Job Summary Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in connection with the receipt and storage of merchandise, which involves the processing of merchandise transfers, report of goods received, chargebacks, etc,. Duties and Responsibilities - Receives freight bills from truck drivers on incoming shipment. Checks freight bills, merchandise transfers, etc., against appropriate documents for accuracy of order number and description of freight etc. Codes freight bills by order number, Julian date and receiving number, etc., noting any discrepancies found. After merchandise has been processed, updates log indicating when action was taken. Notifies supervisor/driver of discrepancies. Obtains appropriate signature for all merchandise received. - Maintains log of appointment schedules by date of delivery, time, purchase order number, department, etc. - Ensures receiving documents including RGRs, transfer documents, etc. are submitted to appropriate accounting personnel on a timely basis. - Prepares various reports, such as, month-end cut-off, transfer discrepancy reports, fashion distribution center error listing. Submits paperwork corrections to appropriate accounting personnel for processing. - Checks status of layaways and chargebacks to ensure they are current and that shipments are not overdue. - Assists with annual inventory by preparing and researching documents pertaining to outstanding merchandise. Works the control desk, matching inventory counts and documents to control sheets. - Maintains files relating to incoming shipments, e.g., purchase orders, merchandise transfers, special orders, chargebacks, etc., by department and/or number. Arranges, files or withdraws material in an established file system. - Types a variety of letters, chargebacks, price changes, memorandum etc., from rough draft or clean copy where revisions are clearly indicated or specifically identified. - Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor who makes work assignments, provides general instructions and procedures concerning normal functions and specific detailed instructions concerning work to be performed in other than usual form. Completed work is subject to review form. Completed work is subject to review for accuracy, neatness, adequacy and compliance with instructions and procedures. - Performs other related duties as assigned. TRAINING REQUIREMENT: Associate must receive Hazardous Material (HazMat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations. Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 1 year progressively responsible clerical or office work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: 1/2 year academic study above the high school level may be substituted for each 6 months of 1 year of general.
