Automation, a $40M segment of the Industrial Equipment Division is part of ITW's North America Welding Industrial Platform. This position will manage the accounting function specific to Automation and have shared responsibility for financial reporting. This position will partner with the Divisional Controller in various financial projects including Annual & Long Range Plan and data analysis of key business metrics that drive management decisions and help grow the business in the automaton space. This position is based in Appleton, WI.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This position is a key function within the Accounting Department. The Accounting Manager will work with the Divisional Controller to ensure accuracy of financial records and integrity of data shared with management, supervise top 13 internal controls and compliance to ITW's policies and procedures and applicable laws.
Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing process effectively and efficiently.
Manage and review all journal adjustments including sales, margin and overhead variance analysis.
Prepare accurate management reporting and work with team to understand and communicate the results.
Be analytical, inquisitive, and crisp in explaining the story behind the numbers and have a strong ability to understand macro and micro trends and quickly discern inaccuracies.
Develop monthly and quarterly outlooks.
Be a strong motivational champion of the ITW Toolbox; utilizing 80/20 in all critical thinking toward applying sound judgment to analyze processes, identifying and acting upon opportunities to reduce complexity and simplify processes.
Leverage available tools and new technologies to compile relevant useful information to support process improvements and operational decisions.
Partner with the Divisional Controller in planning, assigning, and directing work in the department including projects in sourcing savings, working capital management and employee involvement.
Present an objective opinion as input for business decisions based on facts, data and analysis.
Keep the leadership team informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective management.
Provide various sales analysis reports as needed to help support the division and provide timely data for other managers to assist with decision-making.
Help other employees understand how their choices and decisions will impact the financials and identify, communicate, and train others on key business drivers.
Build a talent pipeline by motivating and inspiring direct reports to excel.
Perform related work as apparent or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting plus a minimum of five years of general accounting experience. CPA or equivalent designation is preferred.
Proven track record of leadership, collaboration and strong interpersonal verbal/written skills, demonstrating a positive attitude, personal accountability, coaching abilities, effective listening skills, and approachability.
Willing to develop self and others with potential for future opportunities in the organization.
Detail oriented with strong problem solving and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal/written) effectively with customers, suppliers and all employees as well as an ability to develop positive and productive peer relationships.
Experienced in the implementation and application of ITW toolbox tools, including the Front to Back Process; preferred.
Ability to resolve issues/conflicts in timely manner.
Aggressive self-starter with the ability to work independently on projects under minimal supervision.
ERP and Financial Reporting software experience required.
Advanced MS Excel skill.
20% travel expected
