JMT is seeking an Intern to join our growing Facilities Engineering practice in the Newark, DE office.

The successful candidate will be asked to work closely with engineering employees to carry out an array of assigned tasks. The tasks will range from data entry, making changes to existing engineering drawings to design of small engineering projects in addition to documentation and field support of Commissioning activities. Other duties include, but are not limited to, assembling data and assisting with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals; utilizing computer programs to solve engineering problems; assisting with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects, specification development or preparation, technical evaluation of equipment and material, and maintaining accurate and current project documentation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Enter data into systems

  • Make edits and updates to existing engineering drawings and projects

  • Coordinate new small-scale projects

  • Assemble data and research

  • Assist with administrative duties

  • Provide input on solutions to problems using basic theories and engineering fundamentals

  • Assist with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects

  • Develop and prepare specifications

  • Evaluate equipment and material

  • Maintain accurate and current project documentation

Required Skills

Required Experience

  • Current Junior or Senior enrolled in an ABET Accredited Mechanical Engineering Program

  • Working knowledge of Auto CADD, REVIT, MicroStation and building energy/load simulation programs along with computing production tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is a plus

  • Previous related working experience a plus which may include work done concurrent to completion of engineering degree program

    Working Conditions

    Work is performed within a general office environment 80% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 30 lbs) may be required as needed.
