JMT is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead our Transportation Structures Section in Raleigh, NC.
Position Summary
The primary role for this individual is to manage JMT's Raleigh Transportation Structures Section. Candidate will be responsible for the overall vision, business development, managing staff and financial success of a well-established and growing department. This person will be responsible for managing a technical engineering staff, including coordinating staff assignments with the Practice Leader and other offices in timely forecasting of project needs throughout JMT. The selected candidate will work closely with our North Carolina and Virginia Region Structures group while managing, developing, and growing the business in the North Carolina Market. The successful candidate will be expected to assist in development of teaming relationships, qualification descriptions for Letters of Interest, Technical Proposals, responses to Requests for Qualifications and Presentations, and scope of services and fee estimates. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordination with clients, subconsultants, other government and regulatory agencies, and internal JMT staff. As a condition of employment, hire will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Proof of vaccination will need to be submitted as part of the interview/hiring process.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Grow existing and new market presence in area through marketing and business development
Manage financial budget for department and allocate resources accordingly
Manage utilization of staff
Lead and contribute to the production of proposals
Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staff
Establish resource staffing needs
Interview and hire staff for the section
Conduct performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teams
Coordinate work-sharing within region and between regions

Thorough understanding of the NCDOT design practices, special provisions, calculation of project working days estimates, and plan preparation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program
Professional Engineer License in North Carolina
Project management experience
Experience with MicroStation
Experience working with NCDOT and municipal clients
Experience leading Design Build pursuits and design delivery preferred
Business development experience
Supervisory experience
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
