Graphic Designer - Advertising
Description
This position is responsible for creating and delivering all print and design material used in Marketing / Advertising for the Retail Sales and Service department of Alabama Power Company. This individual will work with Retail Support leadership, Corporate Marketing and Digital Advertising / Media groups, and Public Relations to ensure the organization's brand and messages are consistent in representation of Alabama Power Company. The Designer will be expected to produce material that will help grow the overall Retail business through strong graphic designs that increase sales and traffic to Retail stores and online channels of the Retail business.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, maintain and manage all printed marketing materials across the state to ensure consistency and compliance with the brand. Communicate with Public Relations teams along with Corporate Marketing and Advertising teams to ensure brand alignment.
Travel to store locations to ensure in-store signage compliance as well as determining needs. Work closely with the Retail Product and Services Manager on company branding and collateral development / deployment.
Create and design retail advertising and marketing materials that will be used through the multi-channel Retail business including in-store flyers, bill inserts, newspaper and direct mail pieces throughout the state and beyond.
Work directly with buying group to collaborate on monthly and quarterly advertising strategies. Design pieces that will appeal to the customer and communicate the current promotions in the organization. Maintain a library of advertising images, merchandise images and created images that will be used to communicate
the organization's messages.
Ensure the organization is protecting the Alabama Power and Southern Company brands in all messaging and ensure compliance with brand standards and copywrite regulations. Maintain organization's compliance in all channels and locations, including shared projects with other internal organizations.
Work with outside agencies and vendors to procure needed materials and align around the best strategies that allow our design and brand to take hold and produce results.
Travel to design shows, buying conferences and competitors to consistently stay in tune with current strategies in the industry and cutting-edge techniques to help grow the business. Travel up to 20% of the time.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education
Experience
Experience in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations or a directly related field required.
Demonstrated experience in determining advertising tactics and measuring advertising effectiveness of past, current and future campaigns and designs highly desired.
Web design experience and coordination between the two desired and a major plus.
Proven successful teamwork experience in working as part of a large, decentralized team across the state.
Experience in influencing teams, peers and leadership.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to articulate current trends and determine organizational design changes needed to improve the business and properly represent an evolving Retail brand.
Ability to lead projects and teams in determining graphic and digital advertising.
Strong, proven communication skills in both oral and written communications.
Ability to learn new techniques quickly and apply that knowledge on the job, to both grow skills and bring further opportunity to Alabama Power's Retail messaging.
