The ED, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Strategy, Innovation and Integration is responsible for leading the development of the enterprise DE&I strategy, championing new DE&I innovations within the company, and leveraging DE&I-driven data/analytics for insights and learnings to advance DE&I for our membership and the communities where we live and work. This executive drives enterprise DE&I strategic and operational priorities and measurement; strengthens how USAA meets the unique needs of members from underserved communities; drives a holistic approach to advancing economic mobility in communities; partners with, influences and has the confidence of senior leadership; and advises across the organization on the effectiveness and efficiency of the DE&I strategy. The ED partners closely with the CoSA DE&I advisors to strengthen the CoSA DE&I working teams and serves as the primary EMG-level partner for Corporate Responsibility, Strategy, Marketing, the Innovation Lab, Corporate Development, Supplier Diversity, Military Affairs, Member Insights and People Analytics. This individual is at the center of DE&I strategy in culture, business practices, and work environment through effective contribution to strategic and operational plans, with a particular focus on members and communities.

Job Requirements

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.

  • Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.

  • Develops, coordinates, and measures implementation of and progress on the enterprise DE&I strategy in partnership with senior leaders across lines of businesses and staff agencies.

  • Builds strong relationships across the lines of business and staff agencies to develop a deep understanding of DE&I strengths and opportunities within USAA's work force, products, services, supply chain and community engagement.

  • Drives impactful enhancements for USAA's DE&I-related data and analytics initiatives in partnership with People Analytics and Member Insights.

  • Ideates, promotes, and strengthens DE&I-driven innovations that enhance products, services, and experiences for USAA members.

  • Partners with key stakeholders across the enterprise to strengthen USAA's approach to enhancing economic mobility in communities, with particular focus on education, employment and entrepreneurship and wealth gaps.

  • Serves as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and other stakeholders on DE&I topics. Maintains knowledge of best practices for DE&I within the financial services industry and stays abreast of current and emerging DE&I-related developments/trends with the aim of partnering across the enterprise to strengthen access to and the relevance of financial products and services provided to military members, veterans and their families, including in underserved communities; advance inclusive leadership at all levels; cultivate a strong sense of belonging among a highly talented and diverse workforce; enhance USAA's impact in the communities it serves; and strengthen diversity within USAA's supply chain.

  • Assesses impact of new DE&I developments/trends and collaborates to incorporate them into current and future strategies, particularly for members and communities. Develops and implements best practices for DE&I-focused action planning.

  • Identifies, develops, and fosters strategic relationships with relevant external DE&I organizations, thought leaders, partners, and vendors to maintain USAA's reputation as a DE&I leader and drive change internally and externally. Is a thought partner and thought leader on DE&I.

  • Builds and oversees a team of DE&I professionals through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 10 years of progressive experience in DE&I or related field, to include developing and implementing DE&I strategies and strategic initiatives in a large organization.

  • 4 years of people leadership experience in building, managing, and/or developing high-performing teams.

  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Demonstrated track record of leadership in advancing DE&I.

  • Deep experience in quantitative analysis and reporting, including market research, trend analysis, benchmarking, and opportunity identification and the ability to translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy.

  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals.

  • Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business strategy and operations; diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices; current regulatory issues; and emerging trends.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience leading DE&I programs in a corporate environment

  • Experience crafting presentations for board members and senior executives

  • Track record of designing and implementing DE&I strategies

  • Experience working within a Fortune 500 company, preferably within banking or insurance.

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $135,200.00-180,300.00-243,500.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
