This position will be responsible for managing the personnel of 1st shift at the KC manufacturing facility staff and report to the Operations Manager. In addition to managing the 1st shift personnel, this role will play an active role in the day-to-day operations of the facility through scheduling production, managing vendor relationships, and procurement of products supplies necessary to operate the business. This role will continue to foster and drive continuous improvement in the business and help shape future investments in the equipment and facilities.
Essential Functions:
Ceate/maintain superior team safety awareness through OPX and develop corrective actions for safety concerns.
Maintain employee training records and other facility specific records such as scrap, hold tags, staffing information, and safety data.
Serve as a route card resource for both hardware and software troubleshooting and upkeep.
Serve as primary point of contact for vendors, contractors, service providers at Kings Chapel Plant.
Coach and develop work teams to have positive and proactive attitudes, personal accountability, and superior manufacturing quality as well as encouraging ownership of operations, products, and processes.
Manage production flow at the KC plant through scheduling
Through employee involvement, the production supervisor will drive ITW principles as well as 80/20 efforts in the facility
Standardize methods, work instructions, and best practices through cross functional teams including production coordinators from other facilities.
Maintain hiring and staffing levels to meet business needs, working with Human Resources, outside agencies, and consistently following internal policies.
Performance management, including the preparation and administration of performance reviews, individual coaching, and disciplinary management
Responsible for communicating scheduling priorities with other leaders to ensure safe and efficient operations based on demand.
Build relationships, be visible, communicate, encourage creativity and innovation across shifts
Effective communication across all shifts and levels of the organization.
Holds self and teammates accountable for living the ITW Culture and values.
Associate Degree in Business Administration or Engineering Technology (or attainment within five (5) years)
Prior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
Able to articulate and demonstrate how ITW manufacturing principles (80/20, MRD, etc.) apply in a manufacturing environment
Understands the importance of safety compliance and Quality Standards
Utilize the ITW Toolbox (80/20, PLS, MRD, USa) to foster continuous improvement of people, processes, and products
Proven problem-solving skills to include analytical and critical thinking skills
Be customer-focused with management, support staff, customers, and suppliers; understand how the business functions link together to support the customer (engineering, materials, and sales)
Exhibit encouragement of diverse ideas, focus on coaching/developing strengths of team members and facilitate effective communication between shifts
Skilled at performance management; providing formal and informal feedback to employees
Possess the track record of a proven leader and team player, demonstrates a positive attitude, takes personal accountability, coaches, listens, is approachable, and resolves issues/conflicts promptly
Must be self-driven and be able to motivate others, able to identify needs and show the ability to make things happen with little supervision
Active in continuing education and/or self-development, both formal and informal
Ability to occasionally assist other shifts to cover for vacations, absences, training
Strong computer (Microsoft Office), oral and written communication skills, prior experience with Route Card system is a plus
