Heavy Haul Specialist
Description
This job exists to ensure the safe and legal hauling of various equipment and supplies to support the power infrastructure during restoration, maintenance & construction activities. This position requires the incumbent to maintain a D.O.T. Medical Card and CDL Drivers License with Hazardous Materials, Doubles, Triples and Tanker endorsements.
Position also requires the incumbent to be on call 24 HRS per day, 7 days per week.
This position is responsible for the safe & legal transporting -Oversize/Overweight assets & equipment, escorting D.O.T. permitted loads, meeting with & coordinating jobs with Crane & Heavy Haul providers, evaluating job sites, performing route surveys, performing minor maintenance on equipment and performing equipment inspections. The position will also coordinate with Fleet for repairs and/or maintenance on equipment in a timely manner. The incumbent will meet with internal and external customers as required to support any & all aspects of Transportation Services.

Experience with heavy equipment and heavy hauling operations
Experience in identifying customer needs and providing superior service
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated ability to safely operate large tractor trailer combinations 13 axle or greater on public roadways
roadways in heavy congestion and/or extreme conditions
Proficiency in understanding and applying D.O.T. regulations
Understanding of mechanical & hydraulic principles
Excellent communications & interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain Company wide relationships and System focus
Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner and display personalaccountability for those decisions
Other Requirements
Maintain D.O.T. Medical Card
Maintain CDL with Hazmat, Double, Triples & Taker endorsements
Be on call 24/7 with overnight travel as needed
Drive highway tractor transporting oversize & overweight loads up to 300,000lbs
Drive support or escort vehicle
Perform route surveys
Coordinate with internal and external customers
Support all functions of the Transportation Department
