Job Summary
Acts as the company's liaison across the footprint with environmental non-governmental organizations and other key local, state, regional and national stakeholders in support of day-to-day operations, capital projects, and public and regulatory policy engagement.
Oversees corporate environmental outreach in coordination with environmental services and corporate affairs.
Keeps senior utility and holding company management apprised of relational, policy, regulatory, and permitting issues and opportunities.
Serves as liaison and as needed negotiator between company and key stakeholders in permits, regulations, and public policy development.
Serves as company environmental representative on various industry organizations.
Advises on development of process and procedures to support compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
Champions process changes to improve compliance, improve efficiency, and control costs.
Communicates changes in environmental laws and regulations to management of corporations and operating companies.
Advises on development of strategies that comply with new requirements and minimize impacts to company in complying.
Sponsors support programs that enhance company public image and reputation from an environmental point of view.
As needed represents the company to the public and press on environmental issues.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
10+ years relevant experience (Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year of experience)
Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:
Considerable experience in environmental policy development and environmental justice
Experience in a senior role an environmental role in a state agency or cabinet office
Experience at a large environmental non-governmental organization
Private sector experience at a law firm, consulting firm, or corporation on public policy issues
Good working knowledge of energy-related, environmental issues
Good working knowledge of environmental sustainability theory, practice, and policy
Well-developed negotiation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent technical writing, public speaking, and communication skills
Ability to develop effective strategies
Ability to interpret and communicate technical information and convey it to internal and external staff

Education Requirements
Preferred: Bachelor
Demonstrated related experience may be substituted for preferred education.
