Electrical Engineer, Radiation Tolerant Control Systems, Space Applications
At CACI Optical and Photonics Systems, we specialize in the design, development, and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art sensors and systems for optical communications in space. With terminals operating in space since 2021, and follow-on generations launching this year, we are seeking new engineers to help us scale our product portfolio to new form-factors and orbits.
As an Electrical Engineer in our Los Gatos, CA facility you will take ownership of PCBA design from concept through schematic, layout and into production. You will work in a fast-paced environment and closely collaborate with mechanical, mechatronic, optical and software engineers. You will see your designs through to production in our CA and FL manufacturing facilities.
Responsibilities include:
Developing and testing of communication systems incorporating digital, analog, fiber optic and free space optic components, electro-optic modulators, lasers and photo-detectors
Circuit design primarily for mechanisms and control systems (moving stages, steering mirrors, gimbals, etc)
Designing electronic hardware from schematic capture through PCB layout and into production
Collaborating with software/hardware/systems engineers to define hardware requirements
Debugging hardware in the laboratory utilizing basic laboratory tools and advanced tools (Spectrum Analyzer, protocol analyzer, etc.) as needed
Integrating electrical, mechanical, optical and software components to build systems for proof of concept designs
Interface with radiation test facilities to schedule and perform tests.
Document radiation test plans and results
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications/experience:
BSEE or MSEE in Electrical or Computer Engineering
