Serco Inc. is looking for a highly motivatedCommunications Technician to join our Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) team supporting Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) command. This position supports a broad portfolio of Autonomous Maritime System (AMS) programs in the San Diego, CA/NIWC PAC geographic region onboard a fast-growing local team

This position is contingent upon the ability to maintain a SECRET Clearance Level

The Communications Technician will support unmanned surface vessel operations alongside NIWC-PAC customers and team using their experiences to maintain and upgrade vessel communications software and hardware. You willRely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Reports to a Program Manager or head of a unit/department under limited to no supervision. This position will support onsite NIWC customer facilities in San Diego, CA.

In this role, you will:

The Communications Technician will perform scheduled and corrective maintenance, integration, testing, field installation, and troubleshooting of mechanical, and electrical communication equipment and systems.

  • Provide sound and seasoned technical judgement that follows company policies and procedures in meeting customer obligations.

  • Conduct routine and corrective maintenance of complex Navy maritime communication systems to include Satcom, RF, VHF, and other associated Navy communication assets

  • Assist with vessel modifications, including development of Engineering Change Proposals, procurement of parts, fabrication, installation, and testing.

  • Assist with electrical, mechanical and network payload integration.

  • Develop maintenance plans and procedures.

  • Assist with at-sea testing of USVs and associated payload, including test plan development, test execution, and post-test analysis.

  • Ability to problem solve during high stress environments such as field testing in austere conditions.

  • Travel and at-sea watch standing will be required.

Qualifications

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of releveant experience.

  • A current SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

  • A current valid U.S. passport is required.

  • Experience in maritime operations to include unmanned surface vessels, and unmanned underwater vehicles.

  • Logistics experience in military and maritime maneuvers is preferred.

  • Able to interpret mechanical and hydraulic schematics and drawings.

  • Proficient in the use of common hand and power-driven tools.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to work with minimum supervision under a variety of conditions.

  • Minimum 25% travel CONUS/OCONUS

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • 5 years managing military communications circuits

  • Experience with the production of Communications Plans, satellite channel assignments, and LINK networks

  • Underway experience onboard Navy Sea going vessels
