Community Relations Representative

There are TWO open positions . --- One in the Savannah, GA Area and One in the Augusta, GA Area

* You must already live in the Savannah Area or Augusta Area, GA....OR....Be willing to relocate to either area quickly.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for building and maintaining key relationships with diverse customers, communities, organizations, and opinion leaders while executing the related strategy with the region external affairs and volunteer services teams. This position will focus on building meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships, including but not limited to underserved and underrepresented communities (African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander), Women, Seniors, and LGBTQ ) for the purpose of increasing customer value and Georgia Power's service and outreach to these customers and communities. The Community Relations Representative will support local and regional diverse communities through leadership development, strategic planning, resource development, stakeholder communications, and meeting facilitation.

In addition, this position will be responsible for building and maintaining successful relationships with Georgia Power internal partners essential to serve these customer and community groups. This position will have accountability to actively support a culture within the Company that is inclusive, builds trust and is continuously improving. This includes ownership of our Diversity and Inclusion efforts as well as leadership in continuing to advance our Southern Company -Moving to Equity- plans.

Job Requirements:

  • Four Year degree (preferred)

  • Experience in external affairs, customer relations, charitable giving, governmental relations, or sales/marketing

  • Comfortable working in different environments with diverse stakeholders and historically underrepresented and underserved communities

  • Possess a strong customer service attitude toward internal and external customers

  • Strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

  • Proven experience with building and maintaining community relationships and working effectively with others

  • Ability to work non-traditional hours and participate in overnight travel

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks

  • Demonstrated successful experience in project management, communications, and designing and delivering presentations

  • Computer skills including intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, TEAMS, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Keep safety as the top priority.

  • Execute the Community Relations strategies for developing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with diverse customers and communities.

  • Assist assigned region in developing local and regional community engagement strategies with a focus on historically underserved populations, key civic and opinion leaders.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with community organizations in our service territory.

  • Ensure proactive working partnerships exists with internal organizations that interact with diverse customer groups such as Power Delivery, Energy Assistance, Community Development, Region Operations, Volunteer Services, Sales, Customer Service, Supplier Diversity, Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, and Charitable Giving.

  • Strategically direct funding and employee engagement activities to organizations geared to addressing the needs of historically underserved communities, aligning with company goals and relevant to our customers and communities.

  • Plan, implement and coordinate community and stakeholder engagement events, and work with internal partners such as Community Development, Employee Resource Groups, and Region External Operations to enhance the viability of these communities as well as the service provided to these customers.

  • Create and deliver presentations internally and externally.

Other Requirements:

This job requires attendance at meetings out of town and after normal working hours. The successful candidate will support either the East Region area or South Region area of the state, as designated by the Region External Affairs & Community Engagement organization and will be required to live in the assigned Georgia Power region area (either in or near Augusta, GA or Savannah, GA areas). Relocation assistance will be provided based on company guidelines.
