This position can be home based.

Responsibilities

This individual will be responsible for providing scientific and clinical expertise to help shape and transform the products, programs and tools with which emergency cardiovascular care education and training are delivered. Responsible for working collaboratively with science volunteers and consultants on AHA and ILCOR activities, scientific reviews, and facilitation of new areas of scientific inquiry and solution development related to emergency cardiovascular care and first aid.

  • Serves as key scientific lead for product, program and tool development including prioritizing and leading collaboration meetings to drive scientific discussion, debate, learning and generation of ideas

  • Participates in all aspects of product design, development, testing and revising with key AHA and RQIP teams

  • Liaises with and manages key science opinion leaders and consultants. Ensures scientific rigor and accuracy of all AHA ECC products, programs and resources

  • Oversees management of ECC committee and/or subcommittees/interest groups to shape and transform ECC education and training products, programs and tools. Drives completion of key deliverables and timelines as set forth by ECC Committee leadership and VP Science & Innovation

  • Conducts Scientific Reviews in area of expertise. Content and medium may include marketing, videos, articles, press releases, info-graphic materials, internal communications, news, scientific statements and manuscripts

  • May develop or write abstract reviews for related conferences

  • Manages relationships with volunteers, including recruitment and retention of science volunteers. Seeks out new ideas from volunteers, prepares proposals for AHA ECC leadership discussions

  • Coordinates Scientific Statements and Guidelines manuscript process from conception to publication as assigned. Participates in the organization of evidence evaluation and Guideline development within ECC. Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with AHA policies, procedures, conflicts of interest, and related documentation requirements

  • Consults with international scientific experts in resuscitation and first aid to provide a collaborative forum at national and international meetings; attends national and international meetings

  • Manages ILCOR scientific statements and other publications and projects related to AHA/ECC. Provides oversight of the continuous evidence evaluation process and the key players

  • Manages effective communication and relationship with ILCOR coordinator and volunteers to ensure that all facets of ILCOR are scheduled and aligned appropriately. Manages content on ILCOR website and related projects and database platforms

  • Ability to travel up to 25% locally and overnight stay

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Life or Health Science related to medical science research or clinical medicine or equivalent minimum of 10-years of relevant experience in the field

  • Five (8) to Eight (8) years of proven experience

  • Project management experience, with the ability to plan and supervise projects from inception through completion

  • Comprehensive writing and presentation skills

  • Basic knowledge of medical science and scientific publications

  • Comprehensive Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional and related computer skills

  • Ability to prioritize work assignments, meet multiple deadlines, and handle several large projects simultaneously

  • Problem-solving techniques, concepts, and applications

  • Comprehensive understanding of group facilitation and meeting management using interpersonal and negotiation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with publication of scientific data

  • Understanding of principles of scientific research and literature search strategies

  • AHA & ECC objectives, strategies, tactics and volunteer management including committee development and facilitation

  • Ethical standards related to eliminating the perception of Conflicts of Interest
