The Industrial Equipment Division is looking for a highly motivated individual for the position of Mechanical Engineer within the Sustaining Engineering team to focus on continuous improvement of our industrial welding products. This position requires exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with engineering teams, operations, manufacturing, customer service and marketing to efficiently support our products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Primary responsibilities include mechanical product support of our industrial welding and induction power sources, wire feeders, and related accessories.

  • Work with the Operations/Manufacturing, Product Management, Customer Service, suppliers, and end users to improve current products and assure customer satisfaction.

  • Effectively work with other electrical, software, mechanical, welding engineers and other technical team members to support our products.

  • Involvement in mechanical hardware product support activities including resolution of field, manufacturing line, warranty, supplier related issues and new product features.

  • Participate in project meetings and be responsible for assigned action items and project deliverables.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.

  • Ability to analyze and solve mechanical component, thermal, electrical motor application, electronic packaging, assembly, and material issues.

  • Ability to test, analyze and select materials and manufacturing methods for design based on durability and cost effectiveness.

  • Knowledge of design practices for sheet metal, castings, injection/rotational molded/vacuum formed plastic parts, heat sinks, electrical insulation, and electronic packaging.

  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D modeling software.

  • Design for manufacturing assembly (DFMA) knowledge.

  • Design fixtures for manufacturing and assembly knowledge.

  • Self-starter and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Work effectively as an individual or in a team environment.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Preferred:

  • 1-5 years of industry experience.

  • Experience designing and testing to 3rd party (UL/CSA/CE) standards.

  • Experience with sheet metal, castings, injection/rotational molded/vacuum formed plastic parts, electric motor applications, thermal, electrical insulation, and electronic packaging.

  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software experience.

  • SolidWorks and PDM experience.

  • Experience in design methods to address equipment exposure to severe environmental conditions (temperature, moisture, and dust).
