Position Description
Amphibious Boat Control Training Instructor
Under general supervision, conducts or facilitates moderately complex technical training courses for end-users. Initiates and provides follow-up for technical reviews to ensure curriculum quality and consistency. Gauge customer satisfaction and success of training with standard metrics such as evaluation surveys and skills tests.
Conducts or facilitates moderately complex technical training courses for end-users and selects appropriate training aids.
Generate and propose executable modifications to Amphibious Boat Control Team Trainer (ABCTT) curriculum (instructional material, performance tools and metrics) and delivery to replicate fleet procedures in execution. The Contractor's training specialist must ensure shipboard stations (evaluator, talker, plotter, etc.) and systems (communications, navigation, Amphibious Assault Direction System (AADS), etc.) form and function are replicated in the ABCTT. Sets up and maintains training environment including equipment.
Prepare ABCTT classroom and set-up the lab with all appropriate media, equipment, reference material, student handouts prior to each course convening. Prepares lesson plans relevant to training material.
Develop and revise the curriculum using on-line/web-based Authoring tools. Use Authoring Instructional Material (AIM II), or a Navy-designated replacement system such as CPM, to produce Master Lesson Files that include objectives, lesson guides that are sequenced by objectives, student guides, media that is used in the classroom, tests that measure student's knowledge and performance, and supporting -Front Matter- and reference material. Enter curriculum into the official Navy academic curriculum automated authoring systems.
Maintains records of training activities, participant progress, course evaluations and program effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvement.
Recommends methods for class design and delivery.
Interfaces with training developers, subject matter experts and program/project managers.
The Contracted training specialist must be capable of providing thorough AADS classroom instruction and effective AADS practical lab environment instruction in order to train students to energize, set up the AADS computer workstation as well as demonstrate familiarity with Alternate Display Computer configuration and operation while interfacing with the CIC watch team during simulated STS missions
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
The Amphibious Boat Control Instructor will have:
Bachelor's Degree and up to seven years of equivalent experience.
In lieu of a bachelors degree, more than 10 years of Navy experience in curriculum maintenance may be considered.
An active DoD issued Secret is required.
In lieu of an Active Secret Clearance, sponsorhip will be considered.
USN instructor knowledge based on a background which includes graduation from the Navy basic instructor courses or Marine Corps Formal School Instructor Course (M10XRGM), curriculum development course; and must have experience working with curriculum in a formal Navy schoolhouse training environment.
Understanding of amphibious operations, ship-to-shore (STS) and shore-to-ship control in advisory, independent and positive control procedures.
Experience in an amphibious ship Combat Information Center (CIC) as either a member of Ships Company assigned CIC watch standing duties during amphibious operations or as an inspector/assessor for Amphibious Boat Control, such as a Naval Beach Group Certifier and that experience must be within the last seven (7) years.
Experience as a LHD, LHA, LPD or LSD CIC Watch Supervisor with experience in Amphibious Objective Area control geometry.
Experience as a Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) Navigator or Landing Craft Utility (LCU) Navigator with experience in STS control and a firm understanding of the Amphibious Objective Area control geometry
Experience in AN/KSQ-1A ACG equipment operation in order to train members of a Combat Information Center (CIC) Watch Team to provide Command and Control (C2) for Primary Control Ship (LPD, LSD, LHA, and LHD) functions during Amphibious Boat Control Operations.
Instructor with experience as Curriculum Developer, Curriculum Administrator, and Senior/Master Instructor.
Must be physically cable of embarking US Naval Amphibious ships (LPD, LSD, LHA, and LHD).
Additional Required Skills are:
Excellent presentation and teaching skills with ability to create successful hands-on learning experiences for students.
Ability to quickly learn moderately complex subject matter with the skill to present the material to a live audience.
Must have the ability to work as part of a team.
Moderate degree of creativity and self-directed work is required.
