What We're Looking For
The Engineer III position assists the Southern California Tolling & Emerging Mobility Solutions team by performing engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, design, delivery, and oversight on assigned ITS/Tolling projects.
Applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity. Leverages technical knowledge and experience to develop technical designs, working closely with the project manager through creative problem solving, interactions with clients and by completing tasks to meet the project schedule. Develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project completion using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. Reviews designs and deliverables prepared by our clients' systems integrators and oversees systems operations. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB's clients.
Essential Responsibilities:
Preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects.
Preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
Reviews deliverables provided by ITS and Tolling system integrators.
Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
3 years relevant experience
Primary Focus Will Include:
Provide ITS and tolling design support to teams developing ITS and tolling plans, specifications and estimates.
Provide ITS and tolling study support including: gathering stakeholder needs and information; drafting system requirements, concepts of operation, and system architectures; and finalizing RFP documents for public release.
Provide ITS and tolling oversight support including: reviewing of technical and deployment deliverables; providing design, development, testing, and deployment support; and overseeing ITS and tolling system operations.
Provide project management support including: schedule review utilizing Microsoft Project; preparing, facilitating, supporting, leading, and/or attending project meetings; supporting project controls and document controls efforts; and preparing meeting agendas, materials, sign-in sheets, and notes.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
4 years of relevant experience
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
Strong technical writing skills
Familiar with MicroStation
Familiar with design standards, manuals and specifications for Caltrans

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
Master's degree in Engineering and 3 year of relevant experience
PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience
