Job Description

Brooks Instrument, a global manufacturer of flow and pressure measurement and control products for critical applications, and a division of ITW (A Fortune 200 Company) is seeking candidates for a Product Manager (Service and Repair Business Unit) . This position will be based out of our headquarters location at Hatfield, PA (Suburban Philadelphia). Brooks maintains manufacturing, sales, and service center facilities around the world, and our products are used in laboratory and process applications in end markets such as: life sciences, petro-chemicals, semiconductor, analytical instrumentation, nuclear, and solar cells.

Basic Function

To enhance Brooks' market participation, sales and profitability for service-related products (instrumentation calibration, repair, installation and training services) by managing the basic marketing mix (Product, Price, Promotion and Distribution). Work with the Industrial and Semiconductor sales channels to identify target customers, applications, markets, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess customer's expectations for Service products.

  • Identify and understand emerging market and applications for Brooks' Service products.

  • Translate customer's needs into specifications for Brooks' Service products.

  • Manage projects; work closely with engineering, operations and quality to bring to market service products that meet customer's requirements.

  • Monitor the competitive environment to identify threats and opportunities.

  • Implement pricing strategies to maximize Brooks' opportunities for penetration and profit.

  • Optimize service product cost position by product feature assessment and segmentation, portfolio rationalization, and basic product design/process cost reduction.

  • Work with marketing communications to implement promotions, advertising campaigns, targeted communications, trade show initiatives, internet strategies and other activities in support of the service product strategies.

  • Develop sales support and training materials to enhance effectiveness of all selling activities.

  • Work with sales and with customers directly to understand needs, support major account activity, maintain product awareness and provide training.

  • Support Business Unit Manager with annual and long-range planning activities, review organization's financial performance against budget, financial and operational goals

  • Working with Global Customer Service Manager, align the service RMA (Receiving, Quoting, Order Entry, Service, Shipping) processes globally and establish -best practices- when feasible.

  • Oversight of Global Service Systems (Salesforce, CPQ, MAPICS/Other ERP Systems).

  • Working with each world area Service Center, establish KPIs for reporting at monthly Global Operations Meetings.

  • Travel to support above duties and to support trade shows (

  • Learn and apply continuous improvement philosophies including but not limited to the ITW Toolbox and drive and contribute to activities that support related projects.

  • Learn ITW 80/20 principles, tools and techniques and actively apply them daily.

  • Ability to get along in a team environment and follow all safety procedures.

  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.

  • Other duties as assigned, including working in other departments when needed.

Education and Experience

Should have BS in business or engineering; minimum 2 years of working experience required; customer service or technical support related experience preferred; knowledge and understanding of semiconductor and industrial systems and processes; ability to understand and communicate technical information and an understanding of marketing responsibilities including product portfolio, price, promotion and distribution is preferred.
