As a dedicated People Senior Strategy Officer, you will serve as a key member of the USAA Strategy team and key member of the leadership team accountable for driving the strategic agenda for the employee lifecycle within USAA. You will oversee the review and execution of USAA's People Strategy, provide input into its design, and monitor its execution to ensure alignment with USAA's strategic goals. Collaborate with senior business leaders within and outside our HR Organization to define strategic goals that deliver on business objectives in alignment with risk and compliance regulatory requirements and risk appetite. Your role will serve as a catalyst and advisor in the translation USAAs strategy into key talent strategies, priorities and initiatives to achieve our mission and long-term objectives.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in either San Antonio, TX or Charlotte, NC.
The Opportunity
What you'll do:
Provide an external lens on market trends, members, disruptors, and competitors -through both research and via internal feedback - and translate findings into actionable insights for our People Strategy
Creates senior executive briefings for the Board (strategic plan), Executive Council, Rating Agencies and other forums as required. Clearly defines strategic choices and their implications to drive fact-based prioritization.
Informs, and partners with senior HR leaders in the design and implementation of our People strategy, with consideration to broader USAA long-term strategic goals and objectives. Measures performance and ensures progress towards strategic goals against the strategic plan implemented.
Leads annual integrated planning process and strategic planning framework for USAAs People Strategy.
Drives results through structured problem solving.
Looks across the strategy portfolio and identifies risks. Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
10+ years of progressive related experience, ideally in a combination of management consulting environment and HR strategy environment working alongside the leadership team to develop and drive key strategic initiatives.
Passion and documentable experience developing talent and people strategies to advance capabilities, unlock company's potential and achieve ultimate strategic goals.
6+ years of leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.
In-depth knowledge of area of responsibility business specific trends and dynamics that drive change.
Expert knowledge of strategy processes, tools, and frameworks; ability to ideate, develop hypotheses, prove, or disprove hypotheses through structured analysis and recommend a path.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals.
Executive-level business acumen in the areas of business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.

Demonstrable accomplishments in both creating and executing the talent strategies of large, complex, and matrixed organizations.
Experience leveraging cutting edge trends and technologies in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning to accomplish talent strategies and build AI capabilities within a large organization.
Compensation:
USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $207,600.00-$373,700.00.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
