ProMedica Toledo Hospital is one of the largest acute-care facilities in the region. POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead pharmacist will work with the staff to ensure appropriate training, compliance to regulatory standards (e.g. Joint Commission, CMS, Board of Pharmacy, USP, DEA, OSHA, etc.) and ProMedica standards and policies. Coordinates staff schedules and daily assignments ensuring 24/7 coverage for vacations, holidays and weekends. Coordinates pharmacy operational changes with staff pharmacists and technicians and assists director with quality assurance functions and process improvement. Assists with completion of employee evaluations.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Evaluates and maintains electronic pharmacy systems with addition of new drugs and system updates. Maintains knowledge of other associated medication libraries by working collaboratively with other clinicians and IT personnel. Participates in functional testing before and after system upgrades and improvements. Communicates/coordinates updates/changes with the Pharmacy IT team.
Maintains staff pharmacist competencies. Must be able to perform all staff pharmacist functions and duties. Assists department with operational changes by training and educating the staff. Makes recommendations for work flow changes that increase the effectiveness and efficiency of pharmacy services. Works as staff pharmacist as needed.
Participates in quality projects and assigned committees to provide expertise on using the clinical information system to achieve department and hospital goals. Involved in investigating risk management reports and identifying process improvement opportunities around Medication Safety.
Troubleshoots pharmacy applications. Responds and corrects day to day issues and problems affecting workflow of clinicians interacting with electronic pharmacy applications.
Ensures department compliance to billing functions and regulatory standards. Maintains and monitors systems to ensure accuracy of billed charges to satisfy requirements of internal audit's compliance plan as well as external insurance agencies. Also ensures compliance to regulatory agency standards related to Pharmacy practice.
Contributes to Customer and employee satisfaction. Ensures operational areas are meeting metrics around medication turnaround time for order processing and dispensing medications. Also, has positively engaged Pharmacy staff as measured by Employee Engagement scores.
As an essential job function, due to continuously changing patient census/activity and staffing needs, must have the flexibility to work a varying schedule should the need arise, which may require working a varying shift, overtime (greater than 40 worked hours per week) and/or shift durations that exceed the assigned status for shift length and/or hours per week.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
Skills: Proven communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel. Demonstrated knowledge of electronic pharmacy applications.
Years of Experience: Three years hospital pharmacy experience, 2 years' experience as staff pharmacist with knowledge of computer functions utilized by the pharmacy with a strong desire to learn and maintain the systems.
License: Pharmacist License with the Board of Pharmacy in state of practice or license eligible.

Proven ability to work collaboratively within the department and with outside disciplines.
The interpersonal skills necessary to lead technicians and interns; to instruct patients, the public, and hospital employees; and to consult with physicians.

Monitor daily pharmacy operations and identify, resolve, or escalate any high-risk issues.
