JMT's Allentown Construction Management Team is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors to apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities prior to, during, and after construction for, general safety, quality, conformance to plans, specifications and codes. Asphalt paving experience, Highway Occupancy Permit Inspection, and or bridge rehabilitation experience a plus. The successful candidate will be performing inspection of PennDOT projects in District 5-0. Sponsorship is not available for this position. As a condition of employment, hire will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Proof of vaccination will need to be submitted as part of the interview/hiring process.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations
Performs routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials
Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes
Gathers and maintains record documents utilizing PennDOT EPS and CDS V3
Makes field notes and computations

Minimum 2 years of PennDOT or PTC Construction Inspection Experience
Computer Proficiency
Active driver's license
Client Requested certifications - NICET Highway Construction Level 2 or higher, NECEPT Asphalt Field Technician, PA Concrete Field Technician
Preferred Experience
Minimum 4 years of PennDOT or PTC Construction Inspection Experience
Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
