Title:
Systems Safety Engineer
Systems Safety Engineer will support the PEO Missiles, Short and Intermediate Effectors for Layered Defense (SHIELD) Project Office. Candidates should have relevant experience in the following areas;
This position will address system safety needs throughout the acquisition life cycle. It includes hardware and software system safety concerns. It also includes Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH) design considerations of systems engineering. This position will work closely with project technical leads, functional management, customers, and the Ranges to perform Systems Safety processes, analyses, and reporting including:
Support documentation preparation for System Engineering Plans, Programmatic Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE),Test and Evaluation Plans as well as DOD 5000 Milestone documentation
Define safety requirements
Develop and maintain project Systems Safety Program Plan(s)
Perform safety analyses to identify potential hazards, mitigations, and risk, such as FTA, FMECA, PRA
Generate or provide input into various reports such as Hazards Analysis Reports and/or Safety Analysis Reports
Establish and maintain a Hazard Tracking System throughout system lifecycle
Develop Risk Informed Safety Case that system is adequately safe
Support customer deliverables and reviews
Interface with regulatory and government entities such as NRC, DOE, Range Safety, EPA,
Review non-conformances, deviations and/or waivers for impacts to system safety
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
BS degree in an engineering discipline.
10 years of related experience
Ability to obtain and/or maintain a DoD secret clearance.
