Job Summary

Manage the operation of and provide leadership to the Operation, Support, and Marketing teams of an offshore Wind Turbine Installation Vessel to support offshore wind development customers and projects in a safe and compliant manner. Manage and coordinate the Wind Turbine Installation Vessel's daily operations and maintenance activities by effective utilization of offshore and onshore staffing, equipment and supplies, via both internal and contractor resources to ensure optimization of the vessel's operations. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable company policies. Oversee the development and evolution of operations priorities, strategies and procedures. Organize, plan, and execute monthly operations reporting; monitor operational performance; and manage financial business reports. Provide input to the development and management of the annual Business Plan and to the monthly financial variance report. Develop and manage internal relationships for supporting with supply chain activities. Management of the operational and technical input for all external tenders. Administration of all Work orders. Oversee development and maintenance of policies, procedures, emergency plans, alarm responses, etc. and provide technical expertise to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction. Responsible for vessel modifications for site-specific requirements and maintenance of vessel classification. Provide analysis of abnormal or problem situations and participate in the decision making/resolution process. Develop root cause analysis reports for safety, environmental, and major operational failures. Facilitate vessel operational schedules. Ensure compliance with maritime environmental regulations pertaining to hazardous waste, oil spill prevention, and wildlife conservation as applicable. Support Environmental Protection and Health Management & Safety in a maritime operating environment. Oversee the vessel's operations and maintenance and other support contracts / agreements and manage supply chain activities and warranty issues. Conduct/Review training assessments (technical and non-technical). Implement Operational risk management process. Responsible for operating budget, including pricing strategy for customer contracts and offshore and onshore service providers. Prepare, maintain and monitor departmental budget. Responsible for ancillary vessel owners & operators, respecting their contract obligations and acting as primary point of contact for consultants, subcontractors, flag states, certifying authorities and coastal state regulators. Perform and report vessel inspections, vessel and company audits. Ensure that all company policies regarding quality, safety and the environment are adhered to. Conduct critical reviews/assessments of operations and processes. Identify, develop and communicate best practices across vessel operations.

Candidate will reside or be willing to relocate to Eastern or Central Virginia and willing to travel for project specific travel.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:

8-10+ years of experience in offshore operations and/or offshore project experience, minimum two a senior role.

Advanced knowledge of power generation station operations gained through considerable related work experience.

Ability to provide clear direction and communicate expectations effectively; knowledge safety, environmental and regulatory requirements that support federal, state and local laws/rules; knowledge of project and operations management system requirements; strategy development; processes; techniques; tools; etc.

Knowledge of vessel systems; equipment.

Strong understanding and experience with operations and planned maintenance systems & maintenance KPIs.

Multidisciplinary technical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings, documents & management reports.

Effective leadership skills and ability to optimize productivity and communicate in a business environment, conflict resolution and decision making. Strong verbal and written communication facilitation, and presentation skills. Ability to effectively utilize a personal computer and the associated programs, systems and databases.

Preferred Experience related to vessel operations (including the following): Prior supervisory experience in maintenance or operations. Wind turbine installation. Wind turbine electrical systems. Experience in dealing with health and safety and environmental legislation associated with construction, marine and offshore projects. Technical apprenticeship or equivalent training scheme.

Related technical qualification, minimum H.N.C. or First Class Marine Engineers Certificate of Competency.
