Job Summary
Dominion Energy is looking for a Risk Management Analyst or a Senior Risk Management Analyst who will perform portfolio analysis and monitors commodity transactions (coal, oil, gas, power, emissions, etc.).
Specific responsibilities include:
Must have an understanding of the fundamentals of portfolio management and derivative transactions.
Gather market information, compile quantitative and qualitative data and perform risk analysis.
Understand the impact of market price changes on earnings and principles of mark-to-market accounting.
Must understand market price volatility and commodity price correlation.
Manages portfolio exposure and assures compliance with established risk limits and company policies.
Provides support and guidance to transactional personnel for the management of commodity exposure.
Direct and train junior level analysts in the use of derivatives and portfolio management techniques.
Other duties as required in support of risk management activities.
There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Risk Management Analyst: 3-5 years in commodity trading or equivalent risk management or related experience. Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year.
Sr. Risk Management Analyst: 5+ years in commodity trading or equivalent risk management or related experience. Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year.
Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience:
Understanding of accounting principles, portfolio valuation and the calculation of value at risk measurements.
Knowledge of options and their effects on physical/financial positions.
Excellent analytical skills and understanding of risk management techniques.
Ability to work independently and must be well organized.
Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to associates and management.
Required skills: results oriented, experienced in financial products and hedging techniques, adaptive and flexible, excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in excel, extensive knowledge of options theory.
Experience working with related regulations is a plus (FERC, NERC, PJM, New England ISO, etc).
Preferred skills: diplomacy, good presentation skills, ability to receive and provide direction well.
Preferred experience: commodity trader in natural gas, petroleum products and/or electricity, floor broker/dealer, Series 3 license (does not have to be current).
Education Requirements
Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Master or Doctorate
Required: Bachelor
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
Certified Financial Analyst preferred.
