General Summary:
Provides company decision logic, design input and technical support for store energy decisions, refrigeration, HVAC and energy management systems (EMS). Supports internal design teams for new store growth initiatives, collaborates within the store design team on energy procurement opportunities and energy reduction initiatives, maintenance reduction and general value engineering initiatives aimed at continuous building improvement. Owns coordination of refrigeration and energy management technical data across architecture and engineering, energy management, facility maintenance, construction teams and national account manufacturers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for energy commodity procurement and rate management
o Manage process of purchasing electricity, natural gas and propane in all deregulated energy markets, which account for roughly 20% of the store chain or ~40MM annually
o Develop portfolio procurement strategy and follow daily energy market related information to identify ideal purchasing opportunities
o Evaluate annual rate review for each location and request rate class changes where appropriate
Project/Program Management
o Manages assigned energy and design related projects to meet company objectives. This includes working with various internal departments to determine needs/requirements, managing vendors performing work, gathering data for project reporting and managing project to assigned capital/expense targets.
o Position will manage vendor schedule and equipment coordination on all new development projects in support of the new store and remodel opening plans. (ex. 1,000+ New, 1,000 Remodels annually)
Cross-functional support (will support A&E, Building Systems, Refrigeration, Construction, Store Facilities)
o Provides technical support for refrigeration, EMS and HVAC as it relates to existing store needs. This will include problem solving for existing equipment, parts and software to strengthen response times and corrective measures to support open stores.
o Research identified issues in buildings and equipment that are causing concern for the organization and propose/implement corrective measures
National Account vendor management
o Position will be involved in the procurement of national account vendors for the DG program. Will act as technical expert on refrigeration, HVAC and energy management systems and work with the internal procurement team, A&E, Construction and Store Facilities on the on boarding and negotiation of new and existing vendors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Proven technical skills and detailed knowledge of refrigeration, HVAC and EMS components including manufacturers, terminology, codes, and functional disciplines. Strong ability to write, read, interpret, understand, and apply industry standards and specifications.
Demonstrated technical understanding to build cross-functional team alignment, commitment, and accountability for delivering results.
Ability to provide strategic thought leadership to organization planning needs and long-term goals.
Strong project management skills to effectively support the delivery pipeline and consistently deliver predictable results.

Work Experience &/or Education:
Bachelor's degree (preferably in Engineering or Business discipline) and 3-5 years of relevant experience. Experience in grocery and / or retail sector is a plus. Previous experience with control systems, HVAC or refrigeration preferred. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software
