KBR is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer (SE) to serve as a Flight Operations Team (FOT) member on NASA's Roman Space Telescope (RST) Mission. The SE will support pre-launch operations development & testing, launch and early orbit operations, and post launch flight operations support. The SE will be responsible for testing Mission Operations Center (MOC) requirements, software, and documenting test results. The SE will also be responsible for developing and testing operations procedures, Local Operating Procedures (LOPs), display pages, automation scripts, trending products, and supporting MOC, ground system, and mission readiness testing. The customers supported in this position include NASA management, mission flight operations, and mission systems engineering.
Position is located at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD
Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Responsibilities:
Serve as member of Flight Operations Team testing several Government Off-the Shelf (GOTS) and mission-specific software systems.
Test, verify, and document acceptance of MOC Level 4 and Ground System Level 3 requirements.
Write and test operations procedures to support MOC, ground system, mission readiness testing, and post launch operations.
Develop telemetry display pages for the telemetry and command operations.
Develop and test scripts supporting MOC automation.
Exercise the RST FlatSat in support of MOC and mission readiness testing.
Review mission operations concepts and recommend modifications as needed to improve the overall operability of the MOC and ground system.
Provide technical review of project documents as applicable to the MOC, ground system and/or operations.
Author and baseline MOC documentation as assigned by the FOT Lead.
Develop trending products in support of ground system and observatory trending.
Support Ground System and mission operations test planning and coordination; (i.e., element interface testing, acceptance testing, ground system mission readiness testing, and mission operations tests and simulations).
Develop, test, and maintain MOC telemetry and command databases.
Develop MOC subsystem training skills and administer training to new FOT members in support of the MOC Training and Certification program.
Investigate complex anomalies by working with hardware and software vendors, FOT co-workers, and NASA engineers to determine corrective action and long-term solutions.
Provide support to the NASA customer in the generation of technical presentation packages as required supporting the mission operation readiness effort for the Mission Operations Readiness (MOR) and Flight Operations Readiness (FOR) reviews.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
BS Degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field
1 - 5 years of experience in flight operations.
Proficient with the following MOC GOTS and mission-specific software or related systems:
