JMT is seeking a motivated Traffic Engineer who desires responsibilities in managing and designing a variety of traffic related projects and services. Based in the Harrisburg / York area, the successful candidate will be a technical leader in traffic engineering and also offered opportunity to engage in business development activities.
The successful candidate will be well-versed across the traffic engineering discipline with demonstrated modeling, design and task management experience in traffic planning, analysis and design. Successful candidates will be expected to effectively perform, coordinate and manage a variety of traffic related engineering projects or task assignments including but not limited to traffic signal plans, signing and pavement marking plans, crash analysis, planning studies, traffic analysis and studies and maintenance and protection of traffic plans. Work may also include roadway lighting and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) plans. Coordination with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies and project stakeholders is also expected.
A working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, and standards and processes is required. The candidate will be expected to manage multiple assignments, develop/coordinate/maintain project schedules; analyze and document critical design elements; coordinate with others to determine requirements and incorporate feedback.

Applicant must have a general understanding of design and plan preparation using Microstation, various applicable traffic engineering software packages, and be proficient in MS Office
Required Experience
Job requires minimum 5 years of experience in traffic engineering design, planning and
BSCE from ABET accredited engineering program.
Pennsylvania Registered Professional Engineer or the ability to acquire such license in the state within six months of employment.
Certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer a plus.
Familiarity with the policies, publications and practices of PennDOT and the PA Turnpike Commission.
Experience with PennDOT and the PA Turnpike Commission preferred.
Experience using one or more traffic analysis and simulation modeling software such SYNCHRO or VISSIM is required.
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
Does require travel across Pennsylvania including Philadelphia, Allentown and Pittsburgh areas.
