America, South America, Europe and Australia.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The NA Business Unit Controller provides total financial support for the operating and reporting unit, to ensure consistency with corporate policies, procedures and guidelines and provide adequate controls for monitoring of corporate assets. The Controller reports directly to the Zip-Pak World-Wide Division Controller and has responsibility for 3 North America plants plus the Corporate Headquarters/Innovation Center. The North America accounting team will report into this position.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
. This position plans, coordinates and administers the region's accounting functions, including cost accounting, general accounting, inventory accounting, payroll accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, profit planning, earnings estimates, and forecasts.
. The Controller collaborates and provides cross-functional guidance to all departments: manufacturing, production, purchasing, engineering, scheduling, marketing.
. The position is responsible to manage annual physical inventories, along with quarterly reviews of Slow/Obsolete product. As a continuous process, the position is responsible for determining standard costs by identifying and analyzing the variance between projected product costs and actual costs.
. The position is responsible for consolidating accounting data and preparing timely financial reports necessary for management to keep abreast of the KPI's of the region and to identify potential problems or deficient areas. Variance reporting to Plan/Forecasts/Prior Year is expected to aid in the analysis of the various plants and departments.
. This position ensures accurate and timely monthly and mid-month forecast/outlook updates.
. The Controller works with their peers in the preparation of the annual plan used to measure and evaluate the financial status of the region. The plan provides management with projected financial data on operations, profit and loss, expected sales and costs.
. The position assists compiling financials for the long-range plan (LRP) process and helps to communicate the strategy among others at the unit.
. The position is responsible for the review, implementation and documentation of internal controls (specifically the ITW ICQ questionnaire and the Top 13 Controls). The Controller also ensures attaining minimum average audit rating and strives for above average.
. The Controller is responsible to develop and lead a mid-size team of accounting professionals focused on profitable growth and simplifying business processes.
. Regular plant visits will be required.
. The position also assists the Zip-Pak World-Wide Division Controller.
QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS:
Ideal Experience
. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
. 10-15 years of broad accounting experience, with at least seven years should be in a manufacturing environment.
. Five or more years' experience in managing accounting functions.
