Technical & Project Solutions (T&PS) - Projects East Dept.
JOB SUMMARY
This position serves to provide oversight and management of major capital projects for the Projects East group, within our Technical & Project Solutions (T&PS) organization. This position is responsible for project safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements. Responsibilities include working closely with various T&PS departments as well as external groups. This role requires the ability to review and if needed, develop work products such as: project scope document, cost estimate, P6 schedules, data analytics, safety plans, and quality plans.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in order to solve issues and keep the project moving forward (i.e. engineering, operations, craft labor, contractors, outside agencies)
Perform oversite/coordination of field related construction activities for large capital and civil/earth moving projects.
Utilize computer business tools to support data analytics related to construction schedule updates, quantity tracking, project earned value and necessary metric reporting
Support the development of quantity take-offs/cost estimates as required
Support the development of contract inquiry packages
The ability to work across various technologies and systems to achieve the client's goals
Candidate must be able to adapt to changing work duties, be able to work with limited supervision, and must be able to perform successfully in an individual and team environment
The successful candidate must be available for call outs, holidays and weekends and may require some extended work hours
Must be able to work in extreme climates and environments (e.g., cold, hot, dusty, humid)
Must be able multi-task and prioritize multiple project assignments to meet tight commitment dates

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Experience (required)
Experience (preferred)
Power generation industry experience
Previous experience working on a project team would be a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven risk assessment skills and sound judgment/decision making
Strong organizational, administrative, time management, project management, facilitation and analytical skills are required
Proficiency in.Microsoft Office Tools (i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint), database proficiency a plus
Self-motivation and demonstrated initiative are crucial for this position
Strong problem solving and decision making abilites
Ability to interface with vendors and contractors while representing the best interests of Southern Company
Ability to lead diverse teams toward a common goal
General knowledge of Primavera/P6 a plus
Ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of Southern Company Generation organizations
