We are looking for an engineer, physicist or applied mathematician with over 5 years STEM experience to support satellite geodesy research, algorithm/software development, and operational mission support for two of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center flagship missions. Candidate will be working in a fast paced, dynamic environment supporting both Ice, Cloud, and Land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) and Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) missions. Candidate will support satellite geodesy research, algorithm/software development, and operational mission science planning. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to monitoring weekly mission Science Planning, attending Ground System element mission planning meetings, troubleshooting of laser conjunction threats and constraint violations, implementing, and testing of new system requirements and system updates. Candidate must be highly motivated and possess great time management skills to work simultaneously on multiple missions.
Required Skills/Qualifications
BS in engineering, physics, mathematics and related STEM field
Knowledge of orbital mechanics and satellite geodesy
MATLAB, Python, Perl, UNIX Shell Scripting programming experience
Skilled knowledge of Systems Tool Kit (STK)
Ability to communicate with customers and team members, both verbally and written
Ability to work independently and on small, fast-paced, highly motivated teams
Good judgment and relationship management
Ability to track detailed assignments and ensure timely delivery
Must be authorized to work in the United States of America
