Description
PowerSecure has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Electrical Engineer to join our Construction Engineering team located in Durham, NC. This is a hybrid work environment! This experienced engineer works with the project team to develop construction document sets, performs power system studies and supports our sales team with proposal drawings. Developing code-compliant construction documents with accuracy and speed is one of the main goals for this position. In addition, reviewing, interpreting, and applying all applicable NEC, NFPA, IEEE and AHJ codes and standards.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
Minimum of two (2) years' experience with a CAD software package
Has a minimum of two (2) years experience working with switchgear, panelboards, transformers, electrical diagrams and other related electrical design concepts.
Ability to read and interpret documents to include work instructions, written directions, applicable building codes and markups to electrical drawings.
Proficient in Adobe and Microsoft Office applications to include TEAMS, Word, Excel and Outlook
Essential Functions:
Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
This position must be able to develop and design electrical construction documents and use CAD software to develop the drawings with speed and accuracy.
Drawings include site plans, one-line diagrams, electrical risers and schematics, electrical details, specifications and sequence of operations.
Review, interpret and apply NEC, NFPA, IEEE and all applicable AHJ codes and standards.
Performs power systems studies to include coordination studies, short circuit studies and arc flash studies.
Reviews O&M manuals for project close-outs and submittal packages for customer approval.
Assembles and reviews permitting packages including plotting construction drawings, drafting letters, transmittals and having the engineer sign and seal documents as required.
