PowerSecure is hiring a Manufacturing Process Engineer at our Durham, NC facility. This position will be located at the Durham, NC and it is not a remote position.
The Manufacturing Process Engineer (MPE) is responsible for assuring that the manufacturing process is robust and ensures conformance with design documents, manufacturing standards, quality standards and are inherently safe. The MPE will be responsible for aligning process to business goals, improving process to provide operational results in the areas of safety, quality, cost and on time delivery. Fine tunes manufacturing processes by researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment. Evaluates manufacturing processes, applies knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and material. The MPE will work closely with Quality, Production and Continuous Improvement to achieve these goals.
Develop operational capabilities and excellence in Manufacturing In-Process Quality Control. Direct the activities of all functions involved in creation of updated quality checklists, leveraging technology to ensure success, and coaching/mentoring production employees.
Process Engineering:
Oversees and assesses existing processes and workflows.
Optimizes productivity by designing, implementing, and testing new procedures.
Assembles reports to document process status and changes.
Tracks metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades.
Communicates findings and proposals to upper management.
Utilizes process simulation software to test and find the most appropriate production strategies.
Provides thorough instructions for successful implementation of process changes.
Conducts risk assessments.
Assesses compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
Contributes to departmental efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Participate in internal quality system audits.
Represent and encourage a continuous improvement culture within the production team.
Drive measurable improvement in DPU (Defects per Unit) identified in Test.
Cost out & Efficiency Improvements:
Drive (measurable) defect per unit(DPU) reductions in repeat-build products.
Drive in process quality improvements to reduce the need for manual checkpoints.
Be a safety champion and ensure all process are built around our -inherently safe- goal.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Masters preferred.
5+ years' experience in roles related to business process engineering or quality.
Demonstrated competency driving measurable improvements in the quality of manufactured products through process engineering /re-engineering.
6-Sigma / Green or Black Belt Certification preferred.
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical assembly drawings, Weld and Coating symbols, work instructions, and written directions.
Experience with manufacturing ERP systems (SAP or IFS preferred)
Ability to read and communicate in English.
Strategic thinker with confidence and speed in execution.
