Meter Mechanic - Meridian
This position is based in Meridian, Mississippi. The successful candidate will be required to live within a commutable distance to the reporting location. Any exception will require management consideration and prior approval.
Job Summary
This position will be filled as a Meter Mechanic A or lower depending on the applicant's qualifications. This position is responsible for the installation, testing, maintenance and replacement of instrument transformer-rated metering equipment in the laboratory and on customer premises, substations and generating plants.
Job Experience and Education
Experience installing and maintaining instrument transformer-rated metering equipment is preferred
Experience with electrical and mechanical systems is desired
Job Responsibilities
Perform meter testing in the laboratory and in the field
Complete maintenance on wholesale and retail metering installations
Construct new wholesale metering installations
Assemble metering equipment, such as primary metering racks and enclosures
Complete audit of transformer-rated metering installation
Complete AMI network device installation and replacement
Complete other work assignments as required
Job Requirements
Must pass or have passed the Construction and Skills Trade Test (CAST) in order to be considered
Must obtain and maintain a valid Mississippi Commercial Drivers license within 6 months of employment
Must maintain weight of 280 lbs fully-dressed, to comply with equipment manufacturer's restrictions
Must be available for scheduled overtime work. Extensive overnight travel is required
The applicant's work headquarters is at the Meridian Service Center and must report to that location daily. Living anywhere other than the immediate Meridian area will require management consideration and prior approval. No relocation assistance available.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Understand technical issues and make logical decisions
Solid mathematical skills, including algebra and trigonometry
Average or above average computer skills
Ability to use basic hand tools, the ability to work at heights, read technical drawings, and handle heavy objects
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors
