In this role, you will manage identification and promote resolution of Fleet concerns while supporting the LHD / LHA (Landing Helo, Dock) ship class for the NAVSEA PMS 443 Readiness Office. This position has a direct impact on the effectiveness of Ships and Sailors.
Apply your expert knowledge and experience of naval ship operations and maintenance in support of a dynamic organization in an evolving environment. In this role, you will extract operational, logistics, and maintenance data from ship systems to assist in the prediction and resolution of operational and maintenance Fleet Readiness issues. You will perform analysis of projects and programs related to military operations and strategy.
You will be a good fit for this position if you have performed staff work, have shipboard experience, and are familiar with the Navy's maintenance hierarchy.
The Military Analyst will provide daily support to the customer in support of the LHD / LHA class of ships, with these representative duties:
Collaborate with Readiness Manager and other stakeholders regarding ship class readiness capabilities and systemic failures and propose potential solutions.
Use shipboard knowledge and experience gained from military / civilian / contractor work to solve current and mitigate future problem areas.
Review data from a variety of sources, including CASREPs (Casualty Reports), system availability, and parts usage to analyze and identify the root causes of complex systemic problems, and formulate solutions that balance cost reduction with cost avoidance.
Build rapport and coordinately close with diverse operational, engineering, and logistics activities to bring about effective solutions.
Provide guidance and recommendations to the customer.
Coordinate and participate in working groups, program development forums, analytical activities, readiness IPT, and other forums as required to accomplish contract requirements.
Monitor standards for the quality of programs and documents. Assist in the resolution of project and program priorities. Assure quality standards are throughout all contract activities.
Demonstrate excellent writing and presentation skills to develop briefings and other documents.
Maintain close coordination with client personnel and perform work at client site in classified environment, as required.
Comply with security procedures and requirements.
Qualifications
The Military Analyst Must Have :
An Active DoD Issued Secret Clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
2-4 years of relevant experience (Navy experience or experience directly supporting the shipboard Navy.)
Excellent writing and presentation skills.
Experience performing Navy staff work.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications (particularly MS Excel and PowerPoint).
Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for comparable work experience.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience onboard Navy ships or maintaining ship systems. Former enlisted or junior officers with engineering experience are encouraged to apply, as are former government service/contractors with Navy shipboard maintenance and modernization experience.
Familiarity with Navy IT systems such as NDE and NMCI.
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office suite of tools (notably Excel and PowerPoint).
